This is a mini project that allows students to explore the genre of film review through the eyes of some of the most noted critics of the past century. Designed for AICE English Language AS Level (Cambridge) courses, but could be used also in AP English Language and even in a film study course. The focus is on the language and style of a film review. File includes: 1. link to a video that examines the language of Manny Farber's film criticisms and a companion viewing guide that is centered around the language and style of his writing. 2. List of Film Review Resources and applicable web site links. Students use this as a guide to explore the work of one film critic and then talk about the style of writing. 3. Document that explains the directions for a One-Pager to demonstrate learning. This version of a One-Pager asks the students to create the document electronically. 4. Sample One-Pagers for students to see before beginning.
