Essential Oils aren't new to me, but if you follow along with my social media then you have probably started to see me sharing them more and more. And really, that is because I finally am feeling more confident in sharing and feeling like I might know enough to help others. And that is why I wanted to share this Essential Oil Healing Salve. The first time I tried essential oils was clear back in 2016- so yeah, in comparison to how long they've been around, I'm still a newbie. Summer was having a playdate with a preschool friend and her mom and I were talking about digestion, a total mom conversation, right? She made me a roller bottle with DigestZen and told me to roll it on my belly. I did and it worked basically immediately..... But then I forgot about it for the next 6 month or so. Obviously, I wasn't committed. :) Over the next couple of years, I used my DigestZen roller when I remembered, along with the On Guard I acquired from another friend and finally decided to just dive it. Really, I am so thankful that I did. The times I used my oils were helpful enough to keep my coming back and wanting to learn more. This essential oil healing salve is pretty new to me but I noticed a difference on my dry hands and feet so quick after I started to use it that I decided I needed to make my own so that I never ran out! And thankfully it was easy to make! Adding all ingredients except your essential oils, heat until they are melted and then set aside to cool for a few before adding your essential oils so that you don't scorch them. You also don't want to let your mixture come to a boil. Once I had the mixture melted, I set it aside to cool for a couple of minutes. Meanwhile, I set out my containers. I actually waited a tiny bit too long to pour mine into the containers and when I scraped the side of the bowl it left it a little bumpy and not as pretty. But that is okay. 1/2 cup Coconut Oil 1/2cup +2tbls Raw Organic Shea Butter 4 tbsp beeswax 1 tbsp Vitamin E oil 20 drops Frankincense 20 drops Lavender 20 drops Copaiba Using a double boiler heat coconut oil, shea butter, beeswax and vitamin e oil over medium heat. Stirring occasionally, heat until everything is melted Remove from heat and let sit for about 5 minutes Add your essential oils and mix well Add mixture to your 2 oz tins and let harden for a couple of hours before using. If you don't have a double boiler you can do like I did in the pictures. I used a saucepan with just an inch or so of water and then put a glass dish over it that fit without falling or touching the water. Also, you could use this base to make so many different salves based on what you are needing it for! So change up the oils you add to work for you! This Essential Oil Healing Salve is so awesome and it filled 6 tins! Eczema? Diaper Rash? Dry or chapped skin? This is for you! Follow along on Instagram for more Essential Oil tips and tricks.
I'm going to teach you how to make my most requested recipe of all time, it's called miracle salve. This is normally something I make at Christmas time to give out as gifts, but my daughter wanted to give this to her teachers as an end of the school year present. Since this is one of my most requested recipes, I thought I would show you guys how I make it. Check out the YouTube Video of me making this salve below. Watch Miracle Salve With Essential Oils Video Here The salve itself is just a base that you can add any essential oils you want to it. The recipe included in this article is for soothing irritated skin and sore muscles. At the end I will give you some ideas of other oils you can add to this salve to help with other problems. This salve is perfect for anyone in your life who has skin! This salve includes a blend of skin and tension soothing essential oils in a base of coconut and olive oils. I use this salve for all things skin related, head tension relief, hangnail soother, bug bites, lip balm, dry foot soother, and even to smooth my hair! I don’t have a beard but if I did, I would be using the salve on my beard, too! Miracle Salve Recipe MAKES 8, 2oz. CONTAINERS Ingredients: 1 cup Coconut Oil (not fractionated) ( get it here ) 1 cup Olive Oil 5 tbsp beeswax pastilles ( get it here ) 40 drops lavender essential oil ( get it here ) 40 drops rosemary essential oil ( get it here ) 40 drops peppermint essential oil ( get it here ) 40 drops copaiba essential oil ( get it here ) Few drops of Vitamin E ( get it here ) 8, 2oz. Containers ( get it here ) Directions: Slowly melt coconut oil, olive oil, & beeswax in a double boiler stirring frequently. Add Vitamin E (if using) and 5 drops of EACH essential oil to EACH 2oz container. Pour melted beeswax mixture into containers and let set for 24 hours to harden. Apply directly to skin as needed. This recipe will make 8, 2 oz containers or 4, 4oz containers. 4oz mason jars work great if you want a larger option. This salve has a smooth texture and absorbs quickly into the skin. The addition of beeswax helps the salve remain solid until it meets the heat of your skin and melts in. The aroma is lovely and is neither to feminine nor masculine. I am including a download below for the recipe cards and circle label template for these Avery labels that fit perfectly on these 2oz tins . Download Recipe Cards and Circle Labels Here Tips The salve will harden within an hour, but I really recommend letting it set for a full 24 hours before using it. Once it is set though it looks very professional and makes a nice gift to give to someone. I have recently discovered using a melt jar instead of my pots when heating up the wax. I put water in my Instapot and turn it on the sauté setting, then I add a mason jar with the wax in it to the water, and let the boiling water heat the wax inside the mason jar. Melting the wax this way has really saved me the hassle of trying to wash out pots with melted beeswax inside them. Save that mason jar and use it every time you want to melt beeswax; make the jar your designated “melt jar.” You can use liquid Vitamin E Oil, or you can use the capsules. Vitamin E acts as a natural preservative so you don’t want to skip this ingredient. Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil Soothes skin irritations Reduces anxious feelings Promotes restful sleep Helps to ease feelings of tension Natural remedy for discomfort Benefits of Rosemary Essential Oil Soothes tension Helps alleviate discomfort Reduce joint inflammation Repels certain bugs Helps increase circulation Benefits of Peppermint Essential Oil Repels bugs Promotes healthy respiratory function Alleviates upset stomach Helps increase circulation Helps ease joint discomfort Benefits of Copaiba Essential Oil Promotes wound healing Antimicrobial Calms and supports the nervous system Soothes skin and reduces blemishes Soothes sore muscles Once you master the simple base for this recipe you can switch up the oils to meet your specific needs and preferences. Chest Rub To make a chest rub using the salve as a base add about 20 drops of Breathe oil per 2oz container. Dry and Irritated Skin You are going to want to do about 20 drops of essential oils for this one as well. I would do equal parts Geranium, Frankincense, Cedarwood, and Lavender. Deep Muscle Relief Add roughly 10 drops of Deep Blue essential oils and 10 drops of Copaiba The original inspiration for this recipe came from Back Door Survival .
