I decided to create a challenge where I asked our community to share the best artwork they've done. It could be anything painted, drawn, etc. on paper.
I’m a fine artist, based in England and I am developing my skill at painting in my home studio. I mostly use oil paints on canvas and I tend to work in very few sittings. Sometimes it can take weeks to get a painting right and other times it can be done in a few hours.
In my childhood, I really liked to draw, and I did it as soon as I had free time. I used to draw all kinds of things, people, houses, animals, and especially cars. Unfortunately, when I went to school, I stopped drawing. There wasn't that much free time anymore. Throughout my life, I was also accompanied by new obligations, as it goes.
In 2018 before and throughout the pandemic period, I commenced a series of paintings that pays homage to the guitar and accessories used in rock music. During a time when I personally felt constrained due to health problems and then as part of the community because of the stifling effect of pandemic lockdowns and mask-wearing, I turned to the noise of an electric guitar as a vehicle to be heard. I guess the electric guitar became a beacon of communication to me like the pot and pan-clanging percussion sessions in the cities across Italy during their pandemic lockdowns.
About The Artwork I was born in 1973, and my parents were farmers. In 1999, I got enrolled into an art college with a dream of becoming an artist. I am currently a father, a husband, and a painter. The duality and struggle between a domestic life of being a parent and spouse with a working life became a subject matter to my work. My work expresses conflicts and emotions aroused from distinct social roles through figurative subjects that ranges from models and cartoon characters, to gods. For each piece, I start with a simple drawing on a canvas of a chosen figure/ image. Then, I go into a constant exploration of constructing and deconstructing the image with obsessive amount of acrylics or oils to ease out my emotions. I adapt myself and live out the society through such actions. We return to subjectivity, but not the individual; rather, an animism of a communal body - the ocean from which our subjective power rises. BIOGRAPHY Laura Soto b. 1991 • San Diego, California Biola University BS, Studio Art • La Mirada, CA Laura Soto is a mixed media sculptor living and working in Southern California. She has shown at Leiminspace in Chinatown, Los Angeles (This Never Happened, 2015 & Few and Far Between, 2016), in 2016 she contributed to MaRS Gallery's Obscured and Objectified gallery shop, Corrupted Ceramics group show with Galleria Salvatore Lanteri, and MAS Attack at the Torrance Art Museum. Her most recent exhibition was ExtraTerrestrial with Galleria Salvatore Lanteri May 20 – June 24th 2017. She explores the vulnerability and poetics of material through a variety of processes. Her practice centers mainly on large forms built of fiber that transform under the weight of media amassed. These wall hanging pieces play with the tension between painting and sculpture, inviting the viewer closer.

About The Artwork When I am walking around in the nature, by investigating my path and my creativity, there is suddenly a spark that catches my eyes, that I can reflect to its shapes, texture, and colors. this starts a creative process in me. Then I will search for a female figure with a unique mysterious look, which can be best for me to draw and to paint, so all together can be reflect out of this process. After the digital process I start a process that is more traditional, by using acrylic, ink, graphite, color pencil, aerosol paints, and whatever that is necessary for the final result. Then put an over varnish laqa to protect as necessary. My art is integrating the beauties of the nature with a mysterious femininity that wraps it.
