Chris Hamilton was born and raised on the East End of Long Island, and is a lifelong resident of Greenport. His family has been living on Long Island, and working on the water for at least six generations. Chris is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island, where he studied Environmental Science and Marine Affairs. In recent years, Chris has increasingly spent more time working as a bayman, and learning the trade from his father. He has always had a deep love and respect for the natural environment, and the beauty that makes the East End so unique. It is this unique beauty, and perspective as a bayman, that has inspired his photography. Chris ultimately hopes to inspire others with his images, and bring a heightened awareness to the importance of respecting and preserving, not only our natural environment and resources on the East End, but also our heritage, which is increasingly becoming a distant memory. In the summer of 2016, Chris not only won his first photo contest, but also had one of his photographs selected for the cover of Cornell Cooperative Extension’s inaugural issue of “On the Water”. He has subsequently been showing his work at various art shows across the North Fork.

After my previous post about jewellery made from cutlery, I have had two requests for more information on this type of jewellery. As I wrote previously, I like this kind of jewellery because it is inexpensive, unusual, good quality, made of recycled material, and some of it is hundreds of years old. Silver (and also…
Flatware Jewelry: It's really simple to make some fairly nifty jewelry out of what you've already got sitting around. For this bracelet I chose a stainless fork with some long tines and a bit of character, and then gave it a bit more. I like stainless steel because i…
