This year’s garden features a beautifully fluid, circular design, at the heart of which visitors can see the two new rose varieties in bloom for the first time.

We visit the Cotswold for the Daylesford Farm Summer Festival 2014...

Hello everyone! Are you ready for the weekend? I know I am! I thought I would share some favorite cottage details with you. These are things that I think make up a charming cottage. First, is the exterior. A cottage means "small house" with lots of country charm (to me). I think this one fits the bill nicely. source Inside, it would have to have a cozy fireplace to snuggle up to and slip covered comfortable seating. source The kitchen would have to be very casual and homey. Full of country touches and lots of sunlight. source The dining area would be intimate and slightly feminine. source The master bedroom would feel spacious and serene, yet cozy at the same time. source And the backyard would feel like a private oasis. These are just some of the details I would look for in my cottage. That is really the approach I take to living in my own house. I decorate by the "feel" I want the rooms to have. I think decorating is more than just matching fabrics and selecting furniture. It's about creating personality. I'm not talking about adding whimsical things either. Just that there is a presence about your home that is felt from the moment you enter. Do you know what I mean? I think that's what keeps rooms from looking like they belong in a furniture showroom. That's why we gravitate towards magazines. We're looking for the right "feel" of a room. We are all drawn to different types too. Do you have a certain "feel" that you gravitate towards? Thanks for stopping by! ~ Kelly ~
I don't actually hate gardening. I am just clueless at it. I've never gardened in my life but last summer I caught the gardening bug...in a big way. My house is a small one story ranch style home...not a lot of personality...well at least not my kind of personality. I imagine we live in a little cottage in the middle of wild flower fields where birds can talk and I can sing like Snow White. You get the point. But in reality my house looks like this. Not a good picture of the house since you can only see part of it but it is a good picture of what my front yard used to look like. Plain. My little brain went on overdrive and I got overly ambitious last summer. I decided I was going to make myself a cottage garden...white picket fence and all. I told my friends and they just said "You're crazy and that is why we love you." So I ripped out my front yard and went to town. This is what it looks like after a week. And how come nobody told me how expensive gardening is? That little project costed me an engagement ring. But boy,was it worth it? Sorry for the blurriness of the pictures. I am really hoping most of them come back after this brutal winter. I have big plans for the backyard this summer. So on this cold snowy night, this is what I am daydreaming about. pinterest pinterest pinterest Can you imagine waking up every morning to this? pinterest pinterest I mean whoever is going to put beautiful white lace on the grass to read a book clearly doesn't have my OCD...but it sure is lovely to look at. pinterest I can see the girls and I having lunch in this garden every day. pinterest You had me at roses. pinterest Hollyhocks and Lupines are my favorites. pinterest My dream backyard. pinterest This would be where I will run in my flowing white summer dress and sing with birds and squirrels and other small rodents. pinterest pinterest One of the many reasons why I need a hobbit hole. Oh spring, how I long for thee. I know some of you are expert gardeners. I am going to need all the help you can give me this spring. Love, Victoria
