Shuffle them around and have students pick a job at random. Look around and hand out to each student the “keyword card” corresponding to their chosen career. This will help them with spelling and ideas. Hand out the numbered half-sheets. Explain to students that they have to write three sentences about their chosen career without saying what their job is. At the end, everyone will share their sentences one at a time, and everyone else will have to guess what career the student wrote about. This activity is great for small group ENL work to introduce students to various careers, vocabulary surrounding them, and help students practice sentence writing on their own. To further support students, write the provided sentence starters onto a board or paper and guide them through their understanding as needed. Flashcard pages have also been provided (3-6).
