If you've been here awhile you may remember this sweet llama as part of a CAL (crochet-a-long) we hosted back in 2018. They were such a blast to make and recently I decided to go back through and revise the pattern for you! What's changed? Step by step pictures have been updated to be more clear and helpful in your making process. I have also adapted the pattern to include the head into one piece with the legs and body. No more sewing it on separately at the end. To keep the legs, body and head as one piece I shortened the neck slightly as well as taking away a tiny bit of the width. This will help keep the neck strong and virtually wobble-free. You'll also want to make sure your stitches are on the tight side and that your neck and shoulders are firmly stuffed. Everything else in the pattern has remained the same. I forgot how much fun this pattern was to work up and am totally planning my next one with some super soft velvet yarn! For this lady I used WeCrochet's Comfy Worsted in the shades White, Parchment, Flamingo and Peony. It's a worsted weight made of 75% Pima Cotton and 25% Acrylic yarn. I used it last Winter for our Nativity CAL and loved these shades for our llama! If you're new to amigurumi this is fun project to start on. You can also find more tips to walk you through it below! Cut the strands to even length. Assembly - Sew the ears onto each side of the head at the 5th round from the top. With body color we will make the “woolly” patch between the ears. Create a slip knot and slip st into the st closest to the ear as pictured below. Chain 16 and slip st into the next st. Continue this process until you reach the other ear (completes one row of “wool”). Slip st into the next st towards the back of the head to make one more row back across to the first ear. Lastly, I folded the scarf in half around the neck and pulled the ends through the loop. Your llama is complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern. Meet Amy the Amigurumi Doll! She was inspired by a bunny I loved on my daughter's shirt. The skirt shirt combo caught my eye and every time I saw it I wanted to try and crochet it as a doll! My daughter was thrilled their outfits matched as well! She measures about 14 inches from head to toe and is a great pattern for beginners! The legs and body are made as one piece making the pattern work up quickly! This pattern was originally released as a CAL (crochet-a-long) that has now ended, but it will remain a free pattern here on the blog which is why I have combined all parts of the pattern into one below! Be sure to join the Grace and Yarn Crochet Group on Facebook so you can share your WIP as you go and ask any questions you have along the way! I have used plastic safety eyes in this pattern but if you would prefer an alternative I have a tutorial for crochet eyes here! The pattern will be worked in the round and I highly recommend using stitch markers if you don't already. This is one material you don't necessarily have to purchase. A piece of scrap yarn, safety pin or bobby pin will work just fine! You may make and sell items made from this pattern but please do not sell, share or reproduce the actual pattern. If you sell finished items online (Etsy, etc) please provide a link to the pattern and credit to me as the designer, thank you. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Stitch markers The biggest question I had when first making amigurumi dolls was finding yarn for different skin colors. Here's a few to try out depending on the shade you are looking for. I love that there are MANY options, making it easy to make your doll in the likeness of the little one you want to gift it to! Legs and Body- Make 2- Starting with skin color Round 1: Create a magic circle with 8 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch (16) Rounds 3-30: SC around (16) Fasten off (do not fasten off at the end of the 2nd leg, see below) *Round 31 joins the legs together and starts the body * Round 31: Chain 4 and attach to the first leg with a SC, SC in the remaining stitches around the leg, when you reach the chain make a SC across each of the 4 chains, SC in the remaining stitches of the next leg and across each of the 4 chains (you will have SC on both sides of the chain 4 now) (40 SC) This completes your join and is where your next round will start. *Quick note- This can be the trickiest part if you haven't made a project with this technique. The chains are like a bridge connecting the legs together and we want to crochet around the entire piece to make it one. * Rounds 32-36: SC around (40) Change to skirt color Round 37: SC around (40) Round 38: SC around in the blo (40) Round 39: SC around (40) Change to shirt color Rounds 40-48: SC around (40) Round 49: SC in the first 3 stitches, INV DEC, rpt around (32) Round 50: SC around (32) Round 51: SC in the first 2 stitches, INV DEC, rpt around (24) Change to skin color Rounds 52-53: SC around (24) Fasten off and leave a long tail for sewing Skirt With color of choice (Note: The skirt is not worked in continuous rounds, you will be joining each round at the end) To work the skirt, have your doll’s body towards you and feet away from you (see pictures below for example) and we’ll work around: Create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 38 (For a cleaner look attach at the back of the body) Round 1: Ch 1, DC in the same stitch and in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (40) Round 2: Ch 1, *DC in the same stich, DC INC in the next*, *repeat around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (60) Rounds 3-7: Ch 1, DC in the same stitch and in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (60) Fasten off and weave in ends Head With