Curved patches and geometric blocks comprise the layered portraits by Denver-based artist Lui Ferreyra (previously). Working both digitally and with colored pencil on paper, Ferreyra overlaps outlined fragments filled with thin lines to convey shadow and light, creating nuanced portrayals of his subjects. The prismatic works shown here are some of the artist’s more recent personal projects and commissions, which show the development of his distinct style during the last few years, in addition to the contrast he continues to draw between densely composed fields of color and larger expanses of negative space. Background Despite many efforts to achieve better coordination, fragmentation is an enduring feature of the global health landscape that undermines the effectiveness of health programmes and threatens the attainment of the health-related Sustainable Development Goals. In this paper we identify and describe the multiple causes of fragmentation in development assistant for health at the global level. The study is of particular relevance since the emergence of new global health problems such as COVID-19 heightens the need for global health actors to work in coordinated ways. Our study is part of the Lancet Commission on Synergies between Universal Health Coverage, Health Security and Health Promotion. Methods We used a mixed methods approach. This consisted of a non-systematic literature review of published papers in scientific journals, reports, books and websites. We also carried out twenty semi-structured expert interviews with individuals from bilateral and multilateral organisations, governments and academic and research institutions between April 2019 and December 2019. Results We identified five distinct yet interconnected sets of factors causing fragmentation: proliferation of global health actors; problems of global leadership; divergent interests; problems of accountability; problems of power relations. We explain why global health actors struggle to harmonise their approaches and priorities, fail to align their work with low- and middle-income countries’ needs and why they continue to embrace funding instruments that create fragmentation. Conclusions Many global actors are genuinely committed to addressing the problems of fragmentation, despite their complexity and interconnected nature. This paper aims to raise awareness and understanding of the causes of fragmentation and to help guide actors’ efforts in addressing the problems and moving to more synergistic approaches.

Offering a field-tested analytic method for identifying faunal remains, along with helpful references, images, and examples of the most commonly encountered North American species, Identifying and Interpreting Animal Bones: A Manual provides an important new reference for students, avocational archaeologists, and even naturalists and wildlife enthusiasts. Using the basic principles outlined here, the bones of any vertebrate animal, including humans, can be identified and their relevance to common research questions can be better understood. Because the interpretation of archaeological sites depends heavily on the analysis of surrounding materials--soils, artifacts, and floral and faunal remains--it is important that non-human remains be correctly distinguished from human bones, that distinctions between domesticated and wild or feral animals be made correctly, and that evidence of the reasons for faunal remains in the site be recognized. But the ability to identify and analyze animal bones is a skill that is not easy to learn from a traditional textbook. In Identifying and Interpreting Animal Bones, veteran archaeologist and educator April Beisaw guides readers through the stages of identification and analysis with sample images and data, also illustrating how specialists make analytical decisions that allow for the identification of the smallest fragments of bone. Extensive additional illustrative material, from the author's own collected assemblages and from those in the Archaeological Analytical Research Facility at Binghamton University in New York, are also available in the book's online supplement. There, readers can view and interact with images to further understanding of the principles explained in the text.

Facility Integrity Management: Effective Principles and Practices for the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Industries presents the information needed to completely understand common failures in the facility integrity management process. By understanding this more comprehensive approach, companies will be able to better identify shortcomings within their respective system that they did not realize existed. To introduce this method, the book provides managers and engineers with a model that ensures major process incidents are avoided, aging facilities are kept in a safe and reliable state and are operating at maximum levels, and any gaps within the integrity management system are identified and addressed, such as the all too common fragmented reliability programs. The book approaches oil and gas facility management from a universal perspective, effectively charting out existing oil and gas facilities and their associated work processes, including maintenance, operations, and reliability, and then reconstructs them in order to optimize the way integrity is managed, creating a synergy across the various elements. Easy to read, packed with practical applications applied to real process plant scenarios such as key concepts, process flow charts, handy checklists, real-world case studies and a dictionary, provides a high quality guide for a breakdown free facility, maximizing productivity and return to shareholders.

