Would love to walk for hours in this kind of place

It's never too early to start planning how you'll celebrate Christmas. This year, consider jumping aboard this train ride that's sure to light up your soul.

This shot is from a series of images I took on a recent day trip to Saginaw, Michigan. I had grown up in nearby Saginaw Township and I hadn't been back to see the city of Saginaw for many years. Unfortunately the town seems to be in worse shape than when I left, many buildings gone, empty, or in poor shape. This building is the old Pere Marquette train station located on Potter Street. The building is mostly a burned out hulk, due to a fire set by an arsonist in 1991. There is a preservation society which is trying to restore the building and I believe they actually own the structure, but given the state of decay and the poor location I'm doubtful they will be able to raise the money needed to fix it up. Processing for this image consisted of taking 9 exposures and merging them to an HDR image using Photomatix. I then used Silver Efex Pro and Photo Tools in Photoshop to add extra grit and a yellow cast to the image.
