It's coloring time at the Addicted to Stamps and More Challenge, be it alcohol markers, watercolor, colored pencils, etc--all mediums are welcome. Please Note :: You can listen to me on the radio here! I am halfway through this podcast! Now back to the crochet…. This is in AU/UK terminology! So you need to convert if you are using US Terminology. This is a bit like making a granny square, only easier! And faster! I used a 3.5mm hook and baby yarn (4 ply) for this grey one. I got the clear glass baubles at Lincraft and the pink bauble is from Big W. If you are having trouble crocheting in to the first gap when you go up to the next round, if it feels like you are crocheting backwards, then flip your work over and crochet on the reverse side, as per the instructions. This pattern can be varied dramatically : do feel free to play around and go wild with this idea! The baubles I used are 20cm in circumference. But you could use 15cm balls and they would still fit, I reckon! If you go any bigger, you should add one more round (make it the same as round six) Thank you! xx your pal, PipMore crocheted Christmas decorations here and here Please make a toy for Mirabel!! […]
How to whip up a lovely piece of framed fibre art.
Who knew something so lifelike could be created out of a ball of fluff?
Isn't my little Frankie the best photo prop ever? I picked up yet another Lawn Fawn set which has proven to be very versatile. It will be even more so once I get around to using the matching dies. I tried a few variations of this card. Which is your fav? Btw, this would make a great one-layer card too. Stamp the sentiment. I liked it best north of vertical center. I did find it easier if planning to mount this to cut it to the right size prior to stamping. Mask the sentiment. I used washi tape (this particular one makes me smile but it's lost most of its sticky so perfect for masking but that's about it. Under other circumstances I would have used my Scotch removable tape.) Stamp greenery in a few colors of green for interest. Stamping off works too. Stamp a few pine cones. I stamped the pinecones in a lighter brown than the sentiment. Remove the mask and add the berries. I covered mine in Glossy Accents. So easy and entertaining. I like how each card will be similar but not the same. Truly handmade! The Details: Lawn Fawn Deck the Halls, Recollections cream 110 lb cardstock, kraft cardstock, Esse brown coverstock, Pop Tone red cardstock, Distress inks (shabby shutters, evergreen, barn door, walnut stain), Memento rich cocoa, Hero Arts Merry Christmas Messages I'm entering this in The Card Concept #23 Krafty Christmas (CAS), Allsorts #286 No Designer Papers, Just Us Girls #268 Photo Inspiration

Wow, this month is slipping by quickly! If you haven't already or even if you have, come on over and join in the fun at Stamplorations CAS. This month the optional color is black. Can't get much easier than that! For my card, I had my brother and his wife in mind. They own a travel agency and are always jet-setting around the world. For instance, in August they went to Vietnam, Burma and other nearby areas. Crazy, huh? I think this card captures their love of travel perfectly. Really simple: I stamped and masked the plane then used a Clarity brush to add sky with Distress Inks. I played around with sentiment placement then stamped them as a group, without a MISTI, thank you very much. I love how well Stamplorations stamps hold ink. Next I cut out the panel with the crazy stitching die and then embossed. Love! The Details: Stamplorations Born to Roam and Crazy Double Running stitch die, Distress Inks Tumbled Glass and Mermaid Lagoon, Memento Tuxedo Black, Carta Bella embossing folder

Hmm, it seems like my signature style might include adding that little pop of red to my otherwise plain cards. Oh, how I love that. This card was so so fun. I used another image from Papercraft Essentials (I so love them!) then did a partial die cutting thing for the snowman's hecka tall hat. Isn't he cute?! There's really a lot going on with this card if you look closely but at a glance it's so simple. Happy sigh. My current plan is to use this as a birthday card (lots of winter birthdays in my world), maybe with the sentiment "happy belated birthday! I'm just helping you s-t-r-e-t-c-h out the celebration" (from Stampendous). Cute! And, yes, I will inevitably be late for somebody's birthday LOL. The Details: Papercraft Essentials image, Spectrum Noir, Hammermill cardstock for the snowman and layer behind snowman, black card stock from my old stash, PTI card stock in white (base), Spellbinders die, Paper Studio ribbon and embossing folder, Memory Box Resting Birds dies. I'm entering this in Simon Says Wednesday Anything Goes, Seize the Birthday, CASology, Crazy 4 Challenges Favorite Stamp Set, Jingle Belles, CAS(E) this Sketch!, and Wordplay Saturday Anything.

