NEW – knitting pattern in English A very friendly follower Silvia has translated the knitting pattern for the popular vest into English, and I’m super happy about that. Many thanks to Silvia. Vesten vælter ind i modebilledet overalt, og det er faktisk et rigtig godt begynderhåndarbejde, fordi det går relativt stærkt. Den her er løs i faconen, og ærmegabenes dybe,…
Watch the full video tutorial for this pattern on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dw7PArMh-ds The Sailor Swift Top is a simple tank top with a slight racerback shape that gives it a contemporary look and a slight cool-girl vibe. The classic striped pattern together with the delicate i-cord edges around the neckline and armholes makes this a true wardrobe favorite that you’re going to want to wear (and knit) again and again. The top is worked top down in Stockinette stitch, so you can adjust the length to suit your body. First the back is worked back and forth, then stitches are picked up for both fronts and then all stitches are joined in the round to work the body. Lastly stitches are picked up around the neckline and armholes for an i-cord bind off edge. Sizes: XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL) (4XL, 5XL) Finished garment measurements: Bust circumference: 69.5 (76.5, 83.5, 90.5) (101, 108, 119) (132, 141) cm / 27.25 (30, 32.75, 35.5) (39.75, 42.5, 46.25) (52, 55.5) “. Length from underarm to hem: 31.5 cm / 12.5” all sizes. The Sailor Swift Top is designed to have about 10 cm / 4” negative ease. The knitted fabric will stretch out when worn so choose a size that is approx. 10 cm/ 4” smaller than your bust for a good fit. Sample in size S, Kika has a bust of approx. 87 cm / 34.25”. Gauge: 23 sts x 35 rows/rnds = 10 cm / 4” in St st on 3 mm (US2.5) needles, after blocking. Needles: 2.5 mm (US1.5): circular needle 40-60 cm / 16-24” for armhole and neckline i-cord, and for hem rib. 3 mm (US2.5): circular needle 60-80-100 cm / 24-32-40” . Notions: Removable stitch markers, tapestry needle, stitch holder or scrap yarn. Sample knitted with yarns: MC (off white in sample) 130 (140, 150, 160) (170, 180, 190) (200, 210, 220) g of Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit (100% cotton - 180 m/ 197 yds per 50 g) in color Natur 1012. CC (black in sample) 20 (25, 30, 35) (40, 45, 50) (55, 60, 65) g of Sandnes Garn Mandarin Petit 100% cotton - 180 m/ 197 yds per 50 g) in color Black 1099. Yarn suggestions: You can choose a fingering, sport or light DK weight yarn for the Sailor Swift Top. ➔ A thicker yarn, such as sport or light DK weight, will make the fabric denser, giving the finished garment more structure. ➔ A fingering weight yarn will produce a looser and more drapey fabric, giving the top a softer, more flowy feel. Below are some suggestions: Drops Safran (100% cotton - 160m /175 yds per 50g) Hjertegarn Cotton nr. 8 (100% cotton - 165m / 180 yds per 50 g) Sandnes Garn Line (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen - 110 m/ 120 yds per 50 g) Sandnes Garn Tynn Line (53% cotton, 33% viscose, 14% linen - 220 m/ 240 yds per 50 g) Knitting For Olive Pure Silk (100% silk - 250 m / 273 yds per 50 g)

You can knit Groovy as a shawl or large, deep scarf. The design is triangle shaped, has very deep ribs and notches on one side. Can be knit with 4mm needles and DK weight yarns. If you prefer a thicker shawl, use 5mm needles and aran weight yarns. You will need a minimum of 500 meters of yarn for a large scarf and closer to 900 meters or more for a large shawl. Using more yarn will result in a deeper, larger shawl. This design is quite flexible! If you prefer to knit Groovy with sock or lace weight, please see my "Groovy Lace/Fingering Weight" design.Enjoy!

