It's Friday. How did that happen? The 4 day hiatus I took was not planned but I think the result of the summer wall I've hit and bad planning/packing while we took a quick trip to Leavenworth earlier this week. Regardless I missed posting and am haaaaaapy to be back to share this fun kid friendly craft! I really love seeing all the

A few weeks ago I received an email from a bride who was looking for some sea glass jewelry to give as gifts to her bridesmaids. She was having a destination beach wedding and looking for a variety of greens and blues. I photographed a pinwheel of sea glass pendants, similar to this, and we discussed them as though they were numbers on a clock. She picked the ones she liked and I replaced others until we had a nice selection of sea glass for the wedding. This was our second-to-last set. There is one more that was not in this photograph. It was challenging to find 12 pieces that were reasonably similar in shape, size, color, thickness and that were smooth enough to be jewelry quality. I had to dig deep in my collection, then my mother's collection, and then my father and step mother's collection. I wrapped them in the same gauge of wire and finished each pendant with a single Swarovski crystal. It is a little nerve wracking to create jewelry for somebody's wedding, but they were happy with the results... I am planning to add more bridal jewelry and accessories to my Etsy shop for the spring, however custom orders are always welcome!

There are days when everything you try just works out. That has been the case for me ever since I took the fabric bead class this August with Alma. I knew this was a road I would go down simply because I had been collecting items for it for a decade. These are new beads I hand sewed with vintage ribbons from France. Yesterday I finished the necklace. It is over the top I know. Each bead prettier than the next. I bought the vintage ribbon in Paris at the big antique market. These are the ribbon samplers that a sales person would have had when they were visiting store keepers. You have the same pattern in many different colours. For these beads, I used a small portion of each of these sample ribbons. Jacquard ribbon is so lush and thick. I always knew that one day I would do something special with these pieces. This is what makes my heart race in Paris. Boxes of vintage ribbons and millinery supplies. My sample ribbons were very expensive. Today I know they were worth every penny! I am so glad I didn't put them back after picking them out of a bin. I could never have made these beads look this way without these unique patterns. The rose was the one feature on the ribbon I tried to keep as is. I sewed beads all over the bead and thoroughly enjoyed the process. Placed on one of my collages I thought how perfect this quote was for my life. I love so many things!

Sain lainaksi kumihimo-kiekon ja kokeilin tehdä sillä punoksia erilaisista langoista. Kumihimo on japanilaista punontaa. 4. Litteä nauha valmistettuna kalalangasta kiertyy spiraalille. 5. Avaimenperä litteällä punonnalla. Riikinkukkopunonta

You make fabric beads the same way you make rolled paper beads, but I prefer fabric. I haven't had any success when I tried making paper beads (yet). It's easier to roll the fabric, and the beads get chunkier faster. Here is a quick tutorial to show you how easy and fun this is! 1.
