Full of bohemian personality, incredible gothic architecture and a huge list of hot spots (food alert everyone!), Glasgow’s West End is one of the best parts to explore and stay in. With everything in a walkable distance (a bonus when the Scottish weather brings a fair few showers), I couldn’t help but put together a little list of recommendations for everyone that’s heading to gorgeous Glasgow’s West End. A classical, but nonetheless pleasing, view of the tower of the main building from the aptly named Snow Bridge. The Snow Bridge is a foot bridge over the River Kelvin off Dumbarton Road. The tower and Glasgow University's main building sits atop Gilmorehill. The main building itself is in the Gothic style, was designed by Sir George Gilbert Scott and is made of local white sandstone. It was built, in stages, between 1864 and 1870. When a fire ripped through the Glasgow School of Art on May 23, it destroyed part of the Mackintosh Building, a beloved, world-renowned landmark designed by the Scottish architect Charles Rennie Mackintosh. As smoke billowed from the century-old structure, students, teachers, and alumni stood outside and wept.
