It's funny how many of my blog articles start with a disclaimer, but I've never personally attended the Tucson Gem Show (#goals). I credit this entire article to members of the Metalsmith Society community who reached out to share their experiences! PLANNING AHEAD What people call the Tucson Gem show is actually more t
Before I get into it --my birthday along with Cassondra Justine Jewelry’s birthday is this week!! -- make sure to read to the end so you don’t miss the birthday surprise! Alright-- let’s get down to the Tucson deets! . Wow. What a TRIP! Going to Tucson this year was a whole different level of necessary! We have all been cooped up for way too long. When I realized that the Tucson Gem Show was postponed rather than cancelled I mentioned it to my mom. Of course she booked us a hotel room immediately. Haha - she was on it! Even though I was excited, I wasn’t sure if the trip would actually happen because I wanted to make sure I would be fully vaccinated in time in order to feel comfortable taking the trip -- and thank goodness I was able to get my second shot JUST IN TIME! It felt like a bit of a miracle! . When the time came my mom wanted to travel by car…... so let’s just say it was a very longgggggg drive. Lol. 20 hours to be exact. We made it to Tucson in 2 and a half days - if it were up to my mom we probably would have switched off and driven through the night and made it in one - I don't know where that lady gets her energy! . The first day that we arrived we went straight to one of the jewelry shows and I found some GEMS! I have mentioned before that I am super drawn to clear quartz and I thought that these stones were STUNNING. I loved the “S” shaped stones because they were so unique -- I knew I must have them-- let the spending begin! . . As much as I love going to gem shows it can be a bit overwhelming -- I am always afraid I am going to miss something because there are so many stones! I want to see it all! We stayed until the show closed that night and checked in at an adorable boutique hotel called the Tuxon. We had a great night hanging out and enjoying the adorable set up by the pool, it was a much needed relaxing night. . . The rest of the trip we went to show after show! If you’ve ever been to the Tucson Gem show then you know that there are tons of different tents and locations that are set up all around the city with different vendors and gems. The show this year was actually much smaller than years prior, regardless, it was still a lot to see! There weren’t quite as many people attending this year, which for me was actually a benefit. I was able to talk with more vendors and ask more questions which means...I BOUGHT MORE STONES! Lol. . . . . . . . Since being cooped up for such a long time I have been craving happy and bright colors! I have really enjoyed incorporating more color and playfulness into my wardrobe and makeup and I plan to do the same in my jewelry-- so if you notice a lot more color in my stone choices that is no accident! Check out some of the gorgeous stones I bought below! Reach out if you see a stone or two you love, we can work together to make you something incredible! . . . . . The Tucson Gem Show is always one of my favorites and I would definitely encourage anyone who is interested to attend a show -- it is pretty mindblowing to see so many gorgeous stones and so many of the shows are free and open to the public! One of my favorite shows is the Pueblo Gem and Mineral show because it has tons of giant, mind blowing stones! . . . . . It was such a great time, and I really loved attending this show again with my mom. To be honest, even my jewelry friends aren’t as entertained at the gem shows as my mom is! That must be where I get it from! While on our Tucson trip we also were able to eat at several really great spots, check out the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum, and stop at some of the gorgeous national parks on the drive there and back. It was an unforgettable experience and I look forward to next year attending again with my mother and gem loving companion! . . . . . . . . . . Since I was able to gather so many incredible stones that will soon become jewels I wanted to kick off the month of May ( My birthday month!) with an awesome sale this weekend! All Jewelry will be 30% off for my second year turning 30!(last year doesn’t count, so yes, I am 30 again!) Woooohooo! This is the biggest discount I have ever done ( and will probably ever do!) so if you’ve had your eye on anything or know of some birthdays coming up later in the year -- now is the time to scoop up these gifts! The next sale won’t be until Christmas so make sure to take advantage while you can! Now go make a list of the things you may need and come back Friday morning to grab them! The sale will be Friday and Saturday only! It’s not just my birthday but Cassondra Justine Jewelry came about 3 years ago today! Cassondra Justine has been a slow growing side hustle for a few years but I am so excited to be pouring my whole heart into my jewelry this year! Thank you so much for your support -- it seriously means the world!

Colorado has a lot to offer gemologists and rock hunters. Before you visit, learn about Colorado gemstones as well as notable gem shows, museums, and clubs.
