Wow, we are definitely late in posting this considering we're almost half way through 2019. Earlier this year, we shared our Top Client Appreciation Gifts and even our Top Wedding Welcome Gift Designs and somehow neglected to pull this final list together. But today is the day and here they are, in no particular order! Color Block Inspired Corporate Event Welcome Boxes When NYC-based event planning firm 23 Layers reached out to us for help designing gifts for a bright and colorful corporate event in Sausalito California, we were immediately on board. The goal was to pull together gift contents that attendees would use and enjoy but that also reflected color blocking in keeping with the overall aesthetic and theme of the event. Definitely a challenge to get so many items with color blocking in their packaging but we are over the moon thrilled with how these turned out! Gender Neutral DC Inspired Gift Boxes National IPA was planning an extremely large corporate conference and wanted gender neutral DC-inspired welcome gifts to greet their guests. We selected black gift boxes and filled them with a set of DC coasters, DC chocolate and L'Occitaine location featuring a cherry blossom design on the packaging, perfect for this spring time event. We also included a DC tourist booklet and finished them off with a logo gift tag and welcome letter affixed to the inside of the box. Paper design by Just Write Studios. 'Construction Chic' Corporate Conference Welcome Boxes This next project helped us coin the term "Construction Chic" as we set out to design elegant welcome gifts for a construction company's corporate conference. We selected crisp white boxes featuring a Washington Nationals baseball cap, a branded Yeti tumbler and a custom cookie featuring a piece of construction equipment, by Sugar Studio. We finished the gifts off with a Turkish beach towel in the company's branding colors. White House Correspondents Brunch UK Themed Gift Boxes When Politico was planning the brunch to follow the White House Correspondent's Dinner, they were looking for welcome gifts to mirror the British theme of the event. We selected red gift boxes and filled them with all things British from shortbread to English Breakfast Tea with little gold stirring spoons to gooseberry jam. We did gift tags featuring "welcome" with the Politico logo with the British flag on the other side. Definitely one of our all time favorite projects! Chicago-Inspired Corporate Welcome Gift Boxes Parkview Health was planning a corporate conference in Chicago and wanted to up-level their corporate swag. They came to us for help creating branded gift boxes that didn't necessarily look like anything attendees had received in the past. We chose crisp white boxes and included elements of black, white and green to show off their branding colors. We included branded journals with matching pen, Garrett Popcorn (from Chicago!), a container of gourmet nuts along with a logo cookie. We finished them off with a logo gift tag and branded welcome letter on the inside. Two Perrier cans served as an additional pop of green while also being completely useful. Small Yet Impactful Gender Neutral Hat Boxes This project is prime example that small gifts with just a few items can still be hugely impactful. For this DC corporate event around the holidays, we selected black hat boxes and kept it simple...one sweet (DC monument chocolates), one salty (Virginia peanuts) and a bottle of ginger ale. We finished them off with branded gift tags, welcome letters and pine cones and evergreen for a seasonal touch! Sales Incentive Rewards Trip Cruise Invitation Gift Boxes When insurance company National General was looking to announce the winners of their annual rewards trip to their sales force, they came to us looking for ideas of how to do this in the form of a gift. We absolutely loved this challenge! The trip was a Caribbean cruise and so we were excited at the thought of such a fun gift with a tropical vibe. We selected kraft boxes and filled them with branded portfolios containing info about the cruise, branded luggage tags, a branded travel tumbler and a nut mix, custom cookie in the shape of a palm tree and a travel sized SPF. We closed the boxes and included turkish beach towels in the company's branding colors on the outside just underneath the logo tag and ribbon. NYC Corporate Conference His & Her Welcome Gifts Rather than doing gender neutral gifts for their corporate conference in NYC, professional staffing firm 14 West wanted us to have individual gifts for both the guys and the gals. We began with navy blue boxes in keeping with their branding, and included two NYC items (pizza map and Mast chocolate), added a half bottle of bubbly for a celebratory vibe and then included a winter-inspired wrap for the ladies and