Blue Sage is widely used for cleansing and purification purposes, it provides spiritual strength and sometimes it is also used during exorcism rituals as well to remove the malevolent spirits. Blue Sage is a hardy bush found in the deserts of the Southwest. It’s named for its abundant blue flowers, but the leaves also have a blue-ish cast. It has thin leaves and a fragrance that is both herbaceous and floral, similar to Lavender. A close relative of White Sage, Blue Sage is also good for healing and cleansing rituals. It’s not as pungent as White Sage, and is more agreeable to some folks who find the strong, bracing scent of White Sage overpowering. The cedar tree has been revered for its spiritual significance for thousands of years. Its wood was used for the doors of sacred temples and burned in cleansing ceremonies for purification. Cedar has a long history of use in indigenous sweat lodge ceremonies and the tree was thought to house important gods and to be an entrance to higher spiritual realms. Cedar is first and foremost a medicine of protection. It is often used to cleanse a home when first moving in, inviting unwanted spirits to leave and protecting a person, place or object from unwanted influences. Cedar is often used in the sweat lodge ceremony. A few pinches are thrown on the red-hot rocks, immediately sparking into a yellow glow and releasing their aroma. The smoke of burning cedar is said to attract the good spirits and eliminate negative energies. The cedar is also one of the four sacred plants of the indigenous American Medicine Wheel and represents the Southern direction. The other plants contained in the Medicine Wheel are: White Sage representing the West, Sweetgrass representing the North, and Tobacco representing the East. The smoke of sweetgrass produces a sweet and light fragrance that is excellent for cleansing sacred spaces. Sweetgrass is believed to invite the good spirits and sweet dispositions. It is often burned at the beginning of a prayer or ceremony to attract positive energies. Like sage, cedar, and juniper, sweetgrass is used to purify the home. For Indigenous peoples in North America, sweetgrass is revered as a sacred medicine. Many see it as a cultural keystones species, reflecting a group’s cultural identity and embodying their values and beliefs. Braids of sweetgrass have been burned during ceremonies for generations by Northern American Indians. The smoke of burning sweetgrass will purify and cleanse places, objects and people. The three strands of the braid represent the mind, body and spirit, all working together in unity. Sweetgrass is still considered a sacred plant by many native tribes of North America and is traditionally used as incense in many sacred ceremonies, purifications processes, healing rituals, peace ceremonies, and initiations. It is said that the sweet smelling smoke cleanses the spirit and brings sacred messages to the higher planes of existence. ***You will receive ONE item picked at random.
