Don't @ me with "I remember all of this and I am 12," 'cause no, you don't! This is for "old people" only!!!
Full disclosure, I’m a ‘90s kid, born and bred. It’s utterly ridiculous how much I miss watching Sunday morning cartoons while eating a huge bowl of cereal and playing with my beloved toys.
I don’t remember any of these things…but then again, half the time I don’t remember where I parked my car. If you are under 55, you simply won’t understand. For those who remember – a trip down mem…

I've got the scars to prove it.
Don't you love a blast from the past. Remember when it was safe to climb on a metal jungle gym and girls wore dresses to school or if you went to the library and needed to look something up this is what you did way back when. So speaking of the past, I'm finally done and ready to share a quilt I started way back in the fall of 2015. When I first saw Di Ford's book Primarily Quilts, I knew I wanted to make the hexagon quilt she calls Route 66. I had never done English Paper Piecing, EPP, before, but immediately discovered I loved the accuracy, the rhythm of the handwork, making neat stacks of hexagon shapes, and the crisp edges of each of those pieces shaped around paper. Fussy cutting the fabric is not a new concept, but a fun one to experiment with, especially when you're using the hexagon shape. The top has been done for over a year. I just couldn't decide how to have it quilted. The only area where the quilting was really going to show was in the light surrounding hexies. I finally settled on this simple swirl to make the look more modern. The real stars of this quilt are the colors and fabrics so in the center hexies my machine quilt, Kathy, and I decided to still keep it simple by accentuating the hexagon shape and a simple motif in the centers. I was super pleased at the results. It may have been started awhile ago, but it's technically my first finish of 2018! You've got to love a Hexie quilt, even when it's a blast from the past. Until Next Time- Kyle
Deep inside our brains is an ocean of memories, emotions, and feelings that can be unlocked by the correct application of sights, smells, and sounds. Without warning, the theme song of a childhood cartoon or the smell of that one aisle in the corner store by your house can teleport you to another time. It might feel like magic, but nostalgia is a very real phenomenon.

Ah, the good old days! There’s nothing like a taste of nostalgia to boost your mood whenever things get tough. You think back to your childhood and you realize how carefree you probably were. Not to mention how much simpler life used to be!

Remember these? Last night, my husband and I started talking about the things we did for fun when we were kids growing up in the 1930's and '40's. Our conversation stemmed from a piece of writing a woman in my Memories Writing Group had done. She listed so many forgotten toys and games and I know it triggered memories for many others in the group of seniors. She ended by saying that though she grew up in the depression years and times of great drought here in Kansas, she and her friends were oblivious to all of that. They grew up having fun with what little they had. She learned much later how difficult it had been for her parents and other adults in those years. For those who write memoir or family stories, here's the list Ken and I put together last night. Hopefully, some of what is there will trigger memories and inspire you to write. For the younger readers, it may be of interest to you to see how we entertained ourselves with the simplest things. For all my readers--your family would appreciate your memories of what you did for fun, the games you played, the toys you had as a child. They're sure to be different from what the kids of today have, whether you grew up 7 or 2 decades ago. The List roller skates that clamped onto shoes, skate key to tighten, then wear around your neck on a shoelace jacks marbles jumping rope simple homemade kites, a tail made from Mom's rags spinning tops sledding ice skating (if you were lucky enough to have skates) dodge ball baseball on a school playground or in a park--no special field provided football in the park or someone's back yard outdoor games like Red Rover, Hide and Seek, Tag and Statue croquet ping pong badminton paper dolls coloring books indoor games like Monopoly and Checkers cap guns dress-ups (using Mom's old clothes, hats and shoes) Let us know if you have any others to add.
You all know how much I loooove remembering my past. Well it’s time again to reminisce. I’m a child of the 70’s so I thought I would have some fun with some of the items from the …

Nostalgia for past decades exploded with the phenomenon of Stranger Things. It made us love '80s fashion, glam rock, and even mullets.

Castlefest is a festival to honour the sun, which at the Celts was worshipped as the god Lugh. This god brought mankind a lot of good things; he taught us how to grow grain and he warms the earth, so that the grain can grow and we can eat. The old Celtic harvest feast Lughnasadh is held in honour of this god. To this day heathens and Celtics alike celebrate this feast yearly around the first of August, also on Castlefest!
