Illustration in Art Nouveau style of Ariadne. Ariadne is mostly associated with mazes and labyrinths, due to her involvement in the myths of the Minotaur and Theseus. In other stories, she became the bride of the god Dionysos. Some say she is mortal, some say she is a goddess. In Crete she has been worshipped as the goddess of fertility. The meaning of her name is "most holy" (Cretan Greek "αρι [ari]" = "most" and "αδνος [adnos]" = "holy"). Today, there is also a supermarket chain in Crete carrying her name. A lot of times in the past, Ariadne has been a big issue in the literature, the fine arts and in music. One example is the historical painting "Triumph of Ariadne" by Hans Makart, made in 1874. This title was the inspiration of our poster, but the poster shows sth. different. The old painting portrays Ariadne together with a lot of mythical creatures, our poster portrays only her, making a toast. Poster size : 38cm x 60cm High quality digital print on robust matted paper with a smooth surface. This paper is not tearable thanks to its synthetical component. Sezon ślubny w pełni - z tej okazji postanowiłam opublikować na blogu strój, który miałam na sobie podczas tego typu uroczystości zaledwie tydzień temu. Chciałam wyglądać dziewczęco, klasycznie i elegancko. Stylizację uzupełniłam delikatną biżuterią: srebrnymi małymi kolczykami i parą bransoletek. I wanted to look girly, classic and elegant. Eventually I decided on a light pink knee lenght dress found at Romwe.com long time ago. Buttoned back of presented dress looks extremely original! Invitation to the wedding turned out to be a good motivation for me to buy nude heels. After some searching I decided on a leather platform from Asos. Thereto I added delicate jewelry: silver small earrings and two bracelets. Różowa sukienka - Romwe.com Cieliste skórzane szpilki - Asos Bransoletki - KappAhl Srebrne kolczyki - Swarovski

What a powerful quote from the Jennifer Saint book “Ariadne” which tells the tale of her and Thesues (more below) Please note the reduced price is due to the gradient effect in the yellow portion having some uneven and noticeable lines, they can be seen in the photos. Ariadne is a character from Greek mythology, known for her intelligence and bravery. She was the daughter of King Minos of Crete and his queen, Pasiphae. According to legend, Ariadne helped Theseus, a Greek hero, navigate through the labyrinth and defeat the Minotaur, a monster with the body of a man and the head of a bull who lived in the maze. Ariadne's most famous contribution to the story of Theseus was her gift of a ball of string to him, which he used to find his way out of the labyrinth after killing the Minotaur. She also fell in love with Theseus and helped him escape from Crete. Later, however, he abandoned her on the island of Naxos. Despite the heartbreak she experienced, Ariadne's intelligence and courage are still celebrated in modern times. She is often depicted as a strong and independent woman who was not afraid to take risks and stand up for what she believed in. Many believes she later married Dionysus, God of theatre, wine, and revelry.