skin color *Note: Cut a strand of yarn about 10 inches long, this will be used for the nose halfway through* Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch around (12) Round 3: SC in the first stitch, SC INC in the next, rpt around (18) Round 4: SC in the first 2 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (24) Round 5: SC in the first 3 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (30) Round 6: SC in the first 4 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (36) Round 7: SC in the first 5 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (42) Round 8: SC in the first 6 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (48) Round 9: SC in the first 7 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (54) Rounds 10-19: SC around (54) Note: Here is where we will add the facial features before we start closing the head. Insert the eyes between rows 16 and 17, 9 stitches apart. Place your eyes where you would like them and then remove to embroider your eyelashes before attaching the washer to the back. (This creates a little hole to help see where you want your eyelashes to go.) Nose and Smile- Using same color yarn, place the nose two rows beneath your eyes and 3 stitches in on each side (this will leave 3 stitches in the middle and this is what you will pass your yarn through to create the nose). Pass your yarn through 4 times (or as many as you would like for a thinner or wider nose). Using your pink embroidery thread (or pink yarn) make a ‘V’ for the smile. *Stuff your head as you go. Round 20: SC in the first 7 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (48) Round 21: SC in the first 6 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (42) Round 22: SC in the first 5 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (36) Round 23: SC in the first 4 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (30) Round 24: SC in the first 3 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (24) Round 25: SC in the first 2 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (18) Round 26: SC in the first stitch, INV DEC in the next, rpt around (12) *Make sure the head is fully stuffed before closing Round 27: INV DEC around (6) Fasten off and sew remaining part closed, weave in your end Hair Hat With hair color To make the hair we will make a hair hat or wig to sew on. This is very similar to the spine hat we made on the amigurumi Hedgehog! Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch around (12) Round 3: SC in the first stitch, SC INC in the next, rpt around (18) Round 4: SC in the first 2 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (24) Round 5: SC in the first 3 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (30) Round 6: SC in the first 4 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (36) Round 7: SC in the first 5 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (42) Round 8: SC in the first 6 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (48) Round 9: SC in the first 7 stitches, SC INC in the next, rpt around (54) Rounds 10-14: SC around (54) Round 15: DC in the first 26 stitches, sl st in the next 2 stitches, and DC in the remaining 26 stitches (54) Fasten off leaving a long tail to sew onto the head Hair Cut multiple strands of yarn about 16 inches long. I wrapped yarn around my crochet case (you could also use a DVD or something similar) and cut one end. This will speed up the process as you will need MANY strands of yarn. Take your first strand of hair and slip stitch through a stitch from round 14. Continue this around for each stitch on rounds 13 and 14. Put on a good movie, this part takes some time but the hair is so cute it's worth it! When you have all of your hair on, line up your hair hat onto the head and sew on. The part can either be in the middle or off to one of the sides. I placed mine just above the highest part of the eyelashes. Using your bent tip or straight needle go through one of the stitches on your hair hat and into the top stitch on the head. Continue around until hair hat is secure and fasten off. Pull the hair back into a ponytail and secure. I used a piece of the same colored yarn with a double knot. No need to weave in the ends, it will blend in nicely with the others! Hair Tie With color of choice chain 19, HDC in the 2nd chain from hook and in each across (18) Fasten off leaving a long tail, place around the ponytail and sew ends together. Trim any hair that seems uneven. Arms Make 2 *Lightly stuff the bottom of the arms only* With skin color Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch around (12) Round 3: SC in the first 3 stitches, SC INC, rpt around (15) Rounds 4-5: SC around (15) Round 6: SC in the first stitch, INV DEC, rpt around (10) Rounds 7-13: SC around (10) Change to shirt color Rounds 14-23: SC around (10) At the end of round 23 pinch the arm flat and make 5 SC across the top to close, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the body. Assembling the body- Sew the head onto the last round of the body, making sure to have the facial features centered. Add more stuffing as you go to make it firm and less wobbly. Feel free to use pins to hold it in place. I like to place the head where I want it and see what round on the bottom of the head I want to try to sew onto, it gives me a visual and helps keep it even all the way around. I used the same technique here as when we attached the hair hat to the head. Last, sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at row 50. Your doll is complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern. Feel free to add a little bow or flower to accessorize! The flower in the Berry Patch Bunny or bows from Emma would make a great accessory!

