On the main level, you find a 2-car garage that includes a workshop with a built-in workbench. Upstairs you'll find a wonderfully efficient 1-bedroom apartment with an open floor plan that makes great use of the space. The kitchen includes a pantry and a large island with a snack bar and is open to the vaulted great room. A large covered deck is accessible through sliding doors and shares the vaulted ceiling with the interior. The master bedroom and the main living space share a convenient bathroom. The project consists of three components: a writer's office, a painter's studio, and a kid's playhouse - all linked together by a switchback staircase. The second story office façade angles to capture the view of the San Fernando Valley. The façade’s gesture is echoed by the angled interior wall that slices through the office, separating the work area from the bathroom and storage.
