I have continued playing with my new Lavinia Stamps, making this card. I've used the following Lavinia Stamps for this card: Fish Set, Spirit Verse, Mini Sea Urchin, Sea Algae and Marine Kelp, stamped using the following shades of Versafine Clair inks: Shady Lane, Verdant, Bluebelle, Twilight and Acorn. Sorry for the short post, but the electricity is going on and off due to the thunder and lightening, so I wanted to upload the post while I had the opportunity.

I've been playing with more of the new Lavinia Stamps today. This card features "Jalandhar" the jelly fish. I started with a Brusho background I had prepared some time back. It had a white border, so I decided to colour it using two shades of Distress Oxide Inks: Peacock Feathers and Broken China. I then stamped the main image "Jalandhar" in Versafine Clair "Warm Breeze" ink. Around the bottom half of the card I used the hair from the new stamp called "Astrid" to replicate reeds waving in the water. I stamped in two shades of Versafine Clair Ink: "Verdant" (the lighter shade) and "Shady Lane" (the darker shade). I then stamped the sentiment using the "Deeper than the ocean" sentiment in "Warm Breeze" Versafine Clair ink. I stamped the bubbles using Versafine Clair "Morning Mist" ink with the "Sea Bubbles" stamp set. I used a white Signo Pen to highlight areas of the jelly fish and the bubbles. I finally added Ranger "Glossy Accents" to the body of "Jalandhar" and left to dry over night.

Hello Bellas! It's another Scenic Saturday over on the Bellarific blog and since tomorrow is May 1st, and the official start to MerMay, I was quite excited to dive in a bit early with a card using the gorgeous Curvy Girl Mermaid. I can never have enough mermaid stamps so when Stamping Bella added a few more to the lineup last year I was thrilled! They were released a bit later in the year so this is actually the first time I've inked up this beauty and she was totally worth the wait. I paired Curvy Girl Mermaid with some fish from the Under the Sea Creatures set and the Under the Sea backdrop. To "shrink" the backdrop so you can still see the seaweed on both sides of this A2 sized card front, first mask off the mermaid and used her tail as a guide for how far to apply the ink on first the left side of the background and stamp. Clean the stamp, then shift the card stock in the Misti over to the left until the seaweed on the right runs up the side of the card, ink just to the mermaids tail on the right and stamp again. Once you remove the mask her tail hides any gaps or overlaps, creating a seamless looking sea bed for you to color. The sentiment was borrowed from the Under the Sea Sentiments set and I thought it was a nice pairing considering all of the little fish I had surrounded her with. ;) I hope you get in on the MerMay fun this month and stay crafty my friends!