In species-rich ecosystems such as the tropical rainforests, understanding and identifying factors affecting the patterns of diversity and distribution of birds is a very important issue for conservation biologists. Rainforests hold a high proportion of Asia's critically endangered bird species. Considering the extent to which lowland forests have been degraded or lost, isolated and fragmented forest patches may well represent the last refuge for regional biodiversity. Thus, to guide conservation initiatives for these ecosystems, secondary lowland rainforest understorey avian communities were studied to determine their responses along an edge-interior gradient with the aim of identifying the key factors influencing their composition, distribution, and diversity. In this study, the way in which understorey bird assemblages are dependent on the local environmental variables, along an edge-interior gradient, was determined. In addition, species-specific responses, composition and species richness were also evaluated. This study allows managers, planners and policy makers to better mitigate the effects of forest edge on the understorey avian community.

While many grammar and writing programs focus on identifying parts of speech and types of sentence structure, few zero in on writing sentences in a step-by-step, building block fashion. In this concise yet comprehensive guide, students are taught COMPLEX sentence structure in a unique fashion: through creating recipes! Students learn the basic sentence components from the ground up and how to add “flavor” to their writing without losing the structure and meaning of a good sentence. Avoid fragments and run-ons by teaching students the necessary structure of complex sentences and then demonstrating in increasing increments how to add detail to sentences without losing that structure. This guide offers: • Description and examples of a complex sentence. • Parts of speech that can be used to create a sentence (ingredients). • Varied student practice opportunities (recipes). • Conversion of intangibles (concepts) to tangibles (ingredients, formulas, recipes). • Methodology successful for all students, including those needing targeted and intensive RTI writing interventions. NOTE: For those of you wanting building blocks for designing SIMPLE, COMPOUND or COMPOUND-COMPLEX sentences with student practice opportunities, check out the other “Cooking Up Sentences” offerings in my store, including “Cooking Up Sentences – Recipes for Sentence Types” which is a culmination of all four sentence type offerings. In addition, "Parts of Speech - Quick Reference" offers reference sheets that help students to truly understand nouns, verbs, and other parts of speech, in turn allowing students to better comprehend the foundation needed for building different types of sentences. While I'm a seasoned veteran at teaching, I'm still pretty new to TpT and would really appreciate you taking the time to rate my product once you've tried it. Thank you!

Students will review simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences, as well as fragments and run-ons in this sentence structure escape room that contains 64 sentences on 16 task cards. Updated 5/23 to include answer explanations for each task card. This product IS included in my escape room bundle: Secondary English Escape Room Bundle Your download includes * 32 sentences for determining sentence structure (simple, compound, complex, compound-complex) * 32 sentences for determining fragment, run-on, or correct * one practice task card to model for students how to fill in answer code * teacher & student instructions for Google and non-Google facilitation * answer key for codes and secret phrases if teacher-led * teacher tips page and link to overview instruction video * four different Google forms with four different secret phrases * underlined and labeled clauses for each task card In the Google-led facilitation (a quicker version), students input answers into a Google Form and are automatically told if their code is correct for each card and awarded a letter toward the secret phrase. There are four different Google forms that receive the same numeric codes but four different “secret phrases.” In teacher-led facilitation (a lengthier version), teachers will check answers for students and award letters toward the secret phrase. Please note: The run-ons and fragments contain errors in punctuation and structure on purpose so that students identify them as incorrect. Some of the compound sentences with short or balanced independent clauses omit the comma before the coordinating conjunction (as allowed within grammar rules) so that students see a variety of structure types and style choices. This product works best if used as a review after students are familiar with the various types of sentence structures and what makes them up. Facilitation of the game (from me giving instructions to the first group solving the secret phrase) takes anywhere from 25-40 minutes depending on grade level of students and familiarity with sentence structures and errors. Due to the complexity of the sentences, this is recommended for 9-12 graders. Want to create a customized escape room bundle for a discounted price? Programmers often copy and paste source code in order to reuse an existing solution in the completion of a current task. Copying and pasting results in code clones (similar code fragments) throughout a code base, which need to be properly maintained over time. Forgetting the cloning information and correspondence relationships within a piece of code can be problematic for the software maintainer. Furthermore, inconsistent editing to clones can introduce undetected bugs, decreasing the quality of the software. This dissertation presents a suite of software tools, Eclipse plug-ins named CnP, that aid the programmer during copy, paste, and modify programming. The purpose is to provide tool support throughout a clone's entire lifecycle, from its creation to its removal from the system. More than just traditional clone detection and removal, these clone tracking tools have a particular focus on clone editing. CReN and LexId help with consistent identifier and substring renaming within clones, and CSeR visualizes user edits within a clone for better clone comparison. A user study was conducted with analysis in terms of task completion time, solution correctness, and method of completion.