high quality dopp kits for the gentlemen. In keeping with the season, we finished them off with pinecones and a simple branded welcome note. Las Vegas Corporate Conference Welcome Bags When our long-time client The American Institute of Architects announced to us that they'd be hosting a conference in Las Vegas and wanted to send gifts to the attendees ahead of the conference, we were completely on board! I never thought I'd ever put a LEGO set into any of our gifts here at Marigold & Grey but there is a first time for everything. With AIA being an architectural organization, Las Vegas architecture LEGO sets made perfect sense along with lollipops in the shape of dice and Vegas-sourced gourmet popcorn. All of the contents were presented in sturdy LLBean tote bags which were wrapped logo tissue paper before putting inside the shipping boxes to be sent on their way! We're so curious to know which one is your favorite! Leave us a comment in this post or reach out here. For more info on our signature Custom Gift Design Service, please visit here. Perhaps you saw us post our top 10 wedding welcome gifts of 2016. Well, today it's time to share our top 10 favorite corporate and client gift designs of 2016! White House Correspondents Dinner It was an incredible honor to be asked to design custom welcome gifts for several guests of the White House Correspondents Dinner at the Mayflower Hotel. Perhaps you recall us sharing these with you back in August. We used open white crates with a leather-bound journal, artisan chocolates, a White House pen, bubbly, cookies in the shape of the US Capitol dome by Fresh Bakes, custom welcome letter and floral bouquets from Urban Stems. Calligraphy and paper design by Just Write Studios. Image: Red October Photography Eastern Shore Wedding Planner Gift Boxes We are still head over heels for these custom welcome gifts designed for Easton, Maryland-based Kari Rider Events. The modern white hat boxes, grey pashminas, bubbly, artisan chocolates and custom paper perfectly expressed her branding. Image: Red October Photography Image: Elizabeth Fogarty Photography DC Wedding Photographer Client Welcome Boxes DC-area wedding photographer Abby Grace's favorite cocktail is the French 75 so naturally we created a cocktail-in-a-box for her couples to serve as a welcome gift. In addition to all of the ingredients needed to create the drink, we also included custom recipe cards with instructions along with branded notecards for a special personalized message to be included to each couple. They were finished off with a gift tag and Abby Grace Photography's welcome booklet. Image: Abby Grace Photography Image: Abby Grace Photography Calligraphy & Engraving Business Rebranding Launch Gifts When husband and wife team Jenny and Rick Muffler of Just Write Studios decided to rebrand in mid-2016, they wanted to send out gifts to announce their new brand to various vendors and wedding planners they currently work with and even ones they wanted to work with in the future. We incorporated their calligraphy on a hard-back journals reading "write you own story", gift tags reading "change is in the air, introducing the all new..." for the outside of each box, and a custom cookie reading "because for us, it all started with calligraphy." (The messaging on the cookie was inspired by the fact that Jenny and Rick actually met at a calligraphy conference. Cute, right?) For a celebratory feel, we included a bottle of bubbly, chocolate covered oreos from Buttercream Bakeshop in the same marble pattern found in their new branding, and a gold pen to accompany the journal. Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography The Bump Bloggers Luncheon Gift Baskets When The Knot's sister company The Bump was hosting a luncheon for mom bloggers, they wanted spa-inspired welcome gifts to pamper each guest. We designed small gift baskets with a custom logo cookie, electronic wipes, bath salts and artisan lip balm. We also added mini succulents for a fresh finishing touch! Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography Destination Wedding Planner Gift Boxes Wedding planner Claire Duran of Claire Duran Weddings and Events wanted to include her favorite Dominican coffee in her client gifts and we made that happen, then designed the rest of the gift boxes around this main concept. We included coffee cups, a tea towel, gourmet nuts for snacking and a logo cookie! Logo and tags by Little Cat Creative. Image: Marigold & Grey Image: Marigold & Grey San Francisco Corporate Retreat Gift Crates We worked with event planning firm 23 Layers on these custom corporate retreat gifts for an event at Cavallo Point in San Francisco. Artisan caramels, gourmet cookies, snack mix and elderflower pressé beverages were included to keep the attendees fed and hydrated. We also added straws and air plants for an added touch of detail! Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography Corporate Holiday Gift Boxes We loved creating these custom holiday gift boxes for MOJO PSG clients just this past December! The goal was to achieve a modern, yet hand crafted, feel. We used pine boxes, black and gold holiday candles, small batch bourbon, artisan chocolates, gourmet cookies and charger roll-ups! They were finished off with red ribbon in MOJO's primary branding color and the "Happy Holidays" gift tags featured the same font used throughout their website and marketing pieces. Image: Stacy Bauer Photography Image: Stacy Bauer Photography Maryland Wedding Planner Client Gift Boxes For these custom welcome gift boxes for Adriana Marie Events, we used monochromatic colors to highlight her brand's color palette and soft, yet modern, aesthetic. The gifts were both useful and fun with handcrafted journals and coordinating Le Pen, custom logo cookies and Sugarfina malt balls. We finished them off with simple "enjoy" gift tags, again, in Adriana's branding colors. Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography DC Wedding Photographer Client Gifts You guys went nuts on social media over these custom welcome boxes were created for DC wedding photographer Anny Photography! We included botanical print journals, modern logo cookies, artisan candles and a small vial of bath salts. We finished them off with grey gift tags with white ink as a nod to the grey in her branding. And of course, blush ribbon! Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography Corporate Holiday Gift Crates For commercial real estate firm JLL's holiday client gifts, we opted to start with large gift crates in a cherry stain. We included lots of DC-inspired items such as artisan chocolates featuring DC monuments, Compass coffee, District Vodka, US Capitol cookies, cherry blossom cookies and even a set of cedar coasters featuring various DC neighborhoods. We finished them off with "Happy Holidays" tags featuring the JLL logo. Image: Red October Photography Image: Red October Photography I actually think that was eleven instead of ten, but who's counting? We hope you've enjoyed the round-up. It's true that we started out as wedding welcome gift business back in 2014 but we quickly realized that corporations desire the same level of custom gift design for corporate events, corporate retreats, and corporate holiday gifts as well. Not to mention, they want the heavy weight of gifting lifted off of their shoulders so they can focus on whatever it is they do best! Image: Lissa Ryan Photography It's true that corporate gifts are typically more unisex, or even lean masculine, and can be drastically different aesthetically from the gift bags and gift boxes we design for our wedding planners and couples. But we absolutely love the variety that our corporate projects bring and fully embrace unisex and masculine projects! Speaking of unisex gifts, I'm excited to tell you all about one of our favorite projects from 2017 for Ensemble Health Partners' corporate retreat at the Paws Up Resort in Montana. We selected rugged pine crates and aimed to fill them with locally-inspired items to welcome their clients to town and kick off the retreat on a good note! Image: Lissa Ryan Photography We included a cedar coaster set with the state of Montana engraved on each coaster along with local jam, rustic trail mix, locally-sourced Bequet caramels, and metal wine tumblers featuring the logo of the resort! While all of these items are amazing and would delight almost anyone showing up to a corporate event, I personally believe that the custom welcome letter is just as impactful as the snacks, sweet treats and keepsakes. In this case, the paper element was a short note from the CEO along with a motivational Henry Ford quote. We made sure that the letters were branded with our client's logo and featured their exact branding colors to remain consistent with all other marketing collateral they'd be receiving throughout the event. Image: Lissa Ryan Photography The welcome letters were positioned inside the crates and we designed branded gift tags for the outside of each gift, again, featuring their logo to keep the gifts looking professional and polished even though they're not the typical "corporate swag" one might expect to receive at a work event. Image: Lissa Ryan Photography; Paper: Just Write Studios And for the last finishing touch! We sourced ribbon in their branding colors to close off the crates. Again, keeping things in line with the brand adds a level of professionalism yet the gifts still look and feel thoughtful and personal. Image: Lissa Ryan Photography We absolutely love how these turned out and from what we hear, the recipients were delighted. Music to my ears! Looking for unique gift ideas for a woman who has everything? From personalized presents to thoughtful sets, these are the best gifts for women, whether it's her birthday, Mother's Day, or Christmas.