Happy Friday friends! I'm super excited to introduce you to Lily the Lamb! She's just as ready for Spring and florals as I am. Everything around us is starting to bloom and giving a little hint of what's to come. With so much time at home it's just what we needed to brighten things up! If you too are looking for a new project to keep you busy at home I hope Lily brings some joy and comfort. Her pattern works up quickly with the legs, body and head as one piece. There's minimal sewing required and she ends up about 8 inches tall. You can also change her features for a super cute boy version. A bow tie like this one used on the Berry Patch Bunny would be the perfect touch! You can also pair Lily up with this headband to make a set for gifting this Easter or Sprinng! New To Amigurumi? Pull the circle tight and slip stitch to the first petal to close, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Leaves – Make 2 Complete the following inside of a magic circle; SC, HDC, DC, TR, Ch 1, TR, DC, HDC, SC. Pull tight to close and secure, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing. Assembly – Place a front and back earpiece with wrong sides facing each other and sew together. Pinch the sides together at one end and sew together to form the shape of the ear. Be sure to leave your remaining tail for sewing onto the head. Complete this step with the second ear. Sew the ears onto the head at round 41 on each side. Next, sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at round 27. Sew your flowers and leaves as a ‘crown’ between the ears across the head. Optional – Hold in place with sewing pins to find desired placement. Lastly, cut 2 strands of beige and 1 strand of white approximately 6 inches long to make the tail. Using your crochet hook, pull the strands through a center stitch on the back of your lamb. Next, pull your ends through the loop and pull tight. Next, braid the tail to your desired length and knot to secure. Trim any excess. Your mini lamb is complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern. Feel free to share a picture of your sweet creation with us on Facebook or Instagram, we'd love to see them!

Happy Monday everyone! I'm loving how the farm theme is slowly coming together! The addition of this horse and donkey really has me brainstorming on a goat and maybe some chicks! These two come together rather quickly for their large size. By changing the colors you could also have a super cute zebra or even add a horn for a unicorn. I love watching the personality of amaigurumi come together. This horse seems a little sassy and the donkey has a spunky attitude going on! If you've missed any of the other farm animals you can find them all below: Cow and Mini Cow Duck Llama and Mini Llama Pig and Mini Pig NEW! Mini Horse and Donkey For this pattern you will want to be familiar with making a magic circle, invisible decreases and color changes (although there are only a few!). If these are new methods to you, a mini tutorial for each can be found on the Tips to Learning Amigurumi page, complete with helpful photos along the way! Also included below is a step-by-step video tutorial for joining the legs (right and left handed version). You're finished farm animal will be approximately 14 inches tall! Chain 1 and SC down the side. 2. When you reach the first corner chain 10 (if you crochet tightly you may want to add a few extra chains). 3. SC in the 2nd chain from your hook and back down the chain. SC across the bottom of the bandana. 4. When you reach the next corner chain 10 again (if you added chains above be sure to make this side with the same count). SC in the 2nd chain from your hook and in each chain back to the bandana. SC across the last remaining side. At this point you will have crocheted across all 3 sides and have created 2 ties on either side. Weave in your ends. Assembly 1. I found it easiest to complete the mane once the head was sewn onto the body. Be sure to keep your facial features centered and continue to stuff the neck before closing. This will help ensure a strong neck. 2. Next, sew the arms onto the body centered with the head at round 46. Mane With your accent color cut multiple strips of yarn approximately 9 inches long for the horse and 7 inches for the donkey. You will need quite a few to fill in the mane. - Taking 2 strands at a time and using your crochet hook, pull the strands through a stitch next to one of the ears to create a loop (picture 1). - Next, pull your ends through the loop (picture 2) and pull tight (picture 3). - Complete this step across the head to the other ear (picture 4). Continue these steps to create extra rows working down the back of the head. Donkey – Trim your mane to be approximately 2-3 inches long. Horse – Trim as needed/ to your liking. Tail With accent color cut 9 strips of yarn approximately 15 inches long. In similar fashion to our mane pull the loops of your strands through two stitches in the back of your horse/donkey. Pull the strand through your loop and pull tight. Trim your tail as desired, I kept mine about 2-3 inches long. Lastly, tie your bandana around the neck and your horse and donkey are complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern. Let me know if you have any questions with this pattern or any of my other patterns, I would be happy to help. Thank you, Stephanie

