You don't need fresh flowers to make an event special, when you can create your own stunning rolled paper flowers! In this post, we'll show you how to make rolled paper flowers that are sure to impress! Use your cutting machine to cut out the rolled paper flower template from cardstock. The template looks like a big spiral. Rolled paper flower making TIP: If you want to use patterned paper for your flowers, double sided patterned paper works best. The size of the finished flower will be less than half the size of the template. So, don't be afraid to cut the rolled paper flower template as big as you can out of the cardstock! The rolled paper flower templates we used for these flowers can be found in the Wedding Font and SVG Bundle. You'll need a paper quilling tool. It's a tool with a slit at the end that fits onto the cardstock and helps with rolling it to create the flower shape. Insert the paper quilling tool onto the outside end of flower template. Start rolling the cardstock around the tip of the quilling tool. The cardstock will roll upon itself and build up, so just work patiently. Once you get the roll started, you may find it easier to remove the quilling tool to finish rolling the cardstock. You can roll the cardstock flower as tight or as loose as you desire. Keep rolling until you get almost to the end - stop rolling before you get to the circle at the end. Fold this circle onto the bottom of the rolled flower and secure with glue. Apply glue to the bottom of the rolled cardstock and add a little more to the cardstock circle. Then, fold the circle onto the bottom of the roll, and press to secure. If you have a nonstick silicone mat, you can press the flower onto the mat while the glue dries, and if any leaks out then it's easily removed from the silicone. You can use either hot glue or white glue. Hot glue will dry much faster, but just be careful not to burn yourself. For a more natural, and realistic looking paper flower, consider rolling the individual petals back. You can roll them back with your fingers or use the quilling tool, and you can do this either before or after rolling the flower. Here's what the flower looks like without rolled petals: Here's what the same flower looks like with rolled petals: The rolled paper flowers svg designs we used include a set of leaves, which we also cut into cardstock. When you vary the size of each template, and you end up with different sized flowers. And when you use different colors of the same shade cardstock, when you bring everything together, it creates a beautiful arrangement! Grab the files for these rolled paper flowers in the Wedding Font and SVG Bundle. Watch the timelapse video below: PIN it for later:

Use colorful materials to make these flowers!
Hello my dear friends, today I would like to share one of my new makings. I have been working on some new roses from a tutorial I had found at Anj's blog "Snowybliss". Anj makes her roses from patterned fabric and I really like the way she created them - I just put my own little twist to them. I decided to use tea dyed muslin and I also added leaves to the stems. Being a hand quilter for many years, I prefer not to use a sewing machine when I craft, because I just love to sew by hand. It is so peaceful and rewarding for me. This is the link to Anj's blog: http://snowybliss.blogspot.com/2010/06/long-stemmed-fabric-flowers.html Why not go and take a look at her lovely creations and her great tutorials? I am planning to make more of the roses soon. For my next bunch I would like to maybe dye the muslin with food coloring and see how they will turn out. Of course I will show you the result of this. Another task for me is to fix my wee old bird cage. The swing needs to be rehung again and it also needs to have a new hanging hook. I would have loved to have used something old for this project, but unfortunatly the antique store that I was planning to visit had suddenly shut down. I ended having to buy new brass wire and I am hoping to find something old and tatty hiding away in one of my boxes that I can incorporate in the project. I do hope that with time the wire will age and tarnish to match the rest of this beauty. I have also been working on a few other things this past week, which I am planning to make into small tutorials, if they work out. Hopefully I will be able to work a lot on this weekend and will be successful, so I can share something new next week some time. And last but not least ... I would like to share some old pictures from my collection with you. A young woman working in a millner factory, threading large spools. Two younge victorian girls working hard in a sewing factory. A little girl playing with her baby doll. I love these photos because they are not staged in any way. They were taken in a moment of life and I find there is nothing better than that. I hope you have a peaceful and creative day, Karen B.
