It's Fri-YAY friends! We actually have a pretty low key weekend coming up which I am SUPER excited about! Mark has a softball game tonight and then Addie has a sleepover birthday Saturday night so now I am trying to pawn off Winter on someone. Any takers? ;-) Then Sunday we have church but that
Last but not least was Honeydukes. Creating Honeyduke's was so much fun but it was probably the most work that was involved in this party....
Tee Hee :) My kids are sleeping in soooo late after our late 4th of July evening. I think I will snuggle in my bed so I don't wake them. And I've been wanting to post these photos anyway.... A month or so ago I pulled all the clutter out of the under the stairs storage. I added some blankets and baskets of books and called it a reading room. Then last weekend I was itching for a project that had nothing to do with cleaning, cooking, folding, playing with the kids or working out. (Since those 5 things seem to be the total extent of my summer thus far.) I planted a few flowers outside, then turned my eyes to the "reading room" I started grabbing whatever I had in storage. The paper chains from Lydia's birthday. White lights from Christmas. Part of a birthday banner. Darling banner from Anabelfuzz on Etsy. (I want to plan an entire playroom based on this banner.) Thought I'd frame this cute Etsy print I've had for a while. (Can't remember which shop now.) Found the yellow frame for a dollar at a yard sale. Cut up a pretty thank you note and rummaged through the "paper chain" paper for scraps. Look mom! I'm a scrapbooker! Grabbed a sign from the Goodwill pile that never quite worked in Lydia's room. Collin's flashcards from Anthropologie. If I could do this room exactly how I would like, I would do it in primary colors, totally gender neutral. But we aren't going to be in this house long enough for Collin to notice that it isn't boy friendly. He likes it fine. I threw in an Elmo pillow for good measure. I love creative messes! Cool handmade dry erase board and matching art piece from my handmade swap. Someday I will have them up by my desk, but for now, the kids can borrow them. Thank you Shannon! View from the inside. If I was a little girl, I would want this as my room! Oh wait. Lydia does. All done. Now back to the cleaning, cooking, folding, playing with kids and working out. Except, I really have been wanting to do something fun with the study..... Hope everyone had a great holiday! Ours was perfectly wonderful.
Tonight while cruising Pinterest I ran across an absolutely awesome idea for a loft bed ladder. This person needed to find a better solution to the ladder that came with her loft bed because her young children could not climb up it. Instead they used an IKEA Trofast unit, attached it to the bed, added railing, and voila! New safe ladder PLUS extra storage :) Source BUT the coolest part is not just that link but the SITE itself! IKEA Hackers! Ok, I'll be brutally honest. I have NEVER been inside an IKEA store before. the closest one is in Cincinatti which is a little over 2hrs from me. Never really had a need to go and the drive wasn't worth it for me to maybe, maybe not buy something. However my sister typically buys me things from there because she's pretty awesome like that ;) We have decided when we do Jaiden's room (Remember my post A Little Girl's Dream Room?) we are not going to redo the crib. Instead we want to buy her a loft bed! I decided the other night a loft bed would be MUCH more practical and will fall right in to place with our small, space challenged home. IKEA so happens to have a neat one that is reversible... how cool! Source It's lower than I imagined but I think it will work. We will just have to wait and see. With a coat of paint it could truly be perfect. My husband wants to try a playhouse idea if we can... something like this cool bed I found via Pinterest: Source I still wish to accomplish the idea of a stage in her room with a dress up area and such, but right now I am working out a few space dilemmas... I'm finding out I may end up with more unexpected furniture in her room than originally thought. Nonetheless, I hope this has given YOU some neat ideas and opened your creative minds to something you never thought possible! I'll leave you with an even more extravagant idea for those of you looking for extreme space solutions for multiple children, featured over at DIY Show Off today: Source ~Lisa~

When Vicki Eastland’s family moved from an ultra-modern townhouse to a 100-year-old cottage, there was some serious redecorating to do. Vicki met the challenge head on, though, and after scouring flea markets and vintage shops on Etsy, she’s managed to design a room for her 16-month-old son Leif that combines a Victorian aesthetic with modern sensibility.
Are these parenting tips still relevant? First printed in the Ann Landers advice column decades ago, do they still apply to modern families?
Light switches are most likely less visible for some of us. That doesn't mean we don't have to take them into account. On the contrary, they are as
There are times when I am simply stunned by the beauty of Japanese design and craftsmanship, today I found these miniscule crochet pieces by Tralalala Lab, not only are they exquisite, but the photography of them is just delightful to.