Insert the eyes between rows 41 and 42, 8 stitches apart. Place your eyes where you would like them and then remove to embroider your eyelashes before attaching the washer to the back. (This creates a little hole to help see where you want your eyelashes to go) Nose- Using pink yarn place the nose one row beneath your eyes and two stitches in on each side (this will leave 4 stitches in the middle and this is what you will pass your yarn through to create the nose). Pass your thread through 3 times (or as many as you would like for a thinner or wider nose). Use your yarn to make a straight line down 3 rows. Round 45: SC in the first 7 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (48) Round 46: SC in the first 6 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (42) Round 47: SC in the first 5 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (36) Round 48: SC in the first 4 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (30) Round 49: SC in the first 3 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (24) *Continue to stuff the head firmly Round 50: SC in the first 2 stitches, INV DEC in the next, rep around (18) Round 51: SC in the first stitch, INV DEC in the next, rep around (12) Round 52: INV DEC around (6) Fasten off and sew remaining part closed, weave in your end Tutu To work the tutu, have your kitten’s head towards you and body away from you (see pictures for example). With color of choice create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 13 (For a cleaner look attach at the back of the body) Round 1: Ch 2 (this does not count as your first stitch), 3DC in the same stitch and in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (144) Change to white (I carried my yarn as we will pick it back up for the last round, but fastening off works as well) *Note – It is not necessary to count each stitch of the tutu, if a few are missed it will still have its nice ruffles Round 2: Ch 2, DC in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (144) Change to color of choice Round 3: Ch 2, DC in each stitch around, join with a slip stitch to the first DC (144) Fasten off and weave in end Ears Make 2 With gray Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC around (6) Round 3: SC INC in each stitch around (12) Round 4: SC around (12) Round 5: SC in the first stitch, SC INC in the next, rep around (18) Rounds 6-7: SC around (18) Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing (To create a multi-colored ear, I completed one ear with white for the first 4 rounds and gray for the last 3 rounds) Arms Make 2 *Lightly stuff the bottom of the arms only* With white Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch around (12) Round 3: SC in the first 3 stitches, SC INC in the next, repeat around (15) Rounds 4-5: SC around (15) Round 6: SC in the first stitch, INV DEC, repeat around (10) Change to gray Rounds 7-18: SC around (10) At the end of round 18 pinch the arm flat and make 5 SC across the top to close, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the body. Legs Make 2 lightly stuffing the bottom half With color of choice for slippers Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each stitch (12) Round 3: SC in the first stitch, SC INC in the next, rep around (18) Round 4: SC in the first 2 stitches, SC INC in the next, rep around (24) Round 5: SC around in the back loops only (24) Round 6: SC around (24) Round 7: SC in the first 6 stitches, INV DEC 6 times, SC in the last 6 stitches (18) Round 8: SC in the first 3 stitches, INV DEC 6 times, SC in the last 3 stitches (12) Change to gray Rounds 9-24: SC around (12) At the end of round 24 pinch the leg flat and make 6 SC across the top to close, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the body. Accessories “Ribbons” for slippers – Make 2 With color of choice, make a chain until it reaches around the leg, crossing at the front. Tension and stuffing can vary from person to person and this number may be different for some. As a reference my chain was 26. Fasten off leaving about 6 inches to sew onto the slipper. Bows for Slippers – Make 2 Working in a magic circle make 4 DCs, slip stitch, 4 DCs, and slip stitch again, pull your string tight and wrap it around the middle of the bow 3-4 times. Tie/secure in the back and cut your string leaving a long section to sew with. Headband Make a chain long enough to reach around the head, my chain was 48, fasten off leaving a long tail to sew with. Bow for headband Working in a magic circle make 7 DCs, slip stitch, 7 DCs, and slip stitch again, pull your string tight and wrap it around the middle of the bow 3-4 times. Tie/secure in the back and cut your string leaving a long section to sew with. Dress Straps- Make 2 Chain 13 Row 1: SC in the 2nd chain from hook and in each chain across (12) Row 2: Chain 1 and turn, SC in each chain across (12) Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing Assembly 1. Sew the ears onto either side of the head, starting at the 4th round and ending at the 12th round 2. Next, sew on the headband and bow. I placed the headband where I wanted it and sewed it in place, I had enough remaining yarn from my tail to tie a bow at the back. 3. Attach the arms onto the body at round 26, next sew each strap over the arms. I attached at round 24 on the front and back. 4. Attach the “ribbon” for the slippers to each leg. I attached to one side, wrapped around the back to the front to create an “x” and secured to the other side of the slipper. 5. Sew each bow onto the outsides of the slippers. 6. Sew the legs onto the bottom of the body, making sure to keep them centered with the facial features. Your ballerina kitten is complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern. Let me know if you have any questions with this pattern or any of my other patterns, I would be happy to help. Thank you, Stephanie

