This post about elegant colonial interiors was like a trip down memory lane. In my early 20's I was in love with primitive colonial decor. My Bible was a magazine called Colonial Homes. In fact I bought a beautiful corner cupboard with the first pay check from my first job. I put it on lay away and paid the antique store monthly until I had it paid off. I was blessed to find an old two story colonial home to restore and fill with my obsession. I had some beautiful pieces, did the stenciling like you will see in some of these photos, bought pencil post canopy beds, spinning wheels, Chippendale sofas, made some gorgeous reproduction samplers (which I plan to do a post on shortly) and had a home that looks alot like some of these homes. I only have one picture of my kitchen left because I had many old photos and items stored at my parents whose home burned in 1990. I recently visited the old house which has been turned into a photography studio and the stenciling and murals have all been painted over. It was sad but people have the right to their own styles. Even my tastes have changed since then to more of an old world elegance. I do have a very special place in my heart for the design style of this post. It is more of a lifestyle, and there is a quite elegant quality about it that is relaxing and calming, much like the French Provence style. Primitive Cat Bowl Fillers! Each Cat measures approximately 6 1/4 tall x 2 1/4 inches wide **You will receive three cats-1 black, 1 yellow and 1 white.** These are made to order. You will not receive the ones pictured but they are all made using the same process. These cats are made from muslin fabric. I then paint them with a paint and coffee stain mixture and sprinkle them with cinnamon for a very primitive look. The white cat has no paint, just the coffee stain. They have button eyes and their grumpy face, and whiskers are hand embroidered. **NOTE**- Due to the coffee stain that I use, these may smell like coffee, which is a good thing! : ) **THIS IS NOT A TOY** for **DECORATIVE USE ONLY**

Hello! This is our 8 inch wreath. We take our measurements from the outside ring of our wreath. Tip to tip they measure 22"-24". I am selling them in groups of 6 or as a single because these are my most popular wreath and can hang on a sweet farmhouse cupboard door or off a coat hook or place one on an old window and hang. By them just for you or share them with a friend. YOu save 3 dollars off on each wreath for a total of $18! Also if you place them on a tabletop they make a natural centerpiece for a wedding or any dinner party. Add a 3-5" diameter glass jar with a candle or flowers to it's center and you have a unique designer centerpiece or put it in a latern with a candle and add some florals. The sky is the limit.
A rural retreat in Carmarthenshire, this holiday let offers slow-living escapism in a traditional Welsh smallholder's cottage.
"Every wise women builds her house” A wonderful bible verse handstitched with a primitive look. It's small enough to display at church during your visual devotional. It would be a wonderful gift for a pastor's wife, fellow church member or just for your home. 5" x 7" framed stitchery PLEASE NOTE: Stitching is supposed to be uneven. It represents the primitive style of the past. I personally hand stitch all my items on muslin and coffee dye them. Your fabric stain may vary depending on how the dye is that day. They are put in a black “distressed” sanded wood frame with a sawtooth hanger. Your frame will vary from the one shown. Glass is not included, but you may request it at no charge if it’s available. Since this item is handmade, no two will be alike. These are not ready to go items and are made at the time of your order. I do take special requests on certain items. No returns accepted. Created in a smoke free home. Decorative items not included. Please "follow" me so you know when new items are posted. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS!! THANK YOU!!!!!!!!

Hello and thank you for stopping by. Here is a Colonial style wall shelf. This one is made with the classic bump in the middle that you would find in primitive wall shelves. I have painted it a smokey black and distressed it to give it that primitive look we all love. It is completely functional and beautiful. This was a customer request that turned out nice enough to offer it to everyone. This shelf measures approximately 30 inches tall by about 20 inches wide and about 5 1/2 inches deep. A great addition to your colonial or primitive decor. Thanks for taking a look and feel free to email me with any questions or comments.
