The Two Lives of Everett Quinn by John Paul Carinci is a Christian story about the titular character and a young teenager named Brian Sanchez, whose point of view is narrated in the first person. Brian is having difficulty at school as a result of the poor choices he seems to be drawn to, which are likely attributed to the lack of a father figure and the environment outside of his home. Following a run-in with the police and a fight at school, he meets a homeless man in the park by the name of Everett Quinn. The two form a bond and things begin to improve for Brian. But when Everett ends up in a coma and his lawyer walks into the hospital room, everything Brian thought he knew about the man is only half the story of Everett Quinn's double life. The Two Lives of Everett Quinn is a simple story that will appeal to readers of Christian inspirational fiction. John Paul Carinci imparts a faith-based narrative throughout the story, weaving it through the simplest situations and, naturally, making it a central theme in the book's (and the character's) tougher moments. I enjoyed that Everett Quinn remained true to himself, even when some of his experiences as a homeless man would push the average person to the edge. Carinci's style of writing is direct, making this book an easy to read and uplifting tale that most age groups (teens onward) of Christian readers will appreciate.