Designing a hedgehog has been high on my list! They are adorable, spunky and I am seeing them everywhere! I have combined these with one of my favorite outfits as a kid. Overalls! Pocket and all! I was inspired by the suspenders from the Berry Patch Bunny! These hedgehogs were purposely made about the same size as my other forest animals, so they can be played with together as friends or displayed nicely at a craft fair! If you are new to amigurumi be sure to check out my tips and materials page to help get you started! With each pattern I try to keep in mind how they will be played with, knowing that kids (mainly mine) are rough with their toys! We spend a lot of time and put a lot of love into our creations. With that in mind, I have frogged many times so that you won't have to. The legs and body are made as one piece. The head is done separately, but I feel it's worth the extra item to sew on. Having the head separate guarantees the stuffing will stay there and not sink down into the neck. Stuffing the neck firmly as you sew it on will also add to its sturdiness. I like to use plastic safety eyes for the majority of my amigurumi projects but for those times that you would prefer an alternative I have you covered with these crochet thread eyes! This post contains affiliate links, please click here for more info. Thank you for supporting Grace and Yarn! Meet the Mini Berry Patch Bunnies! They are a smaller version of this gal here, and this cute guy here! This was a super fun CAL (crochet-a-long) that we worked on a few months ago and I wanted to rally up all parts together for an easy pattern read. You can now find the full free pattern as one here in this blog post! With their small size (about 8 inches tall!) they're a fun way to use up some scrap yarn and they work up really fast! When I was brainstorming these two I went looking for a yarn that resembled jean overalls. Lion Brand Jeans yarn was perfect! Plus, really soft to work with. I used Bermuda shorts for the shirt on the girl version and Faded for her overalls. On the boy version I used Stonewash. I love the different colors they have available! I think I need to make another bunny with the Khaki color! For this pattern the legs, head and body are made as one piece. We will make each leg separately and join together to start forming the body. There is minimal sewing involved here, yay! In fact, the only pieces we will be sewing are the ears and arms! I have some helpful videos below to walk you through sewing, making the straps and joining the legs. You can view them in a right or left handed tutorial! To make these bunnies we will be working in the round, meaning each round will not be joined. You will want to use a stitch marker to help keep track of which round you are working on. I like using a scrap piece of yarn, but a bobby pin or safety pin work great too! I've also made these two in similar size to be included with the other mini patterns that are growing here on the blog. You can check them out below! Mini Llama Mini Pig Mini Cow If you're new to amigurumi be sure to check out our Tips to Learning Amigurumi page! It's packed full of mini photo tutorials to get you started! If you sell finished items online (Etsy, etc) please provide a link to the pattern and credit to me as the designer, thank you. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Materials Needed - Size 4 worsted weight yarn (25g of main body color, 25g overall color, small amount for shirt and bow) 3.5 mm crochet hook (these are my favorite hooks!) 9mm safety eyes Black crochet/embroidery thread for eyelashes, nose and mouth Scissors Tapestry needle (bent tips work great for amigurumi!) Stuffing Stitch markers Pins (optional) Abbreviations: US terminology MC- Magic circle SC- Single crochet SC INC- Single crochet increase INV DEC- Invisible decrease HDC – Half double crochet St(s)- Stitch(es) Some notes before we begin: 1. Slowly stuff as you go, you want it to be firm but not stretched. (Click here for some tips on stuffing!) 2. You will be working in the round, I like using a stitch marker at the beginning of each round. 3. The legs, body and head will be made as one piece. Here we go! Legs - Make 2 – Starting with body color Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC INC in each st (12) Round 3: SC in the first st, SC INC in the next, repeat around (18) Round 4: SC in the first 2 sts, SC INC in the next, repeat around (24) Round 5: SC around in the back loops only (24) Round 6: SC around (24) Round 7: SC in the first 6 sts, INV DEC 6 times, SC in the last 6 sts (18) Round 8: SC in the first 3 sts, INV DEC 6 times, SC in the last 3 sts (12) Change to overall color Rounds 9-16: SC around (12) Fasten off on the first leg only. When you finish the 2nd leg, make a SC into each of the next 5 stitches (do not fasten off). This will line up your working yarn to be in the center of the leg for our join as well as ensuring both feet will be facing forward. Round 17: Chain 3 and attach to the first leg with a SC (make sure that both feet are facing forward). SC in the remaining sts around the leg. When you reach the chain make a SC across each of the 3 chains, SC in the remaining sts of the next leg and SC across each of the 3 chains again. You will have crocheted on each side of the chain. (30 SC) This completes your join and is where your next round will start. Rounds 18-23 SC around (30) Change to shirt color Round 24: SC around in the back loop only (30) Rounds 25-27: SC around (30) Round 28: SC in the first 3 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (24) Round 29: SC in the first 2 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (18) Change to body color Round 30: SC around (18) Round 31: SC in the first st, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (12) Round 32: SC around (12) Here is where we will start the head Round 33: SC in the first st, SC INC in the next, repeat around (18) Round 34: SC in the first 2 sts, SC INC in the next, repeat around (24) Round 35: SC in the first 3 sts, SC INC in the next, repeat around (30) Round 36: SC in the first 4 sts, SC INC in the next, repeat around (36) Round 37: SC in the first 11 sts, SC INC in the next, repeat around (39) Rounds 38-42: SC around (39) NOTE: Here is where we will attach the facial features. Place the safety eyes 5 stitches apart between rounds 40 and 41. (For the girl version, I recommend sewing on the eyelashes before securing your safety eyes). Nose/Mouth: Using embroidery thread place the nose centered towards the bottom row of your eyes, 1 stitch in on each side (this will leave 3 stitches in the middle and this is what you will pass your thread through to create the nose). Pass your thread through 5-6 times (or