I just finished working on the Album Artwork for The Crane Wives , who are releasing their sister albums in August! I've worked with them on all three albums, and it's been really inspiring to not only grow in my image making with them, but to see and hear them grow as we

I love this cottage entrance. Don't you? A built-in bed with a window. I want this! I love the mirror treatment on the closet doors too. This is my guest room/dressing room. Another view of this room. I got the mirror recently at a tag sale and put it up myself. It makes the room look ever so much bigger. Love it. As for my reflection ... don't love it. :-) If you look carefully you will see Webster staring at his reflection. I love this shadow play in my cottage. It helps me remember that there was once a sunny day. The view from my window right now. Another rainy day.

Hello Everyone! Great first day back after Spring Break! The kids all sounded like they had a lot of family adventures! We definitely took extra time to share this morning!! One of our favorite lessons from today was one on antonyms and synonyms. We read The Foot Book and learned that antonyms are really just opposites. Then we went back through the book and replaced some of the sords with synonyms. We then talked about how using words like these can make out own writing more interesting and more powerful, Brainstorming antonyms and synonyms is a great way to increase vocabulary and expose kids to words that may not have thought of using. We brainstormed words on a new anchor chart with a magnet on it to remind them that using interesting words like antonyms and synonyms can attract other great word choices and great writing!! We'll be working on using antonyms and synonyms all week!! Fun Stuff! Opposites Attract! :) Each kiddo wrote either a set of antonyms or a set of synonyms Good Job Kids!!! Now the trick is to get the kids to say "synonym" and not "cinnamon!!" :) So cute!! It's going to be a great week!! Have a great night! Joyfully! Nancy
Looking for novel way to get your middle school students excited about math and statistics?! This file contains everything you need to conduct the experiment (except the Tootsie Pops!) that answers the age old question "How many licks does it take to get the center of a tootsie pop?" The lesson covers mean, median, mode, range, outliers, tables, graphs, box and whisker plots, data collection, pre and post discussion questions, experimental procedures, and student reflection. I also provided a short clip of the old commercial and worksheets students can use during the experiment. I've also added assorted extension activity ideas I've used in the past. On the day of the experiment, I wear a Tootsie Pop t-shirt which creates lots of excitement and anticipation for the kids. It's worth the investment! (Example results included) ADDITION: I've added a picture of the display I used for this project. Individually, the project does not make a great display, but I complied the data that we collected from each quarter and made a few graphs. Along with examples of quality work, this made a great display!
