In 1972, newlyweds Peter and LeAnna Dunn accepted a mission to open a home for runaway girls in New York City. In order to keep the girls occupied, they initiated a small woodworking business. The girls carved plaques and gifts that quickly became popular items at the Greenwich Village outdoor markets. When the mission in New York was complete, the couple bought the woodworking equipment and installed it on their farm in Dalton, Ohio. P. Graham Dunn is a family owned and operated business that opened its doors in 1976. In the early days, the work was labor-intensive. LeAnna and Peter were busy raising 4 energetic children and were running the business out of a revamped chicken coup. For twenty years, Peter designed every plaque, gift and each item of furniture while LeAnna managed the companys finances. In time, the company began to computerize carving and laser operations and found it could successfully compete with offshore manufacturers. Today P. Graham Dunn serves over 4,000 accounts, most in the U.S., and the remainder in Canada and around the world. It was recorded at Island Studios in London, United Kingdom and released in 1973. Desperado is a concept album, based on the themes of the Old West. Originally, Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Jackson Browne, and J. D. Souther were working on a series of songs about anti-heroes, but ran out of ideas after writing "Doolin' Dalton" and "James Dean". The latter was shelved and they instead began to write songs from the themes established in "Doolin' Dalton".The band members are featured on the album's cover dressed like an outlaw gang; Desperado remains the only Eagles album where the band members appear on the front cover. Although the title track is one of The Eagles' signature songs, it was never released as a single. The song "Desperado" was ranked #494 on Rolling Stone 's 2004 list of "The 500 Greatest Songs of All Time". The album did yield two singles, though: "Tequila Sunrise" and "Outlaw Man". Those two singles reached #64 and #59 respectively. The album reached #41 on the charts and sold 2 million copies. Desperado was the last Asylum Records album to be distributed in North America by Atlantic Records (catalog no. SD 5068), prior to Asylum's mid-1973 merger with Elektra Records by Asylum's, Elektra's and Atlantic's parent company, Warner Communications.