as many as you would like for a thinner or wider nose). Use your thread to make a straight line down 2 rows and then a ‘V’ for the smile. Round 43: SC in the first 11 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (36) Round 44: SC in the first 4 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (30) Round 45: SC in the first 3 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (24) *Continue to stuff the head and neck firmly to avoid a wobbly head* Round 46: SC in the first 2 sts, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (18) Round 47: SC in the first stitch, INV DEC in the next, repeat around (12) Round 48: INV DEC around (6) Fasten off and sew remaining part closed, weave in your end. Ears- Make 2 - With body color Round 1: Create a magic circle with 7 SC Rounds 2-3: SC around (7) Round 4: SC INC in each st around (14) Rounds 5-9: SC around (14) Fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing, fold ear in half and sew across to close the ear as pictured. Arms- Make 2 starting with body color (stuff lightly at the bottom) Round 1: Create a magic circle with 6 SC Round 2: SC in the first st, SC INC in the next, repeat around (9) Rounds 3-5: SC around (9) Change to shirt color Rounds 6-11: SC around (9) At the end of round 11 pinch the arm flat and make 4 SC across the top to close, fasten off and leave a long tail to sew onto the body. Bow – With color of choice Working in a magic circle make 5 DCs, slip stitch, 5 DCs, and slip stitch again, pull your string tight and wrap it around the middle of the bow 4 times. Tie/secure in the back and cut your string leaving a long section to sew with. Attaching everything together- (Note – We will sew our parts together and then make the bib and straps for the overalls.) - First, sew the ears onto the head starting at the 4th round and ending around the 6th round. (Pictures for reference below.) - Next, sew the arms on the body centered with the head at round 29. - Lastly, for the girl version sew the bow onto the desired ear. Overall Bib and Straps – To make this last part we will be attaching and crocheting along some of the front loops from round 24. No sewing will be needed for this portion. 1. With overall color make a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to one of the front loops from round 24. We will be using the center 8 stitches for our bib portion. I used the mouth to help me find the center and counted out a few stitches on each side to find my 8 middle stitches. (Picture 1) 2. Ch 1 and make 8 HDC across (one in each stitch for 8 stitches) (8) Ch 1 and turn, we will now work across in rows. (Turning your bunny upside down or right side up with each row will help in easily reaching your stitches, find what’s comfortable for you.) (Picture 2) 3. HDC across, ch 1 and turn (8) (Picture 3) 4. HDC across (8) Once you complete this row, do not fasten off. Make a chain long enough to reach across the back to the opposite side (the straps will make an ‘x’ when complete) and slip stitch into a front loop from round 24. Our tension may be different, and the amount of chains needed to reach the other side may differ, for reference I chained 17. Fasten off and weave in your end. (Pictures 4 & 5) 5. Create a slip knot and attach with a slip stitch to the other (front) side of your bib. Make a chain with the same amount as the first and attach with a slip stitch to the back as before. Fasten off and weave in your ends. (Pictures 6, 7, & 8) Your mini bunny is complete! I hope you have enjoyed making this pattern! Feel free to share a picture with us in the group, we'd love to see them! Thank you so much for stopping by, Stephanie
Happy 2019! I want to say thank you to everyone who has sent a kind word, shared love on social media, purchased a pattern and visited the free patterns here on the blog in 2018! You're encouragement has meant so much and has fueled the fire to continue creating in 2019! I first launched Grace and Yarn in March of 2018, knowing it was out of my comfort zone but believing God had a great plan in store. I loved being a stay-at-home mom (and still do), I had a passion for crocheting and really missed working on computers. I also had a dream of contributing financially while still being at home with our kiddos. While I may not be making a living by blogging, the extra income has been such a blessing to our family, thank you for your support and kindness! Below are the top 9 patterns viewed on the blog since we launched! I've also been reflecting on some new year resolutions for Grace and Yarn come 2019, some of which you helped me plan! I asked all of you in the Grace and Yarn Crochet Group on Facebook what you would like to see in 2019 here on the blog. Your requests and ideas were amazing! So much so that I had to write them down! First off, there were a LOT of requests for an ocean theme. I love themes, so this idea brought all sorts of smiles! Among the requests were a seahorse, shark, dolphin, whale, narwhal, the list goes on! This is definitely a theme I look forward to creating in the coming year! Another theme I want to work on is farm animals. And from your requests I know you do too! So far on the blog we already have a Llama, Large Cow, Mini Cow, Duck, and Mini Pig. I think we need a goat, sheep, mini llama (stay tuned next week, wink wink), ooh maybe a donkey too! Oh and a horse! I'm so excited to see what 2019 has in store. I have some great ideas for patterns and tutorials to bring you! You can sign up for my newsletter here if you'd like to make sure you don't miss any! Here are my 2019 goals for Grace and Yarn 1. To create more amigurumi patterns, including large and miniature versions (This is an obvious yet unspecific goal since you all know my love for amigurumi, I have a list going for the next few months and I always love hearing from you if you have any specific requests or hard to find animals you'd like me to try out!) 2. Pillows! I have about 5 pillow forms in my stash that I would really like to use and what better way than to make them into a cute animal! This will also help me with goal #5. 