It's time for a new Stamplorations CAS Challenge with the optional color twist of PINK. Pink, people, pink! I love pink! It's not a color I can wear very well tho--it makes my already rosy cheeks look neon rosy. LOL. And speaking of neon, I originally had stamped the colored scooter in Hero Arts Neon Ombre Ink because that's bright and fun. But, I didn't think it popped out enough relative to the other pink scooters so I colored it in with Copics. Boom! Pink! Do join in the fun! The Details: Stamplorations Born to Roam and Noteworthy, VersaFine Onyx Black, Memento Angel Pink, Paper Studio Washi, Copics

If we have one piece of advice for you, it’s this: don’t restrict lamingtons to one day of the year.
Whew, I’m still recovering from Birdie’s 6th birthday party over the weekend, visiting with family, and a massive trip to the Science Museum to boot. So today, I apologize if my words are brief, but I’ve found a sweet set of items from Flatout Frankie to make up for my blogging faux pas. Say hello …

O, Happy Day! Spring is upon us in the Pacific Northwest so I had to celebrate with a bright and cheery card! It's all about texture this month at the Happy Little Stampers Mixed Media challenge. We'd love to have you play along! For my card I decided to use a quilt die as a flower. Both flowers use an embossing folder at some point in its creation. The back flower petals were embossed with a dot folder and then I used a brayer to apply ink to the raised portions of the cardstock. For the front flower, I cut it from a panel that had been stenciled, colored and then crackle paste applied over the top. I interchanged the flower borders for more interest. The leaves are cut from a Distress Ink watercolor panel and the flower centers from a Brushos panel. The card based is sponged with a stencil. Whew! The Details: Distress Salty Ocean, Mowed Lawn, Twisted Citron, Lemonade and Crackle Paint, Versamark, STampendous Detail white embossing powder, Recollections 110lb white cardstock, Memento Tuxedo Black, TCW Ceiling Tile and Climbing Vine stencils, Lil' Inker Sun Sentiments, Paper Studio Mini Bubbles embossing folder, Memory Box Botancial Stem die, Jillian Vance Grandma's Garden Quilt Block die

I was asked by a coworker to make a holiday card for her aunt. She told me a few things about her and I came up with this over the weekend. Perfect for an older woman from the Midwest. Can't you just hear that crackling fire and taste the hot cocoa? Even the lighting when I took the pic (total accident) lends to an aura that's homey and warm, and a bit traditional. Or is it? Like so many things, you peel back the layers and you never know what you're going to find. Did I mention her aunt loves cats? LOL! This card was so fun to make. I had to design it around the cat (it's a cat--duh!). The clapboard was easy; I used my scoring board at every third line. I cut out a few of the windows in various colors--chose the black which helps focus the eye. (Also, there's a house I really admire that uses a white with black color scheme which is not usual for my area.) I attached the lace to the inside of the window frame then adhered the unit to the card. And, of course, the little red bird. The Details: Papercraft Essentials digital stamp, Spectrum Noirs, Impression Obsession sentiment from Vintage Ornaments, PTI white card stock, Pop Tone card stock in Black Licorice, Memento Love Letter, Xmas Red Stickles, Memory Box Resting Birds die, lace from stash, Martha Stewart score board, Scor Tape, Memory Box small Madison window die. I'm entering this is CAS-ual Fridays CFC119 Embossing, Cute Card Thursday 294 Animal Magic, Jingle Belles Holiday Traditions, and Simon Wednesday Challenge CAS.
Here's one way to make use of all that excess packaging you collected in 2020.
Today marks the first Stamplorations CAS challenge!!! Are you as excited as I am? This month is Anything Goes with the optional twist of Silver. I immediately thought of pink and gray together. I love that combo so so much. I used one of the Patchwork Frenzy Graphic Squares, the first I'm using of my new Stamplorations stash, overlapping as I stamped to create an ombre effect with various Distress Inks. The stamp was so easy to align by eye! I stamped the Dogwood sentiment in gray in keeping with the overall soft look. I added a sprinkling of hearts on top of the embossed panel which is inlaid with a gray border. I 100% heart this! The Details: Stamplorations Patchwork Frenzy Graphic Squares and Dogwood sentiment, Distress Ink Worn Lipstick, Spun Sugar, and Festive Berries, Hero Arts Soft Graphite, Cuttlebug embossing folder, Recollections 110lb white cardstock, Simon Says stitched rectangle and square dies, Bazzill Fig Swirl cardstock I'm entering this in Mod Squad Ombre and Fab N Funky 268 Something New, Shopping Our Stash 233 Monochromatic or Pink