As a professional gift designer, I often get asked for advice on what to include when curating wedding welcome gifts so I figured it was time for a three-part blog series all about these types of gifts and today is Part One! When designing wedding welcome bags, I take into consideration many factors such as location, wedding style, budget, color palette and even the personalities and interests of the couple. But overall, the most important thing is to make sure the gift are as well-balanced and as unique to the couple and their wedding as possible. Read on for some ideas today and then stay tuned because we have two more posts coming in this series later this week and next! Image: Lissa Ryan Photography Local Keepsake Including a meaningful keepsake is a fantastic way to leave your guests with something to remember your wedding by. I adore city-specific coasters or even a notecard set featuring artwork depicting landmarks of the city where you’re getting married. You can even let your gift packaging double as a keepsake by choosing a tote with a screen-printed map of the area. You can also highlight hobbies or interests that play a role in your relationship. Have fun and get creative! DOWNLOAD OUR FREE GUIDE: TOP 10 TRENDS IN WEDDING WELCOME GIFTS Sweet Treat This is a great opportunity to choose something special to you and your fiance. Do you and your fiancé have a favorite bakery nearby? Maybe an individually-wrapped brownie or cookie from this establishment would be the perfect sweet (and meaningful!) snack. Are you having a seaside wedding? Salt water taffy is a great ocean-inspired option to satisfy your guests’ sugar cravings. If you want to tie in your wedding color palette into the gift, macarons are a fantastic way to show off your wedding colors, these from Olivia Macaron. Or, perhaps you simply want to welcome your guests with a celebratory vibe. Champagne Gummy Bears or Champagne Bubbles by Sugarfina are always a Marigold & Grey favorite! Image: Lissa Ryan Photography Savory Snack Balance out the sweet with some good old-fashioned salty! Some ideas we like include salted peanuts, flavorful crackers, bagel crisps, pita chips, trail mix, popcorn, gourmet potato chips or maybe even some high-quality beef jerky. Beverage Let’s face it. It’s pretty annoying to check into a hotel and discover that bottled water isn’t included in the room. Help your guests stay hydrated especially since they’ll be enjoying cocktails and dancing the night away at your reception! For an added touch, consider sparkling water. Mini San Pellegrino bottles always look nice. Also, consider seasonally appropriate drinks such a gourmet hot chocolate for a winter wedding or a spring IPA beer from a local brewery. Image: Lissa Ryan Photography Custom Paper Goods Chances are, you have all the particulars spelled out on your wedding website as well as the invitation suite you mailed out. But, once guests arrive in town, they may not have easy access to all the info. Make it easy for them by creating a weekend timeline along with any necessary maps to help them get to where they need to be. Also, don’t forget a heartfelt message thanking your guests for making the trip. Take it a step further and create a booklet of the “who’s who” of your wedding party or even the background into your love story. Finishing Touches Lastly, pull it all together with memorable finishing touches that take the gifts to the next level and really stay in your guests memory long after the wedding is over. This means ribbon that color coordinates perfectly with your wedding palette, tied in the most perfect bow. It can even mean greenery, either inside or outside of the box or bag. Commercial mortgage company Berkadia was hosting a really special women's retreat to recognize its top female producers in the company along with some of their best female clients. Even more special? It was the very first time they were hosting this event within the company! We immediately knew we needed really unique corporate welcome boxes to welcome this group and kickoff this very inspiring gathering held at the Salamander Resort & Spa in Middleburg, VA. We knew we wanted the gifts to be luxurious and feminine but we wanted them to be even more than simply high-end and pretty. After brainstorming as team, we quickly agreed that with an event of this nature, we would design gifts featuring contents made solely by women-owned small businesses! Think: inspiring contents for inspiring women by inspiring women! For the packaging, we selected high quality seagrass baskets to instantly achieve a luxe look