3. Character hats ( I actually had all sorts of plans for some animal hats this last fall and amigurumi kept finding it's way to my hook first, so I'm planning for some fun hats this next year!) 4. Video Tutorials.....................If I'm being completely honest, this one makes me nervous. Videos are totally out of my comfort zone, but at the same time I'm excited to learn a new area of blogging to bring you more tutorials! I'm also a lefty and am researching the best way to bring you left and right handed videos. 5. Use up my yarn stash.... Yes, this seems to be on every crocheters resolution list right? I have plans to get out my yarn winder and make some cute cakes with all of my leftover yarn. If this is on your list too you just might see some stash busting patterns to help use them up! I'm keeping my goals small for now because I know I have a better chance of finishing them if I don't stretch myself too thin. Best part is, more can always be added as some are crossed off the list! What are your 2019 goals? Any crochet related? Feel free to leave a comment below or in the group, I'd love to hear them! I got off track there, but reflecting over 2018 made me excited for 2019! Here are the top 9 patterns viewed here on the blog in 2018 Feel free to PIN here if you'd like to come back later! #9: Emma the Fox Sweet Emma the Fox came in at #9, I love her little bows and skirted dress! If you'd prefer the boy version you can find Eli here! #8: Amigurumi Duck Pattern These fun birds actually started out as a chick but as the pattern formed they reminded me more of ducks! I might have to work on a chick pattern too! #7: Amigurumi Llama Being released in November I was a little bit shocked and excited to see our Llamas from our CAL in the top 9! I'm so glad that they have been enjoyed, I had such a blast making them! So much so that there's a mini version coming next week, stay tuned! #6: Crochet Bunny Headband These headbands are so much fun to make! I made one for each of my girls in different colors and they loved them! I'm thinking maybe we need a cute Spring bear headband or maybe a lamb! On a side note, I had hesitation hitting publish on this pattern. The sizing of the ears gave me trouble but after a few more tries I was really happy with the outcome and included instructions on keeping those ears nice and sturdy! #5: Ray the Reindeer Ray the Reindeer is #5, he was from our Christmas in July series. I love the simplicity of his pattern as there aren't very many color changes. He works up super fast! #4: Berry Patch Bunny Girl Version and #3: Berry Patch Bunny Boy Version Of all of my pattern these 2 hold a special place in my heart! I LOVE bunnies and these two were so much fun to make! I made the headband above to match the girl version here! #2: Easy Crochet Mop Cover When I'm not making amigurumi I love to work with cotton yarn! Especially Hobby Lobby's I Love This Cotton collection, the color assortment is vibrant and the yarn is so soft! These are great for cleaning floors and easily wash up to be used again. #1: Amigurumi Cow Pattern The #1 pattern viewed in 2018 were these sweet amigurumi cows! The love this pattern has received has blown me away and has been humbling. I'm so glad you have all enjoyed it! I hope you have a wonderful time celebrating as we bring in the new year! I'll see you back next week with our first pattern of the year! Thanks so much for stopping by!
Happy Friday everyone! I'm so excited for our Spring CAL (crochet-a-long)! They have me thinking of the bright, bold and beautiful colors of Spring! The Berry Patch Bunnies have been one of my favorite patterns to date and when brainstorming for our Spring CAL I knew we had to have a mini version! These wee little ones measure about 8 inches tall, almost half the size of their larger versions. If you missed them last year you can find the girl version here and the boy here! Since they have a nice small size I kept the legs, body and head as one piece. Very similar to the other minis on the blog with the exception of keeping the formed feet. I love the extra detail it adds! Getting the proportions just right for this pattern was fun and frustrating at the same time! It created a challenge that I enjoyed and on the 5th go we had a winner! It's always important to me for your creations to last. The main problem I had was making the head just a little bit bigger to be in proportion with those cute little feet I liked so much. But, by making the head larger it cause the neck to be more wobbly than I'd like. On the 2nd try I widen the neck but the proportions just didn't look right. 3rd try was shorter body, narrow neck and smaller head. Still didn't have it! In the end I kept the neck narrow and went for the middle size on the head. I felt like Goldilocks and cut the increase count in the middle. Whew! It was finally looking right. These are the patterns that I usually end up enjoying the most, even if they were more troublesome than others! Your neck should be nice and strong and last for hours of play. Tight stitches and firm stuffing will help ensure its stability. While I've used a 3.5mm hook for this pattern it's definitely negotiable! Everyone crochets with a different tension and the hook you want to use for amigurumi can vary. If you've made amigurumi before chances are you have your favorite go to hook and are ready! If you're new to amigurumi try a small part to crochet and get a feel for how loose or tight your tension is. Start with the 3.5mm hook (or a similar size if you don't have one on hand), if your stitches are so tight you have trouble getting your hook in you want to go up in size (try half a size at a time until you find what works for you). If your stitches are very loose you will want to go down in size. Tight stitches help your amigurumi to be strong structurally and help reduce the chance of your