Would you like to decorate your classroom with fun, hand-drawn anchor charts/posters? Do you simply not have the time to get them done? Well, you have come to the perfect place! I love making these engaging and appealing anchor charts. I also can draw/create any other topic you would like, just contact me directly and ask! My students absolutely love these posters and references them every day. Many of them are visual learners, so the colorful images really help them connect and remember what they have learned. This particular anchor chart is for readers/writers learning all about capitalization. My students get confused and forget when to capitalize words so this "MINTS" phrase really helps them remember! **These will be copies unless asked otherwise for a custom poster. They are not laminated, and are printed on normal, anchor chart paper. I ship these out ASAP after being ordered, but please keep in mind once shipped, it is outside of my control. Therefore, if shipping does not meet your expectations, I highly encourage you to please reach out to me first, and we have always been able to work something out to make up for anything that may have occurred after I have sent your package, thanks so much!! Hope you love it :)

If anyone reads this, you know that I changed schools in April. I'm permanent! Yay! I moved to a very new building; the school opened in April 2011, so you'll see that everything looks very fresh and bright and new. I thought I'd post some photos of my new classroom. Hopefully in August/September I will post my setting up process when I "start from scratch." This is what you see when you first walk into the class. Yes, those are lovely big windows along the back wall. Looking into the class on the right, we have our meeting area with the SMARTboard. I also have two of these portable double sided whiteboards. They are FAB. I've since moved this one so that I have easier access to the cupboards behind it, and so there is more room for the children to sit on the floor. This is our computer area. These are all connected to the internet. The laptop on the far right is mine that connects to the SMARTboard. My school is open plan. All the walls between classrooms and out to the corridor can be opened up. The walls to the corridor all must be open (which took me all of a day to get used to), but the walls between each class are closed in the Senior wing. I've put borders up on the wall that divides my classroom to the one next door so that it can still open when we need it to (like for our Science Fair this week). I have a tiny wee book corner as there isn't much room for anything more, but the kids seem to like it. And yes, that's a sky-light in the next photo! I have a remote control that opens it up to let in some fresh air. It also automatically detects rain and closes on it own (a great feature to have in Scotland!). These tray shelves are brilliant. Each child has their own tray labelled with their name. In them, they keep unfinished work, personal whiteboards/pens, homework diaries, and reading books. The extra ones are used by me to store spelling resources, extra whiteboards/pens, writing resources, etc. The other photo is VERY important for the smooth running of my classroom. Children know to look to the "I'm Done" board when they are finished their tasks so they know what to do next. These photos depict my Behaviour Birds clip chart. The children each have their own peg with their name. They start on "Perfect Peacock" and move up or down depending on their behaviour. You can buy your own in my TpT store. My kids love this! As a class, there is always something they need to work harder at. Right now, it's being a quality audience. If they show that they are working towards mastering this skill, they get to add a piece to Mr. Potato Head. When he's finished, they get 5 extra minutes of play time. On one of my whiteboards, I have 3 folders for handing in any work that is not written in a jotter. Kids have to think about how they did on their task as they hand it in. Work completed in jotters already has self assessment forms stuck in them. That's the tour for now. As I add things to the new room I'll add more photos. Do you have a classroom tour on your blog? I'd love to see!

I saw this Welcome phrase over on Pinterest and knew I had to have it in my classroom. I tried writing it out on anchor chart paper, but then I decided to go designing it on the computer. Yes, I know that the E and L are both 2 shades of yellow/orange, but that's the colored alphabet clip art that I own. :) If you want a copy of it, it's over on Google Docs. My idea was to make it into a big poster through Costco or Staples (and that might still happen), to hang on the inside part of my door - surrounded by my student names. I uploaded it over and over, only the border kept getting cropped. I went back to resize the photo, and that helped with the resolution, but not the cropping. Any ideas? At present I have it printed on paper, and ready for lamination. I hope you have a wonderful day. My 2 older boys are heading out to church camp for an entire week starting tomorrow morning, and I'm already missing them. Of course this next week brings setting up my classroom - which I absolutely love to do. I just wish meetings didn't start so soon. Oh well... I hope this little poster helps you.

Come On In! I am SO glad that you are joining me on this peek into my classroom! I am so glad you are here and can't wait to show you around! My room didn't change TOO much from last year! If you are curious what it looked like last year, you can check that out HERE! I did add some fun new touches and it's a space that I truly enjoy spending so much time in throughout the year! So, let's get started! Here is my door! I made the welcome sign using scrapbook paper and my Silhouette Cameo! I made the little pencil sign using a pencil from the Target Dollar Spot and using vinyl and my Silhouette Cameo for my name. The BEAUTIFUL door hanger came from Just Plain A-Door-Able! This is the view when you walk into my classroom! I teach 1st grade in a co-taught mulitage classroom with 1st and 2nd graders! So, it is actually two classrooms in one and I get to teach with one of my best friends everyday! So much fun! Looking the other way from the door, this is what you see! I LOVE these quote posters from Blair Turner and have them all over my classroom! Since my classroom mailboxes are right at the front of our classroom, I also like to have this Reminders board to post our Class Calendar and Peek at our Week! I also put any important notes right here since I always see this when I leave our classroom! We go over our daily schedule each day during our Morning Meeting. These schedule cards make it easy for my students to know what we are doing each day! I use this side of my white board as my Focus Wall! This is where I post our Essential Questions and the Standards that we are working on! One of my favorite places in my classroom is the classroom library! We have TONS of books and I just love how cozy it is in this little corner of our classroom! How ADORABLE is this sweet little bench that my co-teacher made!? The perfect place to hold more books and for our students to sit and read a good book! On the other side of our classroom library is our Writing board and our computers. I LOVE this cart that I got from Ikea. I'm going to use it to store all my teaching materials that I want to keep close to our Smartboard! I created the subject banners using scrapbook papers and my Silhouette Cameo. But, I made a printable version that you can edit for YOUR classroom! Click here to grab the banners! Here are some more views from the front of my classroom! This beautiful print is from INKchicago! They were SO great to work with and made this custom print to match my classroom! LOVE this quote! These cute little class pets will be introduced to our class VERY soon! I can't wait for my students to be able to take Nick and Brave home on the weekends! If you are curious about how I use this Boo Boo Basket in my classroom, you can read all about it HERE and grab the FREE labels while you are there! Each of my table groups is called a "Team" and I LOVE using this to help build a community within my classroom! The students at each team need to work together to earn team points, and they have to keep their team supplies neat and organized! These drawers have been in my classroom for EIGHT years now! Yes, you read that right! They have been worth every penny and have other than being a little dirty, they have held up GREAT! I have one at each team and use them to organize a lot of their supplies and reading bags! These Trash Tubs have been a lifesaver! I used tubs from the Dollar Tree and my Silhouette Cameo to personalize them! And, my MOST favorite thing in our classroom is this board! It has become the motto of our classroom and we always focus on making someone smile! We end each and everyday with a Smile Session to discuss ways we made people smile throughout the day. You can grab your own Smile Slips and printable HERE! I'm hoping to start selling the letters for the bulletin board SOON! You can read all about how I use this in my classroom HERE! Flip Sticks are an amazing participation tool for calling on students at random! The idea of using name sticks is nothing new.
