Ted McCarty’s leadership at Gibson was highlighted by the introduction of top-shelf instruments created by knowledgable, intuitive designers and builders. Another brilliant move was his guiding the purchase of foundering Epiphone, which expanded Gibson’s retail reach. In 1969, Mike Ladd, who had just purchased a music store in Memphis, traveled to Kalamazoo for a tour

We're huge fans of Fender at Original Fuzz. They might not always have the best build quality from year to year, but they've built an amazing brand that has helped define much of the music that we enjoy, from Buddy Holly to Television to Nirvana. And they've always been a good reference point for mid-century industrial design. The Fender logo is iconic and they ran some interesting ads in the 1960s that helped establish them as a classic American brand. Here's a collection of vintage print ads from that era. Most of them were a part of their

Story Following up on the success of the Rivolta Guitars Combinata comes the latest addition to the family: The Mondata. The tradition of offering fresh takes on classic Dennis Fano designs continues with this offset design, incorporating elements of the Fano JM6 and the classic non-reverse Firebird. Like the Combinata, the Mondata features a double-bound chambered mahogany body with bound neck and vintage pearloid block inlays. You can expect a punchy and clear tone from the Firebird pickups, think 'humbuckers that sound like FAT single coils' and you're there. If versatility is your thing, the two switch configuration gives you every possible pickup combination. Mondata Switching System The Rivolta Mondata features a first for Dennis Fano: it's his first design to incorporate a double switching system, including a selector switch for the bridge and neck pickups, and a mode switch. The mode switch has 3 positions: "Standard" (toggle down: no middle pickup, only bridge and/or neck pickup, selected via upper toggle) "Combo" (toggle in the middle: middle pickup + bridge and/or neck pickup, selected via upper toggle) "Override" (toggle up: middle pickup only, upper toggle bypassed) Demo Video Features & Specs Chambered mahogany body w/ mahogany top German carve top w/ raised center block White binding on front and back Set maple neck ebony fingerboard w/ white binding Full width moto block inlays 3+3 peghead w/ white binding 25" scale length 1.687" nut width C' shape neck carve 3x 'Fumante' Mini-Humbuckers-Bridge: 42AWG / Alnico V / 7.5kOhm-Middle: 42AWG / Alnico V / 6.8kOhm-Neck: 42AWG / Alnico V / 6.2kOhm Master volume, master tone, 2 toggle switches Kluson style tuners Tune-o-matic bridge w/ traditional nylon saddles & stop tailpiece LEFT HAND OPTION AVAILABLE - CLICK HERE Case Fit Rivolta Premium Soft Case INCLUDED

Vintage ad for B.C. Rich guitars 1989. Today’s post from yours truly is going to take you on a trip down memory lane to a time when magazines were the main communication device for rock and roll. Though some great rock oriented print magazines do still exist, for at least four decades from the 60s through the 90s magazines were what you spent your money on so you could be sure to get the recommended daily amount of rock and roll information, get fan club info, and pull out centerfolds of a young David Lee Roth to hang on your wall—right next to whatever else covered up the ugly wallpaper in the room you spent your teenage years in. If you’re a guitar loving gearhead and also a fan of girls, then you’re going to get an especially good kick out of the images in this post that feature the famous “Dean Girls” who helped sell guitars for Dean in a series of ads in the late 70s and 80s, as well as some racy images used by B.C. Rich. All of the images in the post have pretty consistent themes that include bikinis,...