stuffing showing through. Keep in mind if you do end up using a different size hook your finished bunny may be slightly smaller or bigger depending on the size and your tension. We will make these in 2 parts which I will go over below. While there are set days that each part will be released, you are welcome to crochet at your own pace. There is no date your creation has to be started or finished. Each part will remain on the blog as a free pattern! What's a CAL (Crochet-a-long)? A CAL is a fun event where a group of crocheters come together and work on each part of the pattern together. This CAL will be split into 2 parts and is FREE here on the blog. Where does it take place? The best place is in the Grace and Yarn Crochet Group on Facebook! With everyone being in different time zones and having different schedules everyone will be crocheting at different times. The group atmosphere allows you to share photos, comments, and questions whenever you'd like! While the Facebook group is the easiest place to interact with others participating in the CAL, it's not necessary to join. You can also grab a friend to crochet each part together or work on your own as well. If you prefer to work with an ad-free printable PDF version, one will be available in my Etsy and Ravelry shop starting on April 5th! How do I find each part? Each part will have it's own post here on the blog! I will hyperlink each part below in this post, so feel free to PIN it here to save to your crochet board! Each link will also be shared on the Grace and Yarn Facebook page and group page. If you'd like the link sent straight to your inbox, you can sign up for my newsletter here! I'll also keep you updated when new patterns are released so you won't miss them! When will each part be posted? The CAL will start on Friday April 5th and will have 2 parts. Part 1 - Friday April 5th - Legs, Body, Head Part 2 - Monday April 8th - Ears, Arms, Straps Other Helpful Tips If you are new to amigurumi, this is a great pattern to work on. I will break down each step and provide helpful photos along the way. Feel free to ask questions at any time! Be sure to check out the Tips to Learning Amigurumi page as it will go over color changes, making magic circles and other tips to get you started! If you'd prefer, you can use crocheted eyes as an alternative to the plastic safety eyes. You're finished mini bunny will measure about 8 inches tall, perfect size for cuddling! Pattern - PIN it here to save to your favorite board! - Purchase an ad-free printable version from Etsy or Ravelry for a small fee If you are new to amigurumi be sure to check out my tips and materials page to help get you started! Scissors Tapestry needle - I love the bent tips! Stuffing (Poly-Fil and Morning Glory are my favorites!) Stitch markers The biggest question I had when first making amigurumi dolls was finding yarn for different skin colors. Here's a few to try out depending on the shade you are looking for. I love that there are MANY options, making it easy to make your doll in the likeness of the little one you want to gift it to! Light to Dark Shades Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn - Ivory Caron Simply Soft - Peach Vanna's Choice - Linen or Beige Yarn Bee Soft and Sleek - Ivory (this is what I used for this pattern) Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn - Toasted Almond or Brown Red Heart Soft - Chocolate Abbreviations (US terms) SC- Single crochet SC INC- Single crochet increase INV DEC- Invisible decrease HDC- Half double crochet HDC INC- Half double crochet increase Sl st – Slip stitch Blo- Back loops only Let's get started!

I'm so excited to share our 4th and last pattern in our Christmas in July series! Meet Anna the Angel, she measures about 7 inches tall and works up just as quickly as our previous patterns. For this pattern you will want to be familiar with changing colors, working in a magic circle, and using invisible decreases. You can find a mini tutorial with helpful photos for each of these in our Tips to Amigurumi page! Anna has a few more parts to sew than the other patterns in this series but she's definitely worth the extra steps! Her body and head are made as one piece (yes!) and we will be sewing her arms, wings and hair. Feel free to change the colors to your liking or even to resemble the little girl you'd like to make her for! Exclude the bun in her hair and eyelashes for a great boy version too! To stay up to date on new pattern releases (including the remaining Christmas in July patterns) you can sign up for our newsletter here! Be sure to also join the Grace and Yarn Crochet Group on Facebook! Share your work, ask questions and engage with others who love to crochet! While designing this series of patterns I took your requests from the group to keep them small. They all range from 6-8 inches tall (Anna measures about 7 inches). Difference in tension may result in slightly taller or shorter animals but they should still be the perfect size for stuffing stockings this Winter! Pattern PIN here to save for later! Grab the ad-free PDF version in my Etsy or Ravelry shop! This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase an item from a link below I will receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep the free patterns flowing! All links are to products I use and love! Thanks for supporting Grace and Yarn! For more information check out our disclosure here. You may make and sell items made from this pattern but please do not sell, share or reproduce the actual pattern. If you sell finished items online (Etsy, etc) please provide a link to the pattern and credit to me as the designer, thank you. I hope you enjoy this pattern! Let me know if you have any questions with this pattern or any of my other patterns, I would be happy to help! Thank you so much for making 2019 Christmas in July such a fun event! I can't wait to see your creations! If you missed any of the previous patterns you can find them all here!
