Un campo relazionale Il progetto concepisce la nuova biblioteca non tanto come un edificio, quanto come una porzione di paesaggio, una porzione “eccezionale” del parco urbano dentro cui si colloca. Uno spazio pubblico protetto nel quale l’utente possa muoversi liberamente, caratterizzato da aree funzionali definite ma sfumate, che si trasformano gradualmente le une nelle altre e i cui confini sono di volta in volta ridefiniti dalla quantità di utenti che in quel momento le utilizzano. Per questo il piano terra della nuova biblioteca è progettato in totale continuità con lo spazio esterno circostante, definito nei suoi limiti da un perimetro di serramenti vetrati.
