Here we are, back at the Kuzma Garden. I ended yesterday's post just as we were approaching this section of the garden, one of my favorites... I'm sure you can guess why: monster Agave ovatifolia! My phone for scale... So so so gorgeous. And this! Leucadendron argenteum It's not hardy here in Portland, but John does find a way. His large Acacia baileyana 'Purpurea' either perished in our horrid 2016/17 winter and was replaced, or was severely cut back and has regrown from the base. I forgot to ask which. The patio cover (slanted root visible over the palm) must make for lovely rainy afternoon drinks in the garden. Of course I had to admire the fountain/water feature. Another favorite focal point of mine. I do love an understated Canna flower. And a pop of Alstroemeria color. (okay...but I couldn't decide which photos not to include, so I included them all..) Moving on now... Melianthus major 'Antonow's Blue' or 'Purple Haze' — I think it's 'Purple Haze'. Lush! So very lush... Caesalpinia gilliesii The Agave crevice garden... Many of the Agaves were hit hard by Portland's ugly winter. Luckily quite a few survived. Abutilon 'Red Tiger' Leonotis leonurus had gone a little crazy, in a good way. I must remember to track this one down come spring. Cunninghamia lanceolata 'Glauca' (I think). Heading back towards the house and lower garden. Variegated Daphniphyllum One of only three I know of here in Portland. And the first one I ever saw. That's a wrap on this visit, time to go relax with friends and a glass of wine (that's Mark, Gaz and John having a chat)... All material © 2009-2018 by Loree Bohl for danger garden.
