Refresh your space without busting your budget.
Style your small spaces, thoroughfares and entryways with this new addition to our collection of natural floor coverings. Featuring a simple, yet elegant woven pattern, the Badami Mat - handcrafted in warm shade of natural jute - is a practical floor mat that will function well in the higher traffic areas of your home. The timeless woven design and neutral tone makes it perfect for adding texture to many different decor styles from coastal to farmhouse and everything in between. Ideal for small spaces and nooks like your bedside; in front of your favourite sofa and in a child's room, this rug will provide year-round softness and warmth underfoot. The Badami mat is perfect for providing comfort while standing in front of your bathroom vanity, kitchen sink or work zone and the laundry. Or simply use it as a stylish doormat for your main entryway doors, french doors, sliding or bi-fold doors or for a short hallway. Designed to last the test of time, this natural jute mat has been handmade by fair trade artisans in a rural village community of Bangladesh. The women first plait long strands of jute, and then assemble the Badami pattern row by row, before stitching the pieces together using needle and thread. A genuine Fair Trade partnership ensures the women who make our Badami mats are paid fairly, provided with consistent work and safe working conditions, among a host of other benefits that are in keeping with the Ten Principles of Fair Trade. For tips on how to clean and maintain our jute rugs, read our journal post 'How To Clean and Maintain Jute Rugs'. Do not rub stains or spills from your mat as this may spread the stain and loosen the jute fibres. For oil-based or coloured spills, please consult a specialist rug cleaning professional.- For safety purposes, we recommend that you use non-slip rubber or felt matting underneath this rug.- You may choose a mat protection treatment prior to installing the rug in your space to prolong the life of your jute mat and minimise discolouration. We recommend MicroSeal, who are experienced in treating jute mats, runners and rugs and offer a DIY kit or a professional treatment service.
If a neighbourhood is good enough for Pablo Picasso then it's good enough for us, although Barcelona's Passeig de Colom has probably changed quite a bit since the artist was here; Picasso painted his early piece Ciencia y Caridad at his first studio located here in 1897. Another 19th
