One of the most difficult tasks in my eyes is to find a beginner-friendly tatting project that is challenging without being too demanding.
My first original cluny tatting design Lately been playing with techniques that have long seemed mysterious to me, like clunies and maltese rings. Pushing myself to design with these skills helps bring them into my own little world, down from the "interstellar region" of things I've heard of but appeared to be distant and difficult. My first original maltese ring design I'm finding that I like maltese rings! They're really not hard. I will practice more as time allows. The blue thread is some of my hand dyed from the "Blue Streak" batch. Size comparison chart of threads that I hand dye. The knitting worsted yarn at the right is for size comparison only Someone asked about the sizes of my hand dyed thread, so here is a photo showing the threads next to each other, with a strand of knitting worsted yarn at the right for comparison.

People with tattoos know that there is a whole culture that comes along with it and it's something that the non-tattooed don't know about. You don't necessarily have to be a part of it, but there's always support between those inked. Sure there is less of a stigma now, but those with ink are still sometimes misunderstood by some types of silly categorization. A tattoo artist must be a member of some bike gang, right? If you have a not-so-discreet and god forbid funny tattoo, there's no chance of getting a proper job, right? Precisely because of these stereotypes the community behind the ink is alive and well.

"As above So below" Block printed on beveled sugar cane (and archival) printing paper. Please note that this listing is for the print only, unframed. I use biodegradable plastic and recycled cardboard to package my prints (since 2010). . A little about the artist Rebecca Cristante (myself): Growing up in a rural town in south Georgia gave me an ample first hand education of the natural world. In college I immersed myself in religious studies and ecology, fortifying my foundation of respect for the unseen connections of everything in us, and around us, which is often the theme of my work. I started focusing primarily on printmaking full time in 2010, when my first son was born. While printing has become my day job, I spend as many evenings and weekends as I can in books and paintings, some my own, some someone else’s. I make my prints the old fashioned way, with hand drawn sketches and hand carved blocks and fragrant ink. It is truly an honor and a dream come true each time I address an envelope to send my art to you. Instagram: @rebeccacristante www.rebeccacristante.com
