I love this "card" from Pinksy Doodles. https://designbundles.net/pinksy-doodles/1613815-thank-you-flower-pop-up-card-for-cricut-joy?ref=mno4va Except, it's not really a Thank You Note as I had thought. It does not fold open , but instead is more of an "index card" style. As is, you could make this and write on the back. But I wanted it to fold open so it would be self standing. The instructions are for a Cricut Joy Machine. They say that the card will fit perfectly on a "cricut card base" - do perhaps this is meant to be applied to a premade notecard? I don't know. I don't work with a Joy, and that is not what I wanted to do. :-) It should have been easy to convert this, but I managed to make it difficult, it took me three tries to cut this correctly for what I wanted. Here's what finally worked for me. Using the shapes tool on the left in Design Space, add a rectangle. Unlock it (select the rectangle, then click on the lock) and resize it to: Rectangle = 5.25 tall by 8 wide Using the same shapes option, add a score line, 5 inches tall. Select the score line and the rectangle. At the top of the screen, with both items selected, choose :align/Center. Then attach the score line to the card. Next, resize the Thank You Flower. PD JOY POP UP FLOWER - 3.852 x 5.056 Now drag the flower over and position it on the right side of the rectangle. Make sure those corner cuts do not touch the edges of the rectangle. Attach it to the rectangle. The rounded rectangle on the left I added because my card is blue. If the exterior of my card is white, this isn't needed, but when I am making cards out of colored card stock, I prefer a white piece inside to write on. White Rounded Rectangle: 3 wide by 4 tall Silver Insert: 3.806 wide by 4.995 tall This file did not come with an envelope. I'm quite spoiled by designers like Digital Gems, and The Bearded Housewife, who always provide an envelope to fit their cards. But any envelope file will do - all you have to do is make sure the score lines are larger than the card. This is an envelope from Digital Gems, it came included with one of the free card downloads from her site. (There are always free cards on her site, they change regularly, and they always have an envelope included. ) Because this uploads with the score lines - the red rectangle - at an angle, it can be hard to be certain of the exact size. The easiest way I have found to check is to simply create a rectangle the size of your finished card, and place it on top. The finished card for this Thank You Flower is 4 wide by 5.25 tall. And that easily fits on top of the red rectangle here, so I know the card will fit. Now remember to change the red rectangle to score, and then select the score lines and the purple envelope and attach, I used my weeding tool to push through & "pop up" the layers of petals By using the contour option in Design Space, you can remove the "Thank You" . Then using a stencil font, you could change this to a birthday, or Thinking Of You card, easily too. :-) =======================

Today I am going to show you how to make these beautiful Mother's Day shaker cards using your Cricut and cardstock. Perfect for beginners!
I used the Simon Says Stamp Flower Cluster die and some new sentiment stamps to make a couple birthday cards... The first one, I die cut and layered the flowers. I then used a cardstock panel, and embossed the die onto the panel... I colored the embossed image with markers, and stamped the two sentiments onto the panel. I then adhered the layered die cuts onto the panel and adhered the whole thing to a card. Here's a close up... The second one, I used two sets of layered, die cut clusters... I moved the two clusters together underneath a panel that had a stitched die cut square removed from it, as well as being die cut with a stitched rectangular die. The blue card stock that I used underneath the die cuts was then exposed not only underneath the flowers, but served as a border. I popped up the white panel over the blue. The sentiment is from Simon Says Stamp/CZ Design's Simple Sentiments 2. Here's a close up... Thanks for visiting me today!! Hugs!! Lisa

By the early 15th century, handmade paper greeting cards were being exchanged in Europe. The Germans are known to have printed New Year's greetings from woodcuts as early as 1400, and handmade paper Valentines were being exchanged in various parts of Europe in the early to mid-15th century, with the oldest Valentine in existence being in the British Museum. The card was written to Bonne of Armagnac by her husband, Charles Duke of Orleans, who was imprisoned in the Tower of London at the time. Not surprisingly, its message is rather downbeat. Its opening reads: ‘I am already sick of love / my very gentle Valentine.’ By the 1850s, the greeting card had been transformed from a relatively expensive, handmade and hand-delivered gift to a popular and affordable means of personal communication, due largely to advances in printing, mechanization, and a reduction in postal rates with the introduction of the postage stamp.[15] This was followed by new trends like Christmas cards, the first of which appeared in published form in London in 1843 when Sir Henry Cole hired artist John Calcott Horsley to design a holiday card that he could send to his friends and acquaintances. In the 1860s, companies like Marcus Ward & Co, Charles Goodall & Son, and Charles Bennett began the mass production of greeting cards. They employed well-known artists such as Kate Greenaway and Walter Crane as illustrators and card designers. The extensive Laura Seddon Greeting Card Collection from the Manchester Metropolitan University gathers 32,000 Victorian and Edwardian greeting cards and 450 Valentine's Day cards dating from the early nineteenth century, printed by the major publishers of the day. Technical developments like color lithography in 1930 propelled the manufactured greeting card industry forward. Humorous greeting cards, known as studio cards, became popular in the late 1940s and 1950s. In the 1970s, Recycled Paper Greetings, a small company needing to establish a competing identity against the large companies like Hallmark Cards, began publishing humorous, whimsical card designs with the artist's name credited on the back. This was away from what was known as the standard look (sometimes called the Hallmark look.) During the 1980s, reduced costs of small batch printing and die cutting together with a growing taste for handmade cards made it economically possible for smaller niche companies to set up in competition with the large established brands. Innovative companies such as Nobleworks and Meri Meri[17] grew from their foundation in the 1980s to becoming significant influencers in the industry. A thriving market was established for what were now called "alternative" greeting cards. The name stuck even though these "alternative" cards grew to embrace a vast range of styles and ultimately changed the look of the industry. The largest recorded number of greeting cards sent to a single person went to Craig Shergold, a beneficiary/victim of chain letters and later chain emails. =====================
