There are times when we have to change things around in our home to make life a little easier. Look at things and say...do I really need this or do I really use this enough to have it take up so much space. This was a baking center that I put together out of an old desk and a top to an old hutch. Click HERE for the post. I painted it all black to tie the pieces together. I loved it and used it a lot when our family was busy. Our daughters are now away at college for most of the year, so the flow of family and friends is a lot less. Truth be told...I don't bake that much anymore!! LOL. Just a few treats for my husband now and then or for something special. What do we do on a daily basis, several times a day? We drink coffee and tea all the time. Hot tea especially on my day off. A while ago, I swapped out the original hutch for an old shelf that stored paint in the garage. Added crown molding and painted it black. Now the shelf is larger. Here is a picture from Christmas where I put the first, smaller hutch...on top of a buffet to serve wine for the holidays. Back to the coffee bar... Everything is right there at hand. The wooden boxes are very old from my grandfather's carpenters tool box. They hold cocoa packets, sugar packets, Keurig coffee pods and tea bags. Black cake stand holds sugar bowls and creamer. The drawer in the desk area holds all the travel mugs for quick coffee or tea on the way out the door to work. What are those labels on the boxes?...blank switch plate covers from the electrical department in the hardware store. Just used scrap booking letters to label. Another long tool box holds all the mugs. Line it with something to keep them clean. See the old baking center sign hidden on the right...it's sad it was kicked out. I need to make a new sign that says...Hot Drinks or something. What's the "take away" info from this post today... Change things in your home to make your life easier. If you don't use it or need it...change it. All the "big" things in life make your day crazy and busy, so change a few small things and maybe your day will be a little easier. Enjoy a cup of something today, ~Karen~

Hallelujah it's Friday! This week has been a bit crazy, so I'm happy to get the weekend started! But wait...tomorrow we have a cheer competition and three basketball games, yikes! Ok, maybe I'm happy that we are closer to Sunday :) Our days are busy, but all part of raising kids and all so good! Today, I have something a little different to share with you all. I'm guest hosting along with Kris, Lisa, Jennifer and Pam for their Best of the Nest monthly link party. I love these gals! Not only are they genuinely the sweetest group, but overflowing with inspiration. I think you will adore them! Since there was no December link party, you can link up your favorite project from either December or January or just browse through the links for decorating & DIY inspiration. We will get this party started by sharing our own favorite projects of the month. Mine is our Sunday evening dinner tradition. This meal has become such a special meal for us and one of my favorite nights of the week! Kris {Driven By Décor} Blog | Pinterest | Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin' | Twitter | Google+ Kris started off the new year by organizing her kitchen with a new coffee station. I wish she lived closer, because I would be right over to join her for a cup and chat awhile. She and I have very similar décor styles, so I admire everything she does! Pam {Simple Details} Blog | Pinterest | Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin‘ | Twitter Pam is spilling all the details about her Better Homes and Gardens Refresh Magazine shoot. Her home is so, so gorgeous inside and out, but her beautiful gardens and landscaping against the white exterior are my favorite! Lisa {Shine your Light} Blog | Pinterest | Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin‘ | Twitter Lisa revealed her living room progress. Her goal was for it to be an inviting and comfortable space to lounge in and she nailed! And her DIY wall bookcases are still one of my favorite projects Lisa has done...love them! Jennifer {Dimples & Tangles} Blog | Pinterest | Facebook | Instagram | Bloglovin’ | Twitter Jennifer shared her beautiful kitchen makeover. I'm loving all the gold accents she used, especially those lotus pendants! So fresh and pretty! Perfect. So now it’s your turn to show us the best from your nest – whether it’s a DIY project, a room makeover, a craft, or a fabulous new recipe, if it’s your favorite thing you’ve done around your home this December or January, we want to see it! And when you link up on one of our blogs, your link will show up on all five of them. Not a blogger? You can still join in the fun! Enter through Instagram by using the hashtag #bestofthenestparty and tagging at least one of the link party hosts: Kris (@drivenbydecor) Pam (@pamsimpledetails) Lisa (@lisa_shineyourlight) Jennifer (@jenniferdimplesandtangles) Becky (@thisishappiness) And just a few reminders: Link to your specific post, not your home page. Only one link per person to your best project of December or January. If more than one link is added, all but your first link will be deleted. Spread some comment love! Visit and comment on other links in the party. If you’re linking up from a blog, link back to the Best of the Nest with a text link or button link. The link party closes on Tuesday (02/03/15) at midnight - hope that you can join in!
