This was my entry for the Red Robin Etch a sketch a burger contest, and it won (as well as 9 other amazing pieces) for the 18 and up category. I chose the Gourmet Cheeseburger, but sans tomato since I don't like those :P If you would like to view other winners in other age divisions, check out the site! This piece, from the start of the concept sketch to the end of the final piece took approximately 9 hours. It was actually the checkered pattern that took the longest. Each line must have been layered about 20 times in the checkered pattern. I am happy with the final result, and I can't wait for my giftcard and etchasketch prizes to come in the mail!
This etching metal tutorial is a great start for making DIY metal crafts. It is as easy as stenciling and the outcome is amazing!

I found this guy named Kyle Fleming on Instagram who has been a professional Etch-A-Sketch artist for over 10 years. If he didn't post the time-lapse videos of him creating it, I would think it was fake. Instead of using straight lines to do the shading, he often creates a grey scale by etching impossibly small, intricate squiggles. Zoom in on some of these pictures to fully appreciate them.
A couple of years ago, I picked up an Etch-A-Sketch for the first time since playing with one as a child growing up in the \'90s. I\'ll admit, back then, it was one of my least favorite toys. It was so hard to coordinate those dials to create anything that remotely resembled a picture. But seeing the Etch-A-Sketch at a friend\'s house on Thanksgiving Day in 2018, I was feeling nostalgic and decided to give it another go. I surprised myself by drawing a couple of animals that were, at least, noticeably animals. I sent the pictures to my mom, and for Christmas that year, as a joke, she sent me my very own Etch-A-Sketch.More info: Instagram
