Nymphia Wind is a Taiwanese-American drag performer and the winner of the sixteenth season of RuPaul's Drag Race. In her "Meet the Queens" video, she stated that Nymphia comes from the Japanese name of the Pokémon creature Sylveon, while Wind comes from her aspiration to be free and "invisible like the wind".[1] "Bananas." I do love a good drag show, although I think the current trend towards exaggerated makeup, hair, and clothing takes away from the simple beauty of a man dressed as a woman. Back in the day, the more realistic your drag costume, the better; acts like Bert Savoy and The Rocky Twins made their fame […]

At some universities and women’s colleges occasional cross-dressing parties were surprisingly socially acceptable. But drag kings have been relatively obscure compared to drag queens, even on LOGO. It’s fairly easy to name four or five famous drag queens, but somewhat harder to name the same number of drag kings from today or a century ago. Midwest GenderQueer‘s JAC Stringer discussed this imbalance of attention and respect in a blog post three years ago during National Drag History...