This is a business strategy for the digital era. It's all about identifying the business drivers of digital revolution that's happening all around us. DIGITAL SPINE: BUSINESS STRATEGY MODEL FOR THE DIGITAL ERA As digitisation takes hold of developed economies and new companies, business trends are appearing all around us. These trends are putting to question conventional wisdom and business models of companies that have thrived for decades. Several of these digital themes and new age company business models are understood by all of us only intuitively, or through fragmented themes of articles and interviews. There is a lot of talk but no proper end to end business strategy structure defined. But in all this digital chaos there is a logic, and a structure for survival. The authors have attempted to provide a business model to help clarify how these new companies are challenging the existing corporates and world business order often successfully, and what will distinguish winners from losers in this era of the millennials. This book provides: -A Business Model to help strategise market forces and give a step by step approach to analyse directional trends; -Case studies to better clarify on how to strategise both trends and as well as threats; -An overview of the digital shift and key themes for the future to watch out for

Sentence or Fragment... You be the Judge PowerPoint Lesson and Test Prep In the sentence justice system, fragment offenses are considered especially heinous. In the classroom, the dedicated students who investigate these crimes are known as the Special Students Unit. These are their stories. In the courtroom, no one knows complete sentences better than Judge Jody. She will help to guide your students to an understanding of what makes a complete sentence and how to identify them. Students will learn that sentences need to have three things to be successful: a subject, a predicate, and they need to make complete sense. Students will have a great time finding sentences GUILTY based on the evidence given. Take your students on a journey into the courtroom as they earn a seat at the judge's table of sentence structure. This PowerPoint is great to use with whiteboards and has kinesthetic movements that students will love. There is also a notes page for your convenience. Are your students struggling to write in complete sentences? Even my high school seniors often can't tell the difference between long sentence fragments, short run-ons, and complete sentences! This PRINTABLE AND DIGITAL lesson is perfect for teaching or reviewing what makes a sentence "complete" and provides a great foundation for teaching more complex grammar topics later. The included slideshow will explain subjects, predicates, and how to find them to students. As the lesson and slideshow progress, students will stop intermittently to complete activities on the included worksheets to reinforce the new information. After the lesson, they'll finish these worksheets. The activities on the included worksheets aim to get students to access prior knowledge, identify different parts of sentences, and eventually create their own writing using complete sentences. If students need to review any of the material in this lesson, they can refer back to the included Sentences Handout. After this lesson, all you'll have to do is tell students that their sentences are incomplete, and students will have the knowledge and tools to self-edit! Neuropathic pain is one of the most common, most debilitating, most costly, and most difficult to treat categories of chronic pain conditions that are characterized by a lesion or disease of the somatosensory nervous system. Managing neuropathic pain is challenging and requires skillful assessment and comprehensive and integrated treatment strategies that are mechanism-guided, evidence-based, and individualized. However, these critical and integral elements are very fragmented in the current literature. The mechanistic understanding of neuropathic pain is typically found in basic research articles. Clinical research evidence is presented in forms of clinical trials with emphasis on minimizing biases such as those from patient selection and assessment. Individualized considerations for each patient are usually presented in case reports and problem-based learning discussions. This book overcomes these barriers and integrates all the critical elements around individual patient care into a coherent management strategy that is practical and applicable to daily clinical practice. Rather than compiling what have been published in the literature, this work emphasizes on identifying and highlighting the key points or findings that guide decision-making in clinical practice. It integrates the key points around a typical case scenario that not only represents the core of the diagnostic and therapeutic processes but also allows introduction and differentiation of painful conditions that bare similarities with the case in hand. The overarching goal is to improve clinical outcomes through better understanding of the mechanisms, more accurate diagnosis, and wiser and more comprehensive treatment strategies.