but also a vessel that the recipients could reuse once back at home as a reminder of the memorable event. We also wanted to source gift contents that could be used long by the women after the event was over. So instead of including all consumables as is commonplace with corporate event welcome gifts (ie drinks and snacks), we focused more heavily on spa and beauty items and even something to wear! For spa items, we included rose water toner, rosebud salve, and rose sangria body scrub. For an item to wear, we selected handmade scarves in a navy blue and white butterfly pattern in keeping with Berkadia's branding colors. For a sweet treat, we included blue raspberry gummies packaged in adorable clear gold-rimmed containers. We thought the gummies would be easy for the women to stash in their purse or tote bag as a secret little supply of sugar to enjoy while on the go! To tie in the subtle hint of blush from the rose toner within the gifts, we finished the gifts off with elegant satin ribbon in champagne blush along with navy and white logo gift tags. We also used wood basket fill for an extra luxe look. In addition to pulling the branding into the gift with the logo gift tags, we also designed custom welcome letters with a message from Berkadia explaining the significance of how the items were chosen. We loved that they fully embraced the "women supporting women" concept and agreed to allow us to include it in their welcome letter messaging to all of the recipients! We were incredibly honored to be a part of Berkadia's First Annual Women's Retreat and take the tedious task of corporate event gifting completely off of their shoulders so they could focus on all of the other many tasks on their to-do list in the weeks and days leading up to the event. Following the event, we were thrilled to hear this from our client: "Now that the dust has settled from our event and I'm wrapping up, I wanted to say THANK YOU! You took our vision and made it a complete dream! We had so much amazing feedback on all the items and the presentation. I hope that we can work together again someday soon. Until then, I will live vicariously through your Instagram." We always strive to bring our clients' visions to life while delivering a completely stress-free client experience. As you can imagine, it felt AMAZING to receive a note like this following such a special event. We believe in women supporting women and to be able to take part in this event was a huge honor for us and we hope to be involved in future events for years to come! Do you have a corporate event coming up and not quite sure how you're going to come up with unique, on-brand gifts with all of the other things on your to-do list? We'd love to learn more about your gifting goals and see how we can help. For information on our signature Custom Gift Design Service, visit HERE. We'd love to hear from you! Awesome, creative company swag, leads to good vibes and gratitude. Here's your guide to the swag options that employees really want.
When a D.C. area wedding designer Jessica Marie of Social Supply Events reached out needing help creating tropical, beach-inspired wedding welcome gifts for her own upcoming destination wedding, we could hardly wait to begin the design process. While we generally don't create custom gifts for events outside the U.S., we made an exception and were thrilled to hear that these custom welcome baskets successfully made it all the way to the Dominican Republic in the bride's luggage! Photo: Lissa Ryan Photography The goal of the gifts was to create a little excitement upon the guest's arrival and provide some comfort during their stay. We opted for seagrass baskets with neutral elements to compliment the elevated beach vibe of the wedding, planned by Virginia-based Strawberry Milk Events. For snacks, we selected coconut chips, plantain chips, and dried apricots tied with twine and a wax seal. We packaged them in our signature drawstring pouches with a soft grey first aid symbol for added customization. Image: Red October Photography For a really special addition, we added striped turkish towels and fun sunglasses for guests to use during the weekend. Due to lack of room inside the baskets, we opted to present them on the outside of the baskets, tucked underneath the ribbon, and were pretty thrilled with how they turned out! We finished off the gifts with a sprig of eucalyptus, tied off with tan raw-edge ribbon and personalized gift tags. Instead of generic tags with "Welcome to the Dominican Republic", we had each guest's name printed on their very own gift tag which took the level of thoughtfulness to a whole new level. We hope the guests enjoyed them as much as we loved creating them. For more information on our Custom Gift Design Service, reach out via our contact page or visit here.
