Can My Hamster Eat Artichokes can hamsters really eat this tasty food or should they avoid it. Are Artichokes safe for hamsters?
Hamsters should be kept clan and dry. A jam jar placed on its side will often be used by the hamsters as a toilet and this can be cleaned out quite easily. Use essential oil to wash the cage, just as for rabbits. Hamsters seem to like the smell of True Lavender, which is handy because it is antiseptic and antibiotic and will keep the hamsters healthy. Add 2 drops of True Lavender oil to 2 quarts of water ans swish this around the whole of the cage after you have washed it in the usual way. If your hamster feels very hot and is panting, leave it alone. This can be rather difficult to do because the creature may look so ill as to almost be dead, but it will soon recover so don't panic. Hamsters store their food and this can rot, so use dried herbs and essential oils on the floor of the cage to prevent maggots. Use 1-2 drops of True Lavender oil added to .5oz water, spray in the bedding material and toss around well, let sit for 24 hrs to dry, before adding to a clean cage. Hamsters in a clean cage, usually don't produce a strong smell. If you feel the smell in a confined (bedroom), room is too strong. Diffuse 2-3 drops of True Lavender in a diffuser in the room to remove the smell. Run a diffuser for 5-10 minutes each day. Clinical Grade essential oils are the purest and safest available.