Seriously, how do you expect us to pick a handful of favorites when there were so many jaw dropping highlights to come out of the Tucson Gem Show?! We saw some of the world’s most famous mineral specimen, were soothed to the floor by crystal singing bowls, sat on benches carved of amethyst, and everywhere we looked, there were piles of crystals charging in the sun. Hundreds of vendors travelled from across the globe to exhibit their rare and spectacular specimen for the world’s largest gem showcase. As we talked with each of them, bonding over the treasures they brought, we remarked on the immense power that crystals have to bring people together. It didn’t matter how calm our morning meditation got us, the second we walked into the show, the buzzing of competing crystal frequencies zapped the calm right out of us. The sheer amount of energy coming from this year’s crowd of over 55,000 people was overwhelming on its own, but add to that the fusion of high vibrational energies being cast off of troves of healing crystals, and you can imagine the intensity felt by all. Regardless of how many times we go, it never changes. We are always taken aback by the amount of unique finds and something always manages to take our breath away. This year, it was these top 9 experiences at the Tucson Gem Show that really got our blood pumping: An Insider Look at our Favorite Moments of the Tucson Gem Show Sound Healing with a Real Life Quan Yin We were at a low in our energy and drive by the end of our trip when we stumbled into a room of singing bowls. Heather laid on the floor and prepared to be washed with the vibrations of the crystal bowl, but was instead met with the married harmonies of the bowl and a real life Quan Yin. A woman dressed in white, with a voice to match the purity of her clothes, had sat down next to Heather begun singing along with the bowl. She radiated positivity, and her joy was contagious. Our mood was immediately lifted and we left the room feeling more energized than when we went in. This moment from yesterday was just too magical not to share. Her divine voice was truly one of a kind, and her energy was one of a real life Quan Yin. 💎🔮✨🙌 @heather_askinosie #soundhealing #singingbowls #singingbowl #crystalsofig #crystalsofinstagram A post shared by Energy Muse (@energymuse) on Feb 5, 2017 at 9:21am PST Electric Shungite All of the vibes felt in Tucson were electric, but a scientific demonstration proved that Shungite’s electric conductivity was more than figurative! Did you know that Shungite is the one crystal that can conduct electricity? We didn’t! Bumblebee Jasper Yes, we FINALLY found it. It is a notoriously difficult mineral to score because the volcanic mine where Bumblebee Jasper is located has recently activated from its previously non-dormant state. Yikes! The Herbal Junction These were the most magical herbal elixir pick-me-ups of our lives! We stopped by for a “magic potion” almost everyday for a little recharge. The herbal mixologists at this little pop-up from Colorado simply asked you for what you wanted to feel like after and created the concoction of your dreams! There was an herbal formula for everything! Lifting your spirits up, a boost in brain power, radiant beauty and more. Out of this World Included Quartz There were whole worlds within the amazing Included Quartz crystals we found. Some new pockets of mines were found to have pyrite and calcite cube inclusions. Every included quartz develops in a way that is special to that crystal; they all have a story that is unique to them. As you look inside Included Quartz, you are reminded of the beauty that is the individual journey. Crystals take millions of years to develop. Holding an Included Quartz helps us to see that we are never done forming and that no change is too late to make. What’s the story you’ve been telling yourself that no longer serves you? Included Quartz will bring you the clarity and confidence to see what steps you need to take in a new direction. Experiencing the Magic of Blue Lace Agate We met the son of the proprietor who discovered the famed Blue Lace Agate mine in South Africa. He showed us Blue Lace Agate in its raw form, and it was just as extraordinary as when it’s polished. Selenite from Chihuahua, Mexico Next to the Naica mine, the most famous selenite mine and arguably one of the most renowned crystal mines in the world, are several other selenite mines that produce just as large and pure selenite crystals. The selenite’s appearance was as pure as its energy. Aura Crystals It’s a good thing someone already named these, because if it were up to us, they’d be called Magical Unicorn crystals. Enough rainbow vibes beam from these whimsical crystals to inspire a fairytale! A rainbow to brighten your Sunday 🌈 #tucsongemshow #tucsongemandmineralshow #tucsongemshow2017 A post shared by Energy Muse (@energymuse) on Jan 29, 2017 at 12:49pm PST Tibetan Sound Healing We had the unique opportunity to try out some of the new instruments on the space clearing and sound healing scene. Giant Gems Some of the most spectacular moments were just standing in awe before massive crystal clusters and towering points. What can we say? We’re suckers for a big rock! We're stirring up the energy with @heather_askinosie over on @mindbodygreen! Took over their insta story for the day at the #tucsongemshow. Head over for an insider look 💎🔮🙌✨ #tucsongemandmineralshow #tucsongemshow2017 #mindbodygreen A post shared by Energy Muse (@energymuse) on Jan 31, 2017 at 6:59pm PST