Divine Drape Cowl If this cowl is one thing, it's a summer-to-autumn wardrobe staple that would look great in any color, at virtually any length. And if it's two things, it's also yet another one of my attempts at the absolute perfect cowl design: not too bulky around the back of the neck, but with enough fun in the front to attract some attention. And heck, while we're at it - why not make it THREE things -- or in other words, your next project? ;) Yarn: Premier Yarns Cotton Fair (52% Cotton, 48% Acrylic; 317 yards [290 meters]/100 grams); #27-09 Lavender - one skein The main stitch pattern. Airy and pretty, no? Needles: Straight needles in size US 3, straight needles in size US 4, straight needles in size US 8, and straight needles in size US 5 for provisional cast-on Notions: Tapestry needle Gauge: 23 stitches = 4 inches in stockinette on size US 4 needles So let's make a cowl! Using your size 5 needles and a length of scrap yarn, then, cast on 35 stitches provisionally. Transfer work to your size 4 needles and knit two transition rows, as follows: Transition Row 1 (wrong side): purl Transition Row 2: knit Knit these two transition rows, and then transfer work to your size 3 needles and we'll work a ribbing for a bit, like so: Ribbing Row 1 (wrong side): p1, * k1, p1; rep from * until you reach the end of the row Ribbing Row 2: k1, * p1, k1 * Knit ribbing rows 1 & 2 until piece measures roughly 7.5" and you've just finished a right side row. Transfer work back to your size US 4 needles. Then we'll work a few more transition rows, as follows. You'll need the following notation to continue: lifted increase (li): insert right-hand needle straight through the middle of the next stitch in the row below, and knit; then knit the stitch on your needle normally And once you're clear on that, continue like so: Transition Row 1 (wrong side): purl Transition Row 2: knit Transition Row 3: purl Transition Row 4: knit Transition Row 5: purl Transition Row 6: * li * (70 stitches) Transition Row 7: purl Work transition rows 1 - 7. Transfer work to your size US 8 needles, and then we'll begin the main pattern, which is Rick Rib from page 260 of Barbara G. Walker's A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns, and goes like so: Row 1 (right side): k1, * yo, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in back, k1, pass slipped stitch over (psso); rep from *; end k1 Row 2: p1, * yo, slip 1 stitch purlwise with yarn in front, p1, psso; rep from *; end p1 Knit rows 1 & 2 until piece measures roughly 24" (of course you can also make it longer), and you've just finished a right-side row. Transfer work back to your size 4 needles. Then we'll work some final transition rows, which you'll find below: Transition Row 1 (wrong side): purl Transition Row 2: * k2tog * (35 stitches) Transition Row 3: purl Transition Row 4: knit Knit transition rows 1 - 4. Leave working stitches on one needle, and then transfer your provisional cast-on stitches back to your other size 4 needle. Using the Kitchener stitch, graft. Tuck in ends, and, if desired, block (but I wouldn't stretch out the back ribbing, since having it all folded up nicely is the point!).
10% discount if you put 3 or more of my patterns in your Ravelry shopping cart Loops is the one accessory you have been waiting for: Simple to knit, interesting to look at due to the use of your two favorite colors, and endless possibilities to wear! Fold it lengthwise and pull one end through one of the loops, and you will have a scarf that doesn’t come off. Put the loops on top of each other with a twist, and you will have a cozy pretty cowl. Put your arms through the loops, and you can wear it as a vest. Place the loops on top of each other and pull it over your head to wear it as an attractive capelet. “Loops” is made out of two skeins of a lovely alpaca yarn that will keep you warm and cozy. The pattern is now available as a pdf download from Ravelry. The updated pattern contains written instructions as well as the charts. The original pattern is still available from Knitty.com. Scarves are utility pieces in my wardrobe. They are good both when it’s cold and when it’s just nippy, or when the autumn weather is tempting you to enjoy the last little warmth, and you don’t want to get out the thick layers, but still needs a little warming touch. Many of my scarves look just the way they are – utilitarian. I felt the need for something more, something pretty, but cool, something feminine, but not overly so. The solution was this scarf with a big, bold blade of a leaf (lamina means leaf blade) and wavy, garter stitch tips. The pattern is perfect for showing off the beauty of variegated yarn.

These mitts fit an average ladies’ hand size. The size can be adjusted by playing around with the gauge. The easy all-over lace pattern and DK weight yarn will give you a lovely pair of mitts that’s fairly quick to knit. Make a pair for a gift, and one for yourself! I used almost all of one skein of Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK. I had about a yard left -- it was close! If this is an issue for you as well, I suggest saving both thumbs to work last. Divide the remaining yarn into two balls and finish up with what you have, adjusting the thumb length to suit. I have enjoyed all the free projects on Ravelry, and this is my way to say thanks to all those generous designers out there. Need a hat to match? Check out the Cafe au Lait Tam by Kathryn C.

Sharing To share your projects and see other versions of design, use the #NivalisWrap hashtag on Instagram ❤ Nivalis wrap is a sister design to my Nivalis pullover and features the same colourwork pattern of snowdrops as you’ll find on the bottom of the yoke. The full size wrap has a generously wide wingspan and enough depth for a comfortable wrapping around the body. The long ends are easy to tie in a knot behind your back. The wrap consists of two halves, both worked from the middle towards the ends. There is also an option to knit one half only, add tassels and use it as a triangular shawl. The wrap is knit in garter stitch with two (or three) sections of inlay colourwork, which makes it a quick and easy beginner friendly project and a perfect introduction into inlay colourwork. The pattern contains a demo video of the colourwork and a separate video on how to choose the yarn. You can take a closer look at my sample and discover the design process, learn about how to choose the yarn and modification options in this podcast episode. Sizes The pattern is written for one full size with the finished wingspan of ca. 316 cm (126.5 in) and depth (width) of ca. 58 cm (23 in) and an optional half size with ca. 158 cm (63.25 in) in length. Yarn For each half: MC: ca. 584 m (639 yds) of any other sport/DK weight yarn or combination of yarns to match the gauge. The Fibre Co. took their inspiration for Arranmore Light from the breathtaking landscape of Ireland's Northern Headlands; it's a beautiful tweed yarn which knits up to a DK gauge. A blend of cashmere, silk and fine merino wool Arranmore Light is spun in a mill that traces its roots to the tweed industry of 19th century County Donegal. And with a colour palette reminiscent of the wild Irish coastlands, this DK weight yarn is for knitters and crocheters that appreciate both luxury knitting yarns and tradition. We recommend alternating skeins as you work to give an overall blended appearance.
