Puusellusta 5G -tietoverkkoihin Frederik Idestam perusti vuonna 1865 Tammerkoskelle puuhiomon ja 1871 toisen Nokianvirran varrelle. Näin sai alkunsa Nokia Aktiebolag. 1910-luvulla pahoihin talousvaikeuksiin joutunut yhtiö siirtyi Eduard Polónin omistukseen. Polónin omistukseen kuului jo entuudestaan hänen perustamansa Suomen Gummitehdas Oy ja vuonna 1922 Gummitehdas osti Suomen Kaapelitehdas Oy:n. Näin syntyi ’monialakonserni’ Nokia, vaikka yhtiöt toimivatkin vielä

Yesterday's thrifting find: Pretty scalloping! Nice details overall, and they are in good shape. The rubber is cracking a little at the upper edge, where it's sort of striated, but the rest of them looks great, and the rubber doesn't look or feel dry at all. There are two stamps under the sole, one…
There is a widespread belief that the term “flapper” was first applied to young women in the 1920s because of a fad among college girls for wearing their rubber galoshes unfastened (rig…

At Memory Lane The glass has encased bubbles and stress marks on the top. The top is ground – that is it was sawed off. This was a common practice during this period. As I understand it, this once had a metal top to it that said “Bear” on it. I have no idea what it was filled with. Wale’s Goodyear made rubber and these rubber overshoes in the 1880s and very early 1890s. They operated in Naugatuck, Ct, Worcester, Massachusetts and other towns in the area. They sold these rubber “galoshes” to the larger cities like shoe sellers in Boston. Material: Antique Heavy Glass Color: Clear Approximate Creation Date: Around 1880s or 90s (a guess) Where Created: Unknown Approximate Dimensions in Inches: 3 3/4 long on the sole, but 3 7/8 length overall x 1 1/2 wide on the fore front of the sole & 1 3/8 on the heel of the sole & 1 5/16 wide at rim x 2 1/8 tall at the heel Markings on both sides of the shoe: WALES GOODYEAR (If there is an apostrophe between the E and the S, I can’t see it.) Markings on the bottom: None Condition: Very Good Antique Condition As mentioned above, there are stress marks on the back of the shoe at the opening. They were created as the glass was cooled. There is glue all around the sawed off top. That is what they used to attach the metal closing. In addition, there is a glob of this glue on the inside of the shoe. Lastly, there is one chip on the rim. This may have happened when they removed the tin top. I really do not know. It is located on the rim and right above the buckle. How did Ladies stay fashionable and warm in the Winter in the 1930's? Let's have a look at part 2 of my series; Winter Fashion By Decade. See the 1920's here. These gals look chilly! Long coats were popular baring nude legs. No thick socks or boots! Fur is still popular, but not as lush as in the '20's. I love those hats! Just like in the decade before, skiing is popular. Fashionable sweaters are now really becoming a fashion outside of sports. I love these boots and over shoes. I actually remember my Grandmother wearing these in the 70's. I always thought I would get to when I was older. Where can I find these? Of course, if you were as glamorous as Marlene Dietrich, this is how you would stay warm.
