The most beautiful cottage for 4-5, a minute's walk from the sea in picturesque Port Isaac. There’s a timeless, Kernow-of-old feel to Port Isaac – local fisherman still haul their daily catch onto the quay, the mellow sound of sea shanties fills the air on warm summer evenings and narrow cobbled lanes meander through rows of ancient cottages.
What better way to dress up your cottage than with a piece of art made from driftwood? There's nothing more rustic than wood that's been washed ashore by
Sea Cliff scene made from driftwood i collected in 2019 at my local beach .Driftwood often arrives here after a storm and if im not looking it usually disappears on the very next tide! If i see any i collect it,clean it back at home and then set it to dry out properly in my shed, usually for a couple of years .The rope ladder i made from cotton and the little cottage and sail boat are also both made out of driftwood. Natural finish this is an indoor piece may look nice in a mermaids bathroom? Make a cool unique gift!
I've always had a soft spot for Byron Bay and the surrounding areas. Besides boasting some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia, the area is bordered by rolling green hills and quirky little country towns. This month, Inside Out magazine featured a lovely white beach house, with a touch of the Caribbean thrown in for good measure. It probably comes as no surprise to hear that the story was styled by our very own Shannon Fricke, and photographed by Prue Ruscoe. Are you ready for some Byron magic? source We've finally had some decent weather, and at long last, work has resumed on the pool. The pool guy put in a solid six hours yesterday (!!!) so hopefully it will be all done and dusted next week. But you know, when I see the floods in Wagga (thinking of you, Katrina!) I remind myself to stop whining. Having the pool finished is rather insignificant in the whole scheme of things, you know? As is having the letter 'i' pack it in on your keyboard :) Have a lovely weekend everyone,

The October issue of Coastal Living Magazine just arrived today, and inside I found this beautiful Carribean home. What was once a dark and dated 70's style house has been completely transformed by designer Barry Dixon, to become the perfect island retreat. love the door, the colour, the shutters...oh, and the herringbone paving all images courtesy coastal living magazine I know many of you are decorating for autumn/fall, but for those of us in the southern hemisphere who are heading into summer, this looks like the perfect place for a beach holiday. Love it!
I have to say, it's been slim pickings lately in the real estate world. The recent slump has seen fewer homes coming onto the market, but I did manage to find this lovely weatherboard number in Glen Iris, Victoria. I'm a sucker for a pretty Edwardian cottage, so let's take a look around: pretty, no? You can check out the link here while it lasts.
I don't want the summer to end and somehow I'm still "thirsty" for more summer mood and inspiration. This Australian bungalow represents the ideal place to spend the summer weekends - slightly retro d
So...remember my recent post on the perfect Queenslander? Well I have a little update I think you might like. Last year, I was enjoying my usual weekend real estate stalking browsing, when I came across this cottage. As soon as I saw the interior shots, I thought it looked familiar, and sure enough, the same owners had worked their makeover magic on another gem in just the next suburb: this was an original workers' cottage with a new extension added to the rear the new side entrance, linking the original cottage and the new addition if you look closely you can see some of the owners' amazing art collection love the dark floorboards and the glass louvre splashback - what a great idea! love this! the outdoor area was one of the home's best features as soon as I saw this pic, I recognised the bedhead and lampshades straight away - remember this from my previous post? all images from here So, now the big question - which do like the best? The original homes are quite different, but the common theme with both renovations is the addition of large modern extension to what was originally a small Queensland colonial. Do you like the idea of combining old and new, with the extension visible from the street? Or would you rather a more subtle approach, with no clue to what's in store? I'd love to hear what you think so leave a comment and we can debate the pros and cons! Have a great day everyone,

On my way back from Copenhagen, I stayed for a few days in cold and dark Iceland. This fascinating and stark island in the North Atlantic is fast becoming one of the top places to visit in Europe — with or without Eyjafjallajökull blowing it's top. Reykjavik is stylish and easy to get around in
Australian country house style is one of my favourites. When you have wide open spaces to build on – in this case, eight acres of prime land – you can really go to town creating a stunning homestead...
