As much as I would have liked to finish Christmas Joy and share it with you before the Holidays, my cold (yes, I am at it again) proved to be stronger than my desire and ability to stitch. Today I managed to do all the baking, so maybe tomorrow I'll give stitching another try. No promises, though... Until then I am proud to share with you the beautiful ornaments stitched by my dear readers. Tatiana's work: Martina's work: Victoria's work: I just love seeing all the different interpretations, thank you, ladies! Happy Holidays, Everyone!
I picked up The Cape again. I have been wanting to work on something with overdyed threads and this is perfect :D It is all Weeks Dye Works floss, and they are so pretty. I finished the border, and the ocean, now I’m working on the sand. This shouldn’t take me too long, it has stitched up pretty quickly. There is a big white lighthouse in the center of the design… it’s boring. So, do you think I should add some sort of stripes to it or something? I am thinking black stripes… or brown. I am not sure, what are your thoughts oh wise ones? :D

Hardanger embroidery is a style of drawn thread work that is most popular today. It originally comes from Norway, and there from the traditional district of Hardanger. The backbone of Hardanger designs consists of satin stitches, in geometrical areas both warp and weft threads are removed and the remaining mesh is secured with simple weaving or warping, or with a limited number of simple filling patterns. The designs tend to be geometric, if they include flowers or such they are very stylized due to the nature of the technique. Hardanger never includes Buttonhole stitches, except for securing the edges of a piece of fabric. It is usually executed using rather coarse fabric and thread. From Wikipedia
