It has been a few days since I last posted! So let me fill you in on my last week. I will start with my class I did on Saturday... It was a blast. Leanne my student was a fast learner and was really into it, I feel confident that she came away from the class with a brain stuffed full of a new skill, she even rented the machine a second day so she could come back in a practice! One of the things I did for the class was made up some practice sheets for the students to take home, and I am sending each student home with a dry erase board that way they have something to practice on. I find the dry erase boards an excellent way to teach. I also got Alindsey's quilt bound and the boarders on Karen's quilt. My favorite thing I did this week was quilt Torrie's Bargello in the round... This quilt was made by my 16 year old as a graduation present for a friend, she got stalled for a while due to work and school so it lounged around not quite finished. Well she found out last week that her friend will be home for Thanksgiving, so she finished the quilt and ask me to put it on the frame... I spent about 4 hours quilting it, it is a sun rays pattern, and it turned out very very well! I should have gotten a picture of the back too! So here it is quilted but not bound (mainly because it is hard to hang once it is cut off the backing) I spent the evening binding it. Now it is finished and ready for her friend. I have to say this is a beautiful quilt and I am super proud of Torrie for even attempting it! Well time to run Rach to school. Thanks for stopping by, Happy quilting Ginny

Although Valentine's Day is only a week away... It's near St. Patty's Day too and what better way to celebrate than with a little green ;) The Fat Quarter Shop has developed another fun Classic and Vintage pattern with the Jacob's Ladder block. They have even made a video. To make a quilt just like The Fat Quarter Shop, they put together a great quilt kit and backing set with Reflections fabric by Jo Morton. If you want to use your stash...well then you can do that too, just like I did. As soon as I saw the quilt along pattern I knew I wanted to do it in scrappy green fabrics. I chose various scraps from my bins that were already cut and ready to piece. One of the REAL advantages to all that sorting I did last year. I am still cutting, sorting and well destashing! I love how it turned out. I am contemplating adding borders and making a 'seasonal' pillow. Check out what the other bloggers did with their Jacob's Ladder blocks over at the Jolly Jabber.

Where does the time go?! I have been back a week and haven't had time to blog about my trip. (The 12 hour days at work this week haven't helped ;) The shows were phenomenal as always. The spring shows are smaller, but I still manage to spend more than my budget lol. I took a few photos of a few booths to share: This grouping of needlepoint pictures really caught my eye. The four small pictures represent the four seasons. But alas, none of them went home with me. I was happy, as always, to see one of my favorite folk artists in Tuscola at "A Rural Life" - Ginny Henson. She has wonderful antiques and most of her creations are made with antique materials. I am thrilled to tell you that Ginny has a new website: ginnyhensonblog.wordpress.com You can also click here to see some of my past purchases from Ginny. Although now that I look at it myself, I realize that it isn't pulling up all the blog posts as I didn't label them correctly. You can also click here to see if Ginny has any upcoming shows in your neighborhood. I get to see Ginny again next month! She will be at the Spring Country Folk Art Festival at the Kane County Fairgrounds March 21 - 23, 2014. I can't wait :) I also spent a lot of time in the wonderful booth of Jacque Bradford. Jacque had some truly wonderful antique sewing necessities. I could have spent my entire budget in this little corner of her booth! And look at these wonderful silhouettes - be still my heart! Jacque has a Facebook page and will be at several more shows this year: Art & Antiques at Osage Farm April 26, 2014 in Charleston, Illinois Country Antique Market July 12, 2014 in Bishop Hill, Illinois A Gathering on the Prairie November 8, 2014 in Arthur, Illinois (I will definitely be there!) So many beautiful treasures and never enough money lol. Although the photo didn't turn out well due to the glare on the glass, I just had to share :) Two of my favorite places at once. I will post again soon with the treasures that I found. "Listen closely, you who diligently work for justice and look for the Eternal One, for what is fair and true. It would be good for you to look back, look to the place from where you came, the rock out of which you were shaped and the quarry from where you were mined." ~Isaiah 51:1 Blessings, Patti
