Geometric Progression. by David Kamerov davidkamerov.tumblr.com
When I started to put this article together I knew two things were going to dominate the subject matter. Architecture and lighting / shadows. Properly photographed architecture is an art unto itself, doing so that showcases the unique aspects of a building, or portions of a building really takes your breath away. Same thing can be said about light and how shadows have a direct impact on it. Framing these photos it's hard to say if the photographers goal was to showcase geometric patterns as the primary focal point, but they sure did a great job of it. Photo by

We've always been obsessed with symmetry, be it the Taj Mahal, or that perfectly shaped tomato in your grocery basket. Increasingly popular Instagram account Symmetrical Monsters is one more source for symmetry lovers.

Symmetry is usually defined as a sense of "balanced proportions" or "the quality of having parts that match each other," especially in an attractive way. And, when you think about it, it is all around us. Whether we look at human beings, architecture, art, or biology, there’s nothing more fascinating than seeing how the world is full of perfect forms and harmony.

Geometric forms are those which correspond to named regular shapes, such as squares, rectangles and circles. I like the fact that not all naturally occurring objects are organic and it is the precision and regularity of forms within the natural world which I find particularly inspiring. Below are just a few of many examples.

Immerse yourself in the serene simplicity of the harbour life with our inspired print. This piece hones the essence of minimalism, depicting Mallaig Harbour through a harmonious blend of muted tones and geometric precision. The composition is a masterclass in understatement, featuring an array of beautifully understated edifices in a delicate palette of pastel hues that evoke tranquillity and a sense of timelessness. Each building is rendered with just enough detail to convey its form, while the sparing use of line and shadow captures the unique architectural characteristics without fuss or extravagance. The sea, mirroring the sky in a glass-like finish, bestows upon the scene a polished calmness, interrupted only by the elegant promise of adventure as illustrated by the poised boats. Reflections dance softly on the water's surface, adding depth and a subtle dynamism to the overall tableau. This print invites contemplation and a blissful quietude, with its minimalist approach creating a sense of space that allows the viewer's imagination to wander. It's a perfect addition to any setting that seeks to evoke peace and offers a modernistic tribute to the natural beauty and quaint charm of this coastal spectacle. The 'Modern & Minimal' collection, where this piece resides, promises to bring a contemporary aesthetic to the walls it graces while maintaining an air of effortless sophistication.

About The Artwork Chroma Morphose is an exploration of color as a subject and the perception of light as an autonomous reality. The selection of shapes and colors creates a situation of spacial ambiguity that invites the viewer to think carefully what they are looking at. The work explores issue of scale, perspective, transparency and juxtaposition. Very much influenced by Kinetic and Optical Art, this body of work is an ongoing experiment on form, balance, perception and illusion. Chroma Morphose considers elements that are related to not only photography but also sculpture. The creation of new colors and shadows is very specific to the medium of photography, but the two-dimentional rendition of the constructed scenes considers angle, dimension and shape, all elements inherit in sculpture.
