When flipping through these prints by Netherlands-based printmaker Jaco Putker it’s difficult to pintpoint the exact emotion one should feel, but generally, if it’s somewhere between amused and terrified, that’s just what the artist intends. Putker combines both digital preparation with traditional photopolymer (solar plate) etching to create collages that can be both highly ridiculous and downright frightening. He refers to the artworks as “illustrations to fables which don’t exist, but hopefully take shape in the beholders’ minds.” Putker has exhibited in countries across Europe, Canada, and the United States, and currently has work at the Tokyo International Mini-Print Triennial. Vinyl + CD + Digital Vinyl 30th Anniversary Edition Uncoated heavy stock gatefold w/ 2-sided lyrics insertStandard weight black double vinyl w/ 4th side Ani etching in white poly sleeves CD Deluxe Reissue (2019)4-panel wallet uncoated stock w/ 8-panel uncoated lyrics insert All the latest versions (digital, cd, vinyl) of Ani’s debut album stem from 2019 remastering. As Ani puts it these remastered versions of her 1990 debut de-cheese the 80s style reverb treatment of the original and improves the overall sound quality of the recording. Ani DiFranco's first album is so revolutionary that the purveyors of status quo install women's music sections in the dusty corner of their stores in order to hide it. Dorm rooms coast to coast transform into audio dub houses where young women with aching arms scratch out hand written labels and personal letters like "you have to hear this". These quasi-booking agent and pirate distributors work long into the night purchasing greyhound tickets for a certain young Folksinger to come play at their school. Today. Folk and poetry prevail. Vulnerable stories arm themselves as powerful songs on Ani DiFranco's self-titled first solo record. Ani's voice is rich and eloquent. Her guitar moves like an appendage. From cockroach pus to abortion rights the record doesn't flinch. This singer/songwriter Folk Mecca contains songs with an epic stage life such as, "Both Hands," "Out of Habit," "The Slant," and "Fire Door". Live versions of these lovely tunes can be located in such divergent locations as Living In Clip and Render: Spanning Time with Ani DiFranco. All of the tracks embody the love and humor inherent in Ani's music. Thematically this record gives a face to feminism that is both beautiful and accessible to anyone. The stories focus on relationships and humanity. We sit in the waiting room of an abortion clinic after facing an angry crowd in "Lost Woman Song". "Talk to Me Now" and "The Story" confront the inequality of the sexes in a man's world. The love songs examine relationships with the same discernment as the political ones. "Both Hands" is a hands down favorite among any DiFranco fan. "Every Angle" infuses the thrill of protest with the joy of a crush, "thoughts of you are picketing my brain/ they refuse to work such long hours without rest/ in unstable conditions at best". And the unforgettably poetic and guitarific, "Fire Door" is a heartfelt treat in its first studio recording. Hair: None.Instrumentation: Acoustic Guitar/Vocal Chords.RBR: A wee seed in the garden of songs. Misc. The poem, "The Slant" was written in Sekou Sundiata's poetry class at the New School. Sekou's own verse and style can be found in the RBR catalog of cool.AKA: First Album Original Release: November 1990

About The Artwork please notice the size +piece contains border This is an original hand pulled, unramed etching print. It is an image of pink magnolia. Plate size 13x13 cm, paper size 30x30cm. (Please notice that the image is smaller then the paper) Edition: 30 printed on Fabriano Rosaspina Bianco 285gsm. It has rough trimmed edges around. It is ready to frame it and put it on the wall or make it as a lovely gift. To make this print I use piece of copper coated with acid resistant layer of ground. Then I scratch my drawing into the layer using a sharp tool like a needle. Next I put my copper plate in to the acid bath to let the acid bites away the exposed by the drawing metal. When the lines are deep enough I clear the ground off and rub the inks into the lines of the design and then I wipe the surface clean. I damp the paper then and place it over the plate and roll it through the printing press under great pressure. This causes the ink to be pulled out of the incised lines onto the paper and creates the platemark. The last step is to dry the print and flat it down and of course sign it... please don't hesitate to contact me if you have more questions: my email: martawakulamac [!at] yahoo.ie to see more of my work please go on:http://martawakulamac.blogspot.com/ Thank you for stopping by!