Writing Revision Task Cards help differentiate feedback and allow students to take ownership of making their writing better. During the writing process, it is important for students to know what they are doing wrong and have an opportunity to learn about and ultimately fix the error. This resource quickly and easily allows you to do both of those things! As you are reading through a draft of their papers, simply mark spots where they have an error related to these task cards. In class, hand students the task card(s) that identify their problem (you may want to prioritize). They can then go to your files, station, or small groups to work through the task on the card. I found it helpful to have a set of each application activity printed in different folders for easy access. Each card ends with the students ultimately applying their learning to fix the mistake(s) in their own paper. It is low-prep for you, high-engagement for them, and a win-win for all with better writing as the result. Task Cards address the following common writing errors: Cliches Blending quotes Run-ons and fragments Vocabulary MLA format and citation Punctuating titles of literature Commonly confused words Verb tense Each task card connects to a handout or activity (both printable and digital) to deepen their understanding of the error. These are meant to be mini-lesson reviews of the bigger skill. Answer keys included where appropriate. All lessons include a detailed lesson plan with learning targets and essential questions, clear directions, links where appropriate, ready-to-copy interactive pages, bellringers, and formative assessment exit tickets. Resources require minimal preparation ahead of time, though this varies by lesson. I've also started including separate pdf pages and images of the lesson so it can be more flexible and easily assigned in a digital classroom. Many of the pages of the pdf are also included as individual PowerPoint pages that the students can type right on, save, and submit to your LMS. ___________________________________________________________ Be the first to know about my new discounts, sales, and product launches: FOLLOW ME: Look for the green star next to my store logo and click it to become a follower. Students falling over themselves to proofread?! This is what happened in my classroom when I put up this bulletin board--before I even had a chance to introduce it! Students immediately gravitated to the board from the first day and began puzzling out the solutions, with no direction from me! With this interactive bulletin board or literacy center, students examine cards showing pictures of real-world writing errors made by adults who ought to know better. Students identify the error(s) on the card and then rewrite the example correctly. What student wouldn't want to best an adult? This 72-page e-book contains 69 error cards showing pictures of real-world writing mistakes such as spelling, apostrophe use, homophone confusion, sentence structure, run-ons, fragments, unnecessary quotation marks, capitalization, and more. I even include tips for adding to your error card collection! Because I enjoy design (and couldn't make up my mind), the book also includes 6 different styles of titles with matching themed support materials, answer keys, and complete student and teacher directions for both the bulletin board and the center. Sample images of the bulletin board and the center are provided as a guide. I have marked this resource for grades 4-6, but it is easily adaptable to almost any classroom or level. Simply choose the error cards that match the skills your students need to practice. You can make it easier by labeling the cards with included tags showing the type and/or number of errors. For the cards that contain multiple errors, you may choose to have students look for just one error as an intervention or all errors for gifted students. With this range of levels in mind, I have included titles labeled for 1st-8th grades as well as a couple of titles showing teenagers for use in the high school setting or beyond. Implementation Possibilities: Use with ELL or special needs students who are struggling to proofread or need practice in particular skills. Make additional literacy center packets to send home for extra practice. Put the bulletin board up in a school hallway or common area and challenge all students to submit answers. You could draw one winning solution from all submitted and allow that student to read the solution on the morning broadcast. Have a student teacher, intern, peer helper, or gifted class maintain the bulletin board and check the answers. Recognize student solutions in your classroom newsletter or on your class website. Post correct student solutions on the bulletin board next to the error card. If you like this resource, please leave feedback and check out my other products. I have several grammar resources in my catalog, including a worksheet packet for the Grammar Rock video series (called Grammar Rocks!), and a subject/predicate file folder game with a football theme, called The Sentence Bowl. This Resource Includes: Lesson Plan (PDF) Student Reference Handout (PDF) PARTIALLY-EDITABLE Google Slides Presentation Student Worksheets NON-EDITABLE Printable PDF EDITABLE Google Doc Answer Key (PDF) The whole resource can be seen in the preview. Please look at the preview prior to purchase to ensure that this test will work for you and your students.
