Una caricatura es un retrato que exagera o distorsiona la apariencia física de una o varias personas en ocasiones un retrato de la sociedad reconocible, para crear un parecido fácilmente identificable y, generalmente, humorístico. También puede tratarse de alegorías. La técnica de la cual se sirve la caricatura será entonces agrandar aquellos rasgos más salientes de una persona (labios, ojos, nariz, patillas, cabello) y exagerarlos al máximo para causar comicidad o la representación de algún defecto moral. Si bien mencionamos el deporte, el mundo de la política o mejor, más precisamente los integrantes de ese mundo, son los que más caricaturas han recibido a lo largo de la historia del mundo. Las características físicas, decisiones, comportamientos y modales de un político son las que más veces han estado sujetas a la caricatura de los humoristas gráficos, generalmente de los periódicos. Por ejemplo, un caso que sirve para representar esto que les digo es el del ex presidente argentino Fernando De la Rúa, quien por su sabida lentitud y tibieza a la hora de la toma de decisiones, muchas veces, durante su mandato, fue representado por los caricaturistas argentinos extremando los rasgos de su cara y con el cuerpo de una tortuga, en clara alusión y referencia a esa lentitud. Pero no todo se reduce a personas con importante presencia en la vida política, porque como bien dijimos deportistas y otros aspectos como situaciones,instituciones políticas, sociales y religiosas, grupos y clases sociales han sido carne de caricatura también.
