Period costumes, Edwardian dresses, Victorian dresses, vintage shoes, vintage jewellery - I always loved it. I think I should be born in another era. And the period films - I adore period fashion. And of course I have fallen in love with the Edwardian dresses in Downton Abbey. They have made me look for other beautiful outfits from that era to get some inspiration for my new line of period dresses. This gorgeous dress is made of green shade delicate, silky chiffon (shimmering in two shades - green and capuccino), capuccino satin, fully lined. Beautifully finished with silver embroidery, silver beading, green pearls and vintage laces. Custom made cream / light yellow dress for a steampunk themed wedding. It was a special order for mother of the bride that wanted something period looking but not really 'steampunky'. Pinafores and jumpers are all the rage in the sewing and fashion world at the moment, so I thought I’d get on board with the trend in Rate the Dress this week – with a pinafore-esque frock from 1906-7. And no, it’s not for a child! Last week: a 1910s suit in purple and black Either the Rate the Dresses I’m posting aren’t interesting a lot of people, or you are all super busy. Last week’s frock, while not attracting a lot of comments, did attract most who commented. With only two exceptions it got rave reviews: it was just what you all wanted to for a day of tea and shopping in London. The Total: 9.3 out of 10 Two full points up on the week before! This week: a red velvet Edwardian frock with a hint of pinaforeness While pinafores are all the rage right now, historically we generally think of them as a child’s garment. That certainly wasn’t always the case: pinafore/jumper fronts had their moments in adult clothing as well, particularly …

The following numeric sizes correspond to subsequent letter sizes : 34 - XS, 36 - S, 38 - M, 40 - L, 42 - XL, XXL - 44 It's just a dreamy cottagecore wedding dress The dress, which was loosely inspired by the Edwardian tea dress, was always enjoyed by women during summer outdoor parties. Our dress is designed to provide comfort while at the same time exudes elegance and girlish freshness. Tea dresses are characterised by an off-white, light fabric and various kinds of lace. Deep finished with an embroidered mesh neckline, adding etherealness and romance to the dress. The cut of the dress gives an hour-glass figure. The design of the back of the dress, reminiscent of corset bindings, is fastened with buttons on the back and lined with lace and a lace belt emphasises the waist. The wide, crinkled bottom of the dress, decorated at the bottom with lace, adds lightness and airiness to the whole dress. This dress is made of delicate linen, which make it a comfortable garment to wear on warm sunny days as well as colder ones. I call this dress Lady Edith - inspired by Downton Abbey obviously - I am great fan of the series. Or alternatively as a few of my customers say - Rose's dress from Titanic. This is beautiful dress for any great event - wedding - for bridesmaids or a bride as an alternative wedding dress. For wedding anniversary, for Mother of the Bride/Groom. For prom, period ball, role play event, Titanic dinner or Somewhere in time promenade dress. My customers have ordered this dress for all the occasions above. When I designed this dress in burgundy as an affordable Titanic Rose dress, I had no idea it was going to be worn by many ladies to many different events. You could even see it it some plays and in Titanic ballet in Boston. Made to order according to your measurements. Standard length is 60" from the armpit to the hem. The dress is made of olive green taffeta, the bodice is lined with satin and the skirt just regular lining to make it lighter. I could underline it with the satin as well for more luxurious feel but it would be heavier and stiffer - if you wish to change it, please let me know. You can see hand embroidery on the bodice - silver thread and Swarovski crystals. The lace covering the shoulders gives you the Edwardian elegance and modesty at the same time. And the lace at the hem is the Edwardian touch as well. Can be made with silk instead of taffeta for additional cost of fabric. It could be satin if you want more shimmer in the dress. And any colour you wish :)
