Hello Peeps, popping back in today with another card. This card uses the Merry Monday sketch challenge. I have been wanting to play along with Lesley's new challenges since they begun and never seem to work them in. Well this week my sweet friend Wendy is the guest designer, so I just HAD to find time to make a card. Here is the sketch: I am such a seasonal stamper, that I had a hard time thinking about doing a Christmas card, but while looking through my Christmas stamps for some inspiration and nothing striking my fancy, I sit back down at my desk and my bird punch was there, ( you will see why later in the week) and I thought I could make a cardinal, that works for Christmas and so this card was born! :) I made the birdhouse by cutting a crumb cake circle and trimming off the bottom and the top was cut at an angle for the roof. I used early espresso for the roof and the circle opening. I then punched alot of leaves using some old olive and always artichoke to build the nest the bird is on. I added some small red "berries" to the leaves The sentiment is from the Contempo Christmas stamp set. I think the rest is pretty self explanatory but if you have any questions just let me know. Thanks for stopping by and HAPPY STAMPING!! Vicki

This week at Creative Sketches, there is a sketch challenge and a technique "kissing". Here is the link: http://www.creative-sketches.com/2011/08/18/creative-sketches-cs44t-technique-kissing-albuquerque-stampclasses/ Here is the sketch: I must admit I had to practice this technique several different ways until I was satisfied with the end result. Stamps: Inspired by Nature, Fine Flourish, Petite Pairs Inks: Basic Black, So Saffron, Peach Parfait marker Papers: Basic black, Whisper White, Peach Parfait designer paper, Peach Parfait cardstock Accessories: 3/4 by 15/16 oval punch, round bitty punch, bitty buttons, rhinestones, 3/8" white taffeta ribbon, Houndstooth embossing folder, dazzling diamonds. Here's how I made the image using the "kissing" technique- I started by inking up the background stamp "Fine Flourish" with Peach Parfait marker and the main stamp "Inspired by Nature" with So Saffron ink. Then I placed the background stamp on top of the main image, and stamped the "kissed" image onto white card stock. Here is a close up of the Cone Flower with the pattern of the Fine Flourish stamp on top of the So Saffron ink. These were 2 of my practice ones. I liked them enough to make them into a card. In this case I used Whisper White Ink on the Cone Flower, no ink on the background stamp, and stamped the image onto black card stock.

Fake photo effects are so cliche. I already used this category for the scavenger hunt but here's another one anyway! I was inspired by Jordy's recent tilt-shift image. His is much better and way cooler than mine! :-) I had quite a bit of fun experimenting with the tilt-shift effect. I tried several images and this image in particular seemed the most suitable. I found several tutorials and most of them were meh! I also found some actions that just didn't work at all with CS5. So finally, I downloaded a trial of a new plug-in from Topaz: Lens Effects. Certainly my result here isn't as good as shooting with a true tilt-shift lens but I thought it did a fairly decent job! There is also an online Tilt-Shift Maker that was kinda cool. Happy Cliche Saturday Everyone!!
