A blog about life, being a mom, our home remodel, our kids, our dog, and Seattle!
This past weekend was filled with a ton of snuggles and a little antiquing. I get asked all the time what brings me inspiration when I'm feeling uninspired... Well, there are many things but my number one thing is to go walk around a creative boutique, flea market, or antique shop. This weekend we walked around a couple antique shops & of course I found a few items that inspired me to freshen up some spaces in our home for spring. One of the areas that I had some fun with was in our entryway. It's looking like spring here
Style your small spaces, thoroughfares and entryways with this new addition to our collection of natural floor coverings. Featuring a simple, yet elegant woven pattern, the Badami Mat - handcrafted in warm shade of natural jute - is a practical floor mat that will function well in the higher traffic areas of your home. The timeless woven design and neutral tone makes it perfect for adding texture to many different decor styles from coastal to farmhouse and everything in between. Ideal for small spaces and nooks like your bedside; in front of your favourite sofa and in a child's room, this rug will provide year-round softness and warmth underfoot. The Badami mat is perfect for providing comfort while standing in front of your bathroom vanity, kitchen sink or work zone and the laundry. Or simply use it as a stylish doormat for your main entryway doors, french doors, sliding or bi-fold doors or for a short hallway. Designed to last the test of time, this natural jute mat has been handmade by fair trade artisans in a rural village community of Bangladesh. The women first plait long strands of jute, and then assemble the Badami pattern row by row, before stitching the pieces together using needle and thread. A genuine Fair Trade partnership ensures the women who make our Badami mats are paid fairly, provided with consistent work and safe working conditions, among a host of other benefits that are in keeping with the Ten Principles of Fair Trade. For tips on how to clean and maintain our jute rugs, read our journal post 'How To Clean and Maintain Jute Rugs'. And for inspiration on how to use jute mats and runners, take a look at 'Entryway Style Tips to Create a Warm Welcome' Size How it's made Care 140 x 60cm / 55in x 24in approx. - Plaited warm natural jute fibres- Each piece is crafted by hand stitching rows of plaited jute, using wooden frames as guides to maintain the correct shape and size- The shapes are hand stitched together with jute thread and a border is added to the rug - Our mats are crafted entirely by hand with natural jute and special care is required to maintain their beautiful appearance.- We suggest regular vacuuming of both sides of your mat to keep it fresh and free of dirt build-up. Occasionally take your rug outside on a dry day and shake or beat it to dislodge deeper dirt particles that your vacuum may not extract.- Avoid prolonged direct sunlight or heat as this will discolour the jute fibres.- Blot water-based spills with kitchen paper or an absorbent cloth as soon as possible. Do not rub stains or spills from your mat as this may spread the stain and loosen the jute fibres. For oil-based or coloured spills, please consult a specialist rug cleaning professional.- For safety purposes, we recommend that you use non-slip rubber or felt matting underneath this rug.- You may choose a mat protection treatment prior to installing the rug in your space to prolong the life of your jute mat and minimise discolouration. We recommend MicroSeal, who are experienced in treating jute mats, runners and rugs and offer a DIY kit or a professional treatment service.

At some point in life, it is common to require the services of a professional locksmith. This may either be during an emergency, most especially when you leave in a hurry and can’t trace your keys, or when changing your home's security systems.
H&M Home ranks high up on our list of affordable interior pieces. Here we share our favourites from the new collection.
En välskapt men ordinär 1950-talsvilla i gult tegel fick ett rejält lyft och seglar numera i en skön japansk air som spänner över tre plan med öppen planlösning.
I brought a body and the great Tokina 11-16mm with me on a trip to London (and to the incredible St Pancras Hotel where I stayed one night), but no tripod... I did figure out that I could use the elaborate wrought iron staircases as a stabilizer/tripod, as well as floors and stairs...
