A long time ago, while staying in Paris on a work trip, I met the loveliest couple, Victor and Maria Orsenne. At the time they owned a divine little boutique hotel set right between the Eiffel Tower and the bustling food markets of Rue Cler. Well, they have just emailed me to tell me they've purchased a new property – a petit chateau in the Loire called 'Le Manoir'. The photograph of it was enough to make me want to get on a plane and go straight back to France! Here are images of the residence in summer and a winter. It was built in 1818 in the style of Louis XII. Doesn't it look beautiful in any season? It would be the perfect base for a driving tour of the Loire Valley. And as with their previous hotel, their rates are fantastically affordable – rooms start from €95. www.manoirdecontres.com/english/welcome.html

Parco Durazzo Pallavincini, built between 1840-1846 in Pegli, a town to the west of Genoa, Italy, contains a number of structures that have been left to ruin amongst the trees and bushes. The Temple of Diana, at least from a distance, survives intact to suggest the Park's original splendor. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Villa_Durazzo-Pallavicini View On Black curated in: www.flickr.com/photos/gypsyseabirdtales/galleries/7215762... curated in: www.flickr.com/photos/96185638@N00/galleries/721576228382... curated in: www.flickr.com/photos/7158635@N05/galleries/7215762319322...

Misty hills. Lonely forest roads. Plenty of vines, moss, and unkempt trees. And the cherry on top—a gorgeous abandoned building that radiates eeriness and grandeur in equal measure. That’s our dream home right there. Especially if the place looks haunted.

Nestled in the midst of the forests of Normandy, France is the elegant and romantic Château de Morsan, one of the few remaining folies in France. We walked what was to be 45 minutes in the South of France to find this Chateau, it turned into two hours, multiple circles, and stumbling upon a magnificent celebrity spa hidden within a vineyard. After 15 minutes of trying to fit in with the elite guests, we sheepishly walked up to the front desk asking for directions to our final not-so-elite. We had been going the right way all along, who knew?! After rejuvenating in the air conditioning of the rich mans lobby, complete with chilled wine and a list of rooms that start at $600 a night, we made our way. Hidden away from the main street, tucked behind a long driveway of giant sycamore trees was this rustic, quiet, and breezy compaound. Within the compound we discovered the secret gardens and chateau. This was one of my favorite experiences, the gardens were so relaxing. We had the place to ourselves, minus two or three tourists. After all, it was the beginning of May, and apparently the French vacation for half the month of May! My outfit of the day, it was too warm for a hat! Dress: Zara. Who wants to go with us on our next trip to France?!!
