I was hoping to get three more bookmarks done before Saturday. Well, I managed two, but don't know about the third. I had to go into the Pain Clinic today for an injection and it took them 3 tries to find a vein for the IV...sheesh! Not sure the resulting swelling/bruising is going to let me get the last one finished (it is started though...started it last night watching an Encore presentation of the Beatles Special) In the mean time, here you go.... This bookmark is missing the last row, which I very seldom ever add. This bookmark is based on a bookmark posted by an InTatters member. My own stitch counts though. To me, it looks like a rotated version of Jane's Bookmark using Lock Chains between elements. The last bookmark, should I get it finished is my pattern for the Twisted Celtic Clovers Bookmark, done in Ocean Turquoise and Daffodil Yellow. (Oh, I'm SO ready for Spring! Can you tell? lol)

Alternate Names Bamblit, Fribolite, Bucholzite, Monroelite, Selmanite, Mineralogy Named after the Geo-Chemist Benjamin Sillman. Sillimanite is a Orthorhombic Alumino-silicate nesosilicate mineral. First discovered in the year 1824 in Chester, USA. Sillimanite can be found in Brandywine Springs, New Castle County, Delaware (USA), Sušice (Czech Republic), Laacher See, Spessart, Bodenmais in the Bayerwald (Germany), Sellrain (Austria), Auvergne (France), Meghalaya (Nordeast India) and Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Enderbyland (Antarctic). Gemology Perfect Sillimanite crystal-mineral specimens are one of the rarest, most highly prized, and most expensive forms of Sillimanite. Oval cabochons display the cat’s eye Adularecence in the most effective luster brilliance. And Because most sillimanite specimens are slight to almost entirely opaque and full of parallel-aligned inclusions, the cat’s eye cabochons are the most available form on the market. Faceted Sillimanite gems are scarce since flawlessly clear translucent specimens are a tiny fraction of all the mined Sillimanite. The excess material left from The lapidary production of the gemstones is used to produce tumbled rocks and beads and frequently displays chatoyancy. To tell between a real and a fake Sillimanite, essential laboratory equipment is used to look at the combination of hardness, fracture, tenacity, density, and refractive index. Though highly skilled gemstone veterans can quickly recognize with a microscope alone. Fun Facts Sillimanite is a dispeller for negative things in your life that you want out of it. Have you ever asked her a recipe? Aunt's cookies are delicious, pasta has that special taste, but when you ask the recipe you're like starting a no-sense chat. "Take a glass of milk" - which size, how much milk? - "Handful of flour" - obviously you must know what her hand looks like - "a spoon of sugar for each glass of milk"... I lost years to catch recipes from my Italian aunts, it seems they have got food scales only as decorative objects. Priscilla, class 1909, I think she was a sweet aunt, in fact her directions for tatting are as clear as the aunt's way to pass recipes on! It says fasten a 2nd row (that is the inner insertion of rings) of rings 4-2-2-2-2-2-2-5 ??? Unbalanced? What? OK, you know it needed some test tatting. Then you should tat 4 little detached flowers with 4 petals of 6-2-2-2-2-2-2-2-6, to be placed at corners. "Make a row of insertion all the way around and put flowers in corners". OK aunt, I'll do it. I tried two versions, then I think that rings should be 4-2-2-2-2-2-4: Thread is dmc size 100, pattern is from Priscilla Tatting Book #1, page 12, picture 30. It wasn't difficult tatting the flower in the corner without cutting the thread, just leaving the sufficient bare thread. Technology helped to find a good placement: Ciao, Ninetta

This is motif #21. I tatted this motif with Marilee Rockley's lovely HDT. This color reminds me of Hello Kitty and hearts. It is from Myra Piper's book Tatting. This is one of 2 motifs that are on the front cover of her book. My new book: Went to Mitsuwa Marketplace earlier today - for the Summer Bon Dance Festival. Had a delightful time. Kinokuniya Books is in the marketplace - there were other tatting books; however, I really liked this one. DS has a discount card - which was helpful! I thought the linen pieces with edges so attractive.
