Have you ever heard of a biscornu? Up until a week ago I hadn't, but now I've discovered they are really fun to make. Here's how I made this little biscornu scissor keeper.
QR code, the new monogram Our parents used initials but we identify ourselves through our homepages, facebook, ... This one directs to our homepage (and it works!). Cross stictched on a vintage hanky passed on to me from my mother. I don't think she crocheted this one though as hers are usually embroidered and monogrammed, an aunt maybe (need to ask her).

Here are the rest of the ticks off the list to share.... My quilted crow design table runner completed! I wanted to use some of the cross stitcheries I had made.... Still need to think of how to use the stitched scissors.....that can go on next month's list I am very happy with these little pin cushions especially as I didn't have a pattern, I saw one when googling and took it from there. Mine are made from a 1" hexies. Mum has requested a blue one. That is in the works and these will go to the gift box. the reverse side... Found a way to display my travelling stitchery pattern. I have had this frame for ages and I had to turn the place upside down to find it. Whose idea was it to put it in a safe place? I have been having lots of these 'can't find it' issues lately... must organise better. I also have another cross stitch finish but I will save that till the 25th as it will be my Christmas item for this month. It has been a long time coming but it is done now. Besides my progress on my novelty hexies and quilting my Park Avenue, both of which have seen considerable progress, I also had this last finish to share. My Great Nieces quilt. The top is finished and I just need to decide how it will be quilted. I just love how bright and cheery it is. For now I will enjoy it a little longer on my quilt rack till it gets quilted. I am off to do some dreaded housework before I have to go hunting and gathering. It's ok though as I have already had some crafting time this morning tracing the rest of my Live, Laugh Love blocks. They are ready to go whenever I want to pick them up. The first three are completed and I am very happy with the result. Hope you have a safe and happy Easter break Cheers Marina

I found a nice explanation of what are "wa" quilts in this blog post. Although not a crafty blog, the author shows many beautiful "wa" quilts from the last year Tokyo show - have a look. I will dare to post a quote about "wa" meaning here: "Wa is also a prefix that designates something belongs to native Japanese culture. Washoku is Japanese food, a washitsu is a room with tatami mat flooring and paper-screen doors, wafuku is clothing like kimono or jimbei, and waji are written characters that originated in Japan as opposed to being borrowed from the Chinese language. Wa quilts, therefore, use Japanese-style designs that do indeed maintain balance and harmony in a very non-Western way. The fabric in wa quilts are typically subdued colors, but rarely without a delicate pattern or texture. Patterns and motifs simultaneously achieve balance and movement. Grand prix-First Place quilt I've already shown, but because it is a "wa" quilt, I will show it again. Quilt by Etsuko Misaka. I love it. Домики на квилтах - их никогда не будет много :-) This is my "wa" award :-) I don't think we can have enough of houses on the quilts :-) Официальное первое место в категории "Wa Quilts" - Teiko Saito. First Place in "Wa quilt" category - by Teiko Saito. Second Place in "Wa quilt" category - by Chiemi Ishii. Some other wa quilts on the show. I like this one very much! Shells, all sorts of indigo shades - great! "Houses in hometown" by Teruko Shibata: Unusual colours, beautiful quilt. "Beyond the sea" by Noriko Hasegawa. "Country antique ZAKKA" by Mariko Akahori. "My life" by Keiko Minato. "Mirage" by Shizuko Kuroha. I will post about one of my favorite artists more later. До скорых встреч :-) I have a little bit more, so... see you soon :-)

Many stitchers like to collect their orts - their little bits of leftover embroidery floss - as a measure of their stitching progress or as a reminder of beloved stitches past. (Read more about what orts are and how to use them in this post.) This ort jar with a stitched band is a pretty way to save your thread bits and pieces. It also makes a useful holder for your scissors so you can keep your stitching tools close at hand.

I'd like to especially show you this quilt as it is the first Russian master's quilt which took part in Tokyo Festival. "Winter" a great work of Olga Denesh, who completed the training in Yoko Saito's school and now teaching Japanese patchwork in Moscow: Очень нравится :-) One of my favourite framed quilts: I love everything in it! Houses, cats, dogs, tiny details, frame!!! I want it on my wall! Mount Fuji. How beautiful. I noticed that I missed many other works when compared my photos with a catalog, but you can have an impression of what was there. Have a nice day!