A very elegant antique, late Edwardian summer dress dating to the early 1900s, diaphanous, with great detail. One piece, in lightweight, semi translucent cotton, fastening in the back with buttons on the bodice, hooks on the waist and skirt. The front bodice panel is loose fitting, the central panel gathered in to the waist, with small pleats in to the neck. To each side are bands of floral lace, then vertical pleating. The zig zag neckline has more lace, diagonal pleated panels , with the small collar in lace. The back of the bodice has more pleating and gathers. Long fitted sleeves feature bands of lace and lace cuffs. The cinched waist is made with a lace band, the skirt A line, fitted over the hips with small darts and gathers, decorated with bands of lace and pleating. A chevron of pleats at the front echoes the shape of the neckline. CONDITION Very good, a few very small holes and some small marks. Some wear around the hooks at the waist, and possible damage to the collar ? Approx measurements - shoulder 12.5 bust 35 waist 24 length 51.5 IMPORTANT INFORMATION - The pieces i sell are often over 100 years old and rarely in perfect condition, i make every effort to describe and show any faults, so PLEASE READ THE DESCRIPTION, READ THE CONDITION REPORT, STUDY THE IMAGES AND ASK ANY QUESTIONS before buying. If you receive your item and there is a problem that wasn't mentioned in the listing please contact me and i will be happy to rectify the situation. This Edwardian evening blue dress will make a gorgeous wedding dress for an alternative wedding. Lady Mary of Downton Abbey could also wear it to a dinner. This dress was actually inspired by Downton Abbey dress because I made it in green at first. And the green dress was closely based on one of Lady Mary's dresses. The dress was a huge success but as not everyone looks good in green - myself included - I used a few different colour schemes. Here it is beautiful shade of blue, which is iridescent and changes colour depending on the light direction but is blue anyway. I also made it in white, ivory, cream, yellow, black and burgundy. I can make it in any colour you wish - as long as I find the right fabric or dye of course :) The fabric I use for my dresses is not silk but a very nice imitation of silk. I could make it with silk but most of my customers prefer lower price than silk. And even the ones that asked for the samples decided, the imitation was very food indeed and decided to sstay with it. The overdress is made of delicate chiffon - it is much thinner than regular chiffon and it is much nicer to feel. The underdress is made of silky satin or can be made with heavier duchess satin if my customer prefers thicker fabric due to colder season. I can use silk satin but I cannot guarantee the same shade due to different colours of the silk. I looked everywhere but so fat I could not find silk in that cappuccino shade. It could be underlined with silk though - please contact me to discuss any option. Beautifully finished with silver embroidery, silver beading, blue pearls and vintage laces. There is an option to have it with a lace at the neckline or without. All the dresses I sell in my shop, are designed by me and make either by myself or my lovely friend who helps me whenever I need her. If you find any pictures of my dresses anywhere beside Etsy or my other shops bearing my name, they are stolen. Unfortunately there are many designers that had their pictures and clips stolen, and we cannot do anything about it due to the lack of enforcement of the copyrights in those countries.

I have Edwardian on my mind, because I just finished a late 1910s dress, and photographed it, and am in love with the era in general. So this week’s Rate the Dress is 1910s, and you get to decide if you’re in love with it in particular. Last week: a crinoline era gown in cobalt blue Sometimes I’m completely surprised by your reaction to a garment. Last week…not so much! It wasn’t hard to guess that the fabric would be quite popular, or that the extremely long berthe might not. (I also feel slightly vindicated that a couple of half-points were lost for fringe 😉 ) The Total: 8.8 out of 10 A very, very good show, but the machine woven perfection of the fabric could not match the heart of the hand-embroidered frock the week before. This week: a 1911 theatre dress, part of a bride’s trousseau This dress was part of the trousseau of Vendla Brown, nee Hallström (1880-1964). According to the musuem, Velda wore it to the theatre the day after her wedding. …
King Edward reigned from 1901 to 1910, marking those nine years as the historic Edwardian Era. In terms of fashion, however, the "Edwardian Era" goes from roughly 1890 to the start of WWI in 1914, though many extend it to 1919. In France, the era of 1895-1914 was referred to as La Belle Époque --
About this time last year I became slightly obsessed (as I do) with the early 20th century bicorne and tricorn hat revival. Naturally that meant I made one